Like a fish.

I took a water aerobics class today (my exercise of choice) at the YMCA here in Charlotte. The greatest part about water aerobics is that I’m forced to stabilize my core muscles (abdominals and back) to keep good balance in the water. The workout is strenuous enough to feel it in my muscles — but…

Mom - Jess, I am so glad to hear you are doing Water Aerobics. I know our 90 year old neighbor, Irene, swears by what it does for her health and body…and since she is still doing it today, it is obviously a lifelong exercise. As you wrote, life in the swimming pool was something your whole childhood life centered around. I’m thankful that you are returning to something you loved that should really help your back pain. Love, Mom

Alette - What a great idea going online waiting getting your hair done LOL
Did you do your blog today at the hairdressers :)
Hope you had a good excercise in the pool. I use to do some swimming and loved it, you do not feel any weight isn’t that great :)
Have a nice day

All hours are working hours.

All hours are working hours. I never knew the mental capacity I had for working – until I began my present endeavor. It’s interesting to find out that when you love what you’re doing, you don’t care what time it is. Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and answered several…

The convenience of a neighborhood restaurant.

Ahh, the convenience of a neighborhood restaurant. And here in Charlotte, North Carolina — it just so happens to be a sushi place. Delicious food. Always lots of activity — and extremely convenient. I can call down, place an order, and bring the food right back upstairs. They have the best ginger salad dressing, the…

Mark Pattison - I have to agree that the country club did have the best curly fries! I love that we grew up in the same hometown!

Alette - I do love sushi and sometimes I make it myself. Love the taste of it. You are so lucky having a neighbourhood restaurant that serves sushi
Have a nice day

Ali - I want some sushi :)

Mom - Jess, it must be great to have the convenience of a neighborhood Sushi place. I believe that the first Sushi I ever tasted was made by Al’s Mom, Grami Marie to you. She made an excellent California Sushi that has always been my favorite. Sometimes she would add smoked salmon to the veggie mix. She also taught me how to make Sushi and provided me with the tools to make it. She was an amazing Mother-in-Law and friend. I will always be thankful that she was my Mother-in-law. Isn’t it great that the love of Japanese food has been passed down through the generations of McDougall’s.
Love, Mom

Where were you on 9/11?

Where were you on 9/11? I remember hearing my mom talk about the clear vision she had of exactly where she was (and what she was doing) when JFK was shot. But I never understood how an event could be so impactful. I never understood how the remembrance of what you were doing, the exact…

Sjoera Snijder-Sahuleka, Netherlands - I remember exactly where I was that day! I just arrived with DH in Miland to visit some friends. I was trying to wake up from my nap when DH came storming in telling me what was going on in NY. Although NY is far away from the Netherlands I cried with you, cried when I saw plane 2 crash in the second tower, cried the towers went down right after eachother. And cried those days after…

Yea, I can remember 9/11, I was at a client’s house when I happen to turn on the t.v. & was just watching plane #2 hit the WTC. At that moment I was trying to wrap my brain around what just happend. My hubby was home recouping from surgery & called him to turn on the t.v. and then I wanted to go & pick my son up from school and go home to just be with my family…
How we miss & love those we lost, they will never be forgotton….

Valerie - Wow Jessica – powerful words.
You’re right, our generation will always remember where we were on 9/11, i remember just getting to work & hearing that a plane had crashed in NY, but that details were sketchy. I had no idea – no one did – how it would change us.
Great blog…keep up the killer writing! valerie

Alette - I too remember what I did that day. It was such an impact on my life, total disaster forever in your memory.
