Fashion wisdom.

An answer to Christina’s comment: Jessica, I love reading your blog and look forward to your travels. Do you have any fashion suggestions for us plus size girls who want to look hip but not over the top? The key to plus-size dressing is embracing what you have and making sure you get the right…

valerie - thanks for that, on behalf of all us plus sizers out there.
only recently i’ve been able to decide what i really like on me and that comfy is OK. it’s all about finding a style, and it’s hard to do when there’s not always affordable plus size styling!

Boots.

Received a request from Jeanette for black suede boot recommendations… This one is new from Ugg this year. These Fly London boots are my personal favorite. They’re not suede — but they’re comfortable and good for travel. There is also  this Steve Madden wedge pair. Or you…

Jeanette - Love all the suggestions and the Louboutins are sexy. I’m into wedges right now so I may purchase the Uggs for the fall. Appreciate the recommendations.
Now I have another question. I am an avid scrapbooker and attend crops quite frequently. Any suggestions for comfortable casual clothing that doesn’t make me look dowdy? I want to be stylish but comfortable.

Christina - Jessica-

Yearning for fall.

My picks for early fall fashion — that may end up being worn sooner! It’s the heart of summer, yet I’m yearning for all the warm and dark fall fashion colors that lie ahead. I just found this adorable Diane Von Furstenberg Hunter skirt — reminds me of uniform days. I’ll be saving the skirt…

jessica

Mary - I found your blog through Ali’s, and now I’m a regular reader. I love, love, LOVE your fasion picks for fall. Still searching for the yellow DVF dress!

Jeanette - Great picks. The black shirtdress is my favorite. I’m on a mission for a great pair of stylish black suede boots for the fall. Any recommendations?

valerie - hmmmmm…i’m a tone on tone girl, so i’d probably end up with a black or gray top. i have no imagination that way!
the shoes look great – makes me sad about having back surgery, cuz they’d be a blast to wear out! can’t wait to see your photos of the outfits!

Family Reunion.

We had three days of great weather — and when picture day came, we all decided on a rain coat picture! What a treat to have all the family together.

Janet Westrom - Jessica,
Thanks for the advice, I hope it turns out like that! The biggest issue I’m facing is that everyone in my family is converservative Christians but he follows the Hindu religion very closely. With all your travels and worldy experience how would you best approach a situation like this?
Thanks for your thoughts!
Janet

jessica - Hi Janet,
My family has known Jeffrey for a while now. That certainly helps. My tip to you is be yourself — and allow your boyfriend to be himself. Your family will accept your boyfriend with open arms if they believe he is BEST for YOU! (Sometimes it takes a little while — but it’s worth the wait if it’s meant to be.)
Good luck!
Jessica

Janet Westrom - Was it hard introducing Jeffrey to your whole family? I’m introducing my boyfriend to my extended family this weekend and I’m sooooo nervous. Any tips?

Cameron - Such cute pictures!!
