You’re a winner!

Based on the tremendous response to this fashion giveaway (THANK YOU!), I decided one winner wasn’t enough. Three seemed like a much better number. I loved reading all the comments and who everyone’s favorite designer was. Because I’ve been in admiration of high fashion for so long, I have much appreciation for all fashion designers….

Took a class from Ali! Love her!

Greta - Also found you through Ali. I like your blog because, I too, love fashion! Coach bags are about as designer as I get though! Very much a J. Crew girl!

Lindsey Trego - It’d have to be a tie between Vera Wang and Ralph Laure. To me, they’re both classics.

Mary - My favorite designer is Diane VonFurstenburg… you can’t look bad in one of her dresses!

Sam F. in Seattle - Nina Ricci gowns(though I don’t wear them I can appreciate them), DKNY, Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole, Balenciaga & Coach bags…Love fashion, but can’t get enough of makeup, I don’t think you can have too much eye shadow, lipstick or nail polish!–and Chanel has some of the best colors!

Karen - Hi Jessica, Alannah Hill is my pick (www.alannahhill.com.au). This is a lovely giveaway and brought back a happy memory for me. My one and only bottle of Chanel nail polish was bought when I went to Paris with my Dad many years ago. Thanks for the chance to play! Love the addition of “Today’s Fashion Choice” to your blog.

Lauren - OK, please pick the stay-at-home mom who lives vicariously through you and has not painted her toenails in over a year!! This would be a treat. Honesty is the best policy: I choose Isaac Mizrahi’s collection at Target as my fave. Where else can you one-stop shop for cute tops and diapers?

Jaclyn Venter - HI Jessica, got your blog link through Ali’s! The same as all the others… not a fashionista, but I just love you. Thank you for making my dull days better! I love Marc Jacobs!!!!! and red nail polish! Greetings from South Africa

i love her youthfulness in her designs
i love your sense in fashion!

sandi - I love your blog! I found it through Ali. You have such an amazing fashion sense – such an inspiration. My favorite designer would have to be Tom Ford. He is the ultimate in sexy sophistication. Sometimes he can be way out there, but it is always so meticulous.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity – so fun!

Jennifer - Does Cole Haan count? Otherwise Judith Leiber. I enjoy reading about your fashion style!

Mel - Marc Jacobs. You can single handedly thank him for most trends you see in fashion today in some form or another. He brought back the mini, the ballet flat, this whole feminine silhouette you see in so much of lately and have for the past three or four years. What I mean by that is the emphasis on a women’s body, hugging curves, cinched in waists, etc…Also he was one of the firsts to start doing “day dresses” again. Which are ALL over now.

Cath - Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrara, Karl Lagerfeld/Chanel, Lanvin and Naeem Khan has some interesting gowns!
Love the blog – also found your through Ali! LOL!

krista - I love coming online and being inspired by your wardrobe! My favorite designer-favorite store is Jacob Boutique. Found only in Canada. So next time, you travel up North CHECK IT OUT! You would love it!
Hope you have a great day!

Katrina - How fun! I swear I am not trying to brown nose here but I would choose Coco Chanel.

Nancy Wongsotaroeno - Another lurker through your sisters blog :)
My favorite designer today is Tommy Hilfiger, because of these (http://www.tommy-shop.nl/go.php?mod=produkt&Div=7&Cat=41&Sub=&ProdLabel=1205%20CASY&ProdColorCode=0&PHPSESSID=54506c8cd2344966de3f37eb0f5b962d16) shoes that I tried on yesterday… and didn’t buy… yet! These would be my first ‘good’ high heels in my whole life, but I usually wear low or no heels… Would I be able to walk in them? I think every girl needs at least one pair like these?
… SO going back this weekend! ;)
Hugs,
Nancy

Thanks for letting us play and for the offer of such a yummy treat!

tammy t - Hi Jessica,
Met you briefly when Ali taught at Treasury of Memories in Bellingham, and have been living vicariously thru you since I discovered your blog!
I would have to say that my favorite designers would be Michael Kors and Donna Karan. If I am ever rich and/or famous that is where I would head first!
Fun giveaway!
Tammy

Yes, everyone is welcome!
And thanks for the introduction to Mirabelli!
Good luck!
Jessica

Ann - Can Canadians play too?
My fav Canadian designer would be Franco Mirabelli. Check him out here
http://www.mirabelli.com/index.php?p=1_1
Thanks for the contest

Dove - Amazing responce to this!!!! WOW, what a great idea and just in time for the holidays. My FAV designer hands down, marc by marc jacobs, great fashions sense and made it on the scene at such a young age! I would love to win, but only if you autograph the bottle….you seem like the type that my make it big your self some day:)

Melanie - I love that classic reds are back in fashion for nail color. As for my fav designer, I can’t pick just one! I do love Marc Jacobs, YSL and J. Crew (does that count?).
Thanks for the contest!

Nina - Michael Kors for his keen understanding of what women would feel and look their best in. Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. Clearly the man understands how to initiate trends and put forth collections that will withstand the test of time. Azzadine Alaia and Herve Leger for creating pieces that understand curves and how best to accentuate them.

Lesha - I adore Betsey Johnson. :)

Suzette Mahoney - I don’t have a fav designer but would love to win a polish! I found your blog thru Ali, and then I moved to Charlotte in September, so I love your mentions of local places!! Also, last week my hubby participated in a seminar of Jeffrey’s and brought home the Little Black book…which I am loving! Even though I am a stay @ home Mom, it helped me with a dinner party we recently attended!
Please pick me! ;)

Mark Pattison - Dolce and Gabanna

Amy - How fun…my favorite designer? Hmmm…probably DVF. I met her up here at Nordstrom when she debuted her short-lived makeup line and she was so charming and elegant. Very friendly. But another shout-out for Betsey Johnson just for her approach to life.

Taylor - Hey, this is Taylor. I would say my favorite designer is hands-down Chloe. Temperley is a close second.

Danielle - No way! That is so cool!! It is SO hard to pick a designer, so I will pick one that I can actually afford instead of one I lust after and do not have a prayer of owning. I have adored Betsy Johnson since high school. Her clothes are so fun, flirty, and youthful.

Kathy Cina - Been following your blog for quite some time (thanks to Ali’s blog). I’m no fashionista (nor do I currently have the body to pull anything even remotely stylish), but the one thing I do for myself is get pedicures! So the Chanel Dazzling and Delice would come in perfect for my next trip to the salon! That’s the one time every few weeks just for ME (minus my 17 month old daughter) to get caught up on all the tabloid magazines (US, People, OK) and occasional browse threw Vogue or Cosmo to see what trends are hot or not…..Designers?? Considering I do most of my clothes shopping at Fred Meyer now (you’ll know that name since you grew-up in the Pacific NW—and please don’t cringe when you think of buying clothes there) I’d have to say the only “designer” named clothes I’ve really owned were my Calvin Klein jeans (back in the 80’s)…yes, I’m dating myself!
Keep enjoying this amazing time in your life! The rest of us can keep living vicariously thru your travel/fashion adventures!
~ Kathy C.
BTW – Loved the 80’s themed party pictures….if you only KNEW how dead on most of you were. Looking back to high school days in the mid-80’s (what WERE we thinking)?????? Come on—NEON???

Renee' - I did read the part about listing my favorite designer, but I don’t have a favorite…but I would love to win those beautiful new polishes :)

Darci - Jessica–
Love reading your blog. I am a scrapbooker who found you through Ali’s blog. I happen to live in a suburb of Des Moines and really had hoped to make it to Jeffrey’s presentation today. Saw lots of commercials over the week-end with Jeffrey on them!
Hope you had fun in Des Moines!
Darci

Valerie - A fun giveaway! My toes could use some new colors!

jeffrey - ETRO — pick me, pick me!

aimee - i would love a chance to win those yummy nail colors! thank you!

Fashion Planning.

The company Christmas party this year has a white theme. (Last year was red.) And I’ve been searching several sites to find the right outfit. I’ve been looking for a dress that’s more on the casual side. And I believe I’ve just found the one! This Marc by Marc Jacobs dress is fun and flirty,…

Kath - Cute options, Jessica! Now I have some ideas in mind when I go shopping.
(I was planning on tights with the boots).
Thanks,
Kath

Jessica - Okay… Kath,
Had to keep the petiteness of your wonderful self in mind while shopping! Here’s something fun that I found http://www.scoopnyc.com/Product.aspx?iLID=229 A girlfriend of mine wore a similar ensemble to our high school reunion and it looked so cute. Pair with a black open toe heel and I think it would look great with your hair and eyes.
As far as the sweater dress, it’s difficult. I would go with a wrap or something that will define your body. So many of the sweater dresses I have seen have loose shape, which can also be cute – like this one http://www.scoopnyc.com/Product.aspx?iLID=243 – but they’re not as flattering.
Were you planning to do tights with boots?
Hunting for more ideas,
Jessica

Jessica - One additional suggestion for Dove and her event at the aquarium: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2945703/0~6006558~6006559~6006574~6007662?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6007662&P=1
I’m placing my own order for this!
Nieves Lavi is a great designer. I wore one last year on New Year’s Eve. http://jessicamcdougall.blogs.com/jessica_mcdougall/2007/01/post.html

Kath - Hi Jessica!
He is 10 and will not be in attendance. The event is a fund raiser, and it is held at the school. It is not a fancy event…just an excuse to buy a new outfit!
I also love your new “today’s fashion choice” photo gallery.
Thanks for your help!

Jessica - Hi Kath,
What type of event is it?
How old is your son and will he be in attendance, too?
That will help me!
Jessica

Kath - My turn! I love reading your blog and admire your fashion sense. I have an event coming up at my son’s school. It’s dressy casual, but I always use it as an excuse to get a new outfit. I was thinking maybe a cute sweater dress and boots. I’m petite with dark brown hair and light blue eyes. Any ideas?
Thanks, Jessica!

Jessica - Dove,
Here’s an additional suggestion http://www.dvf.com/dvf/browse/productDetailWithPicker.jsp?productId=D6429002T7RED&categoryId=DRESSES
I have this dress and it’s very flattering to the waistline and warm (Thanks for the words of wisdom on the climate at the aquarium A.)
And of course red is the most dominant color you can choose!
Let us all know what you select!
Jessica

Dove - Thank you so much for the advice, I am a bit nervous about the pairing of the black tights with the wild shoes….but willing to give it a try. If you happen across anything that accentuates the waist please send it my way, I would have to say it is my best feature:)

A. - Dove, I attended a Christmas party at the Seattle Aquarium a few years back. I wanted to let you know that the venue is dark (lighting-wise) and unseasonably cold. I don’t know if they keep the temperatures low for the purpose of the inhabitants there or what, but it is kept at a very low, almost uncomfortable temperature.

Jessica - Janet,
Your request is proving to be much more difficult than I originally imagined. What I envision is a long gown that’s simple, but colorful. I really like this, but believe it’s not nearly formal enough http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod85833271&catId=cat240175 Then I happened upon this http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod86642271&catId=cat240177 To make it personalized, you could add a really fun Asian-inspired scarf around the high waistline – because I’m not a fan of the bow. Here’s an amazing Pucci scarf that would look delightful with the chocolate dress http://www.eluxury.com/estore/browse/product_detail.jsp?id=11477023
I’m still searching!
Jessica

kelly - i love your fashion choice photo gallery!
such fun!!!
things like that just make me happy :)

Jessica - Hi Dove,
The relativity of the following notes depend on your coloring and body type – but I’m just going on my fashion instinct: I believe the Nicole Miller dress would not be super flattering unless it was altered. And the purple number is cute, but not as sleek and venue-oriented as it could be.
Here’s my suggestion: http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/28875 And I believe you could accesorize it beautifully with a colorful shoe, either purple or pink (keep the black tights), and some simple bangle bracelets. Don’t forget a great fitting bra and add a nice black coat for the cold Seattle winter weather.
Upon entrance of the event, remove your coat and voila! Delightful!
Alternatives are available if you need further suggestions!
UPDATE: Here’s a ridiculous shoe that could take your outfit over the top: http://www.intermixonline.com/jump.jsp?itemID=19175&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword=1029FAVES
Jessica

Dove - The Seattle Aquarium, I am not from the area but seems to me its an odd venue (should I bring my swim suit?). Also keep in mind my budget is high but I would like to save on the dress and accessorize.
Thanks!
I noticed you are from the area so if you have any suggestions on stores I am all ears.

Janet Westrom - Jessica,
I’m friends with the bride and my estimated budget is about $500. Thanks for responding!
Janet

jessica m - Hi Janet,
Are you a close friend of the bride or groom?
My initial vision is a floor length gown. What is your estimated budget?
Thanks,
Jessica

jessica m - Hi Dove,
What is the venue for your holiday party? And what is the suggested dress?
Jessica

Janet Westrom - Wow, what a sweet offer to help chose an outfit. I need something for a wedding I’m going to in Japan. I’m a bit nervous about the whole experience so I could really use some outfit advice. I’m looking for something modest but dressy, it’s a formal wedding. Any ideas would be great!

Dove - I just love your style sense!!!! I would love your input for my upcoming holiday party dress. I am looking at a few options and NEED your help. I am going to attempt to post links to a few…I am going for something eye catching and bright, I like to draw lots of attention to myself.

Runway.

I had the delightful opportunity to attend Toronto Fashion Week last night, thanks to the beautiful and talented fashion photographer Yanick Dery. We attended the Aqua Di Lara swinsuit show. Amazing designs. I wish I could have bought some of the suits on the spot.

Jessica - Hi Hailey,
The jeans in the 10.27.07 fashion choice image are “Rich and Skinny” brand. They have an amazing fit – and you can find them ON SALE here: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml;jsessionid=R2JVQORIPKIOUCQAAKPBABQ?itemId=prod39250022&parentId=cat14740766&masterId=cat9210745&index=1&cmCat=cat000000cat980731cat8450747cat9210745cat14740766
Thanks for visiting!
Jessica

Hailey - I love that you have added a daily fashion choice! great inspiration for those of us who are more fashionably-challenged! I was wondering what brand of jeans you are wearing with the green coat outfit?

Mom - Hey Jess…love the HAT! It looks perfect with your outfit.
Love, Mom

Ksea Cantonwine - WOW! You lucky, lucky girl! You look fabulous!

Nina - Stunning fashion choice! Coco Chanel would have been proud!

Exercise!

Here’s a great reason to get out there and exercise… Cool new shoes! And they’re a bargain at $39.99 here or $49.99 here in grey suede. I picked the ’80s inspired color scheme (it’s becoming a theme around here!), but they come in lots of other colors, too. And for for those of you with…

Jessica - Hi Stephanie,
I love your items on Etsy. I’m getting some of them now. How cute. I find shoes anywhere and everywhere. Nordstrom has always been the best for size selection. Zappos too because you can search by size. I also buy shoes at Barneys and J.Crew – but they’re typically not very reasonable in the price category. I’ve heard a few people mention the new site that is linked to Banana Republic.
Good luck and thanks for visiting!
Jessica

Stephanie Bates - OMG! You wear a size 10? I wear an 11 and can’t seem to find shoes anywhere. Any good (and reasonably priced) sites you shop at?

Seattle.

I took the last several days off from blogging to be in Seattle to visit family and fun friends, for Frederick’s ’80s themed skating birthday party, and my high school reunion. I found the greatest combination of neon items for my outfit. American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, and fredflare.com had great ’80s gear.

Cameron - Jessica,
I’ve been breathlessly following your posts with fashion and lifestyle ideas…..for the sake of your adoring fans pls don’t wait too long between posts :)

Jeanette - I love it….an 80s party. Hope there was good music in the background. And you make a beautiful brunette.

Rebekah - In-freaking-credible!! xoxo

Carrie - LOL – nice hair and sunglasses.
Been missing your updates! Glad to hear all is well.

Happy Hallowen - WOW! You look AMAZING as a brunette!

Delights.

Delights I’m reveling in today: • Fancy desk accessories like this.• Fat free fig newtons.• A cool shelf to store stuff in. (Ali would love this one.) The site it comes from has some adorable home decorating items.• Hot tamales – the candy. Deliciously addicting. • Las Vegas sunrises. They’re so clear and bright. And…

AND the red pants!!!

valerie - one of my favorite things on preparing for my wedding – getting facials every two weeks to calm my rosacea. yum.

Danielle - I have had some serious cravings for Hot Tamales lately! Loving the pictures!

Jeanette - It’s all about the accessories. Even when it comes to a decorative stapler. :)

Travel coat.

I found an excellent traveling coat. Hooded. Warm. Comfortable. Washable (although I will dryclean to maintain the newness. And cute! It’s Juicy Couture and the only difficulty I face is having to remove the coat through security. Today I chose the pat down alternative because I didn’t want to put it into the dirty bins…

Ali - love that coat – send me the info

Nina - Thanks Jessica! You too.

Jessica - Hi Nina!
Thank you for the reminder.
Facials will be my next post!
Have a great day!
Jessica

Nina - Hi Jessica. A few weeks ago I asked you about facials and how you go about choosing an aesthetician, products, etc. When you get a chance could you please let me know what you recommend. Many thanks!

kelly - that coat is darling!

valerie - girlie – i’d have done the same thing.

Ksea Cantonwine - I agree with the pat down. Good Choice. I’m a big Juicy fan myself. I also love the coat. =)

Heather - I would have opted for the pat down too, rather than putting it in the yucky bins!! Love the coat!!!!

Heather

Wow, you’re right!
This would be a GREAT quote for a (your!) closet.
Here’s another one that would be inspiring daily:
“The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you.” -Coco Chanel
The woman was amazing. Truly.
Jess

Jeanette - I think I just found the perfect quote for my closet. LOVE it! And love the dress you are wearing!!

Gwen - TOO TRUE!!!

Road trip.

Road trip today from Charlotte to Greensboro for Jeffrey’s public seminar there. Fun to travel by car for a change when airplanes have been my primary method of transportation for the past three years. And just as we got into the city, out of the corner of my eye, I saw this!

valerie - how cool is that?! it would seem weird to see my face on a billboard…what about Jeffrey?

Christina - How neat is that? I live in Greensboro and have not seen that sign yet. Is Jeffery your husband? I found your blog thru Ali’s blog…

Carrie - How cool to see the billboard. :)
