Pucci and Chanel (the quilted bags and the tweed suits) stand the test of time. One of my most favorite (if not THE favorite) parts of the holiday season is gift wrapping. My brother used to pay me to wrap the presents he bought for others. I love picking out the paper and a cute corresponding ribbon and tag. This year, I’ve found several great papers at The Container Store… Better late than never…my fav tights have taken me through working for CHANEL, so they have remained a staple in my wardrobe. What great paper I love it! Thanks for the heads up! Grace That toile paper is gorgeous! As for opaque tights, I’m a huge fan of DKNY hosiery, but surprisingly I picked up a pair from Vera Wang, from her new line at Kohls, and was happy with the opaque-factor (opaquity? opaqueness?) along with the comfort. Oh my gosh, I’ve never heard of two sided tights. Leave it to Spanx to produce unique accessories for us gals. Hi Melanie, One of my favorites too, I love wrapping gifts! My MIL just passed on some vintage papers that I am loving using. Have you seen all the cool stuff Martha Stewart has come out with for Michaels? She has some very pretty wrapping paper (found some on clearance over the weekend), stylish stuff to package up baked goods and all the tags and ribbons to match. I love it! Hi Tiffany! On the high fashion vs. charity front…interesting debate. My vote is to chose fewer high-end, quality items. Sometimes cheaper can be as cute, but because of its quality, ends up in the landfill quite a bit sooner. I’ve had the same Dooney and Bourke wallet for 9 years now – OK, I’m a bad example – I really do need a new wallet, just can’t let go. Hi Jessica, The diaper bags are cute but so are the ones at Target, and they cost a lot less. Petunia Pickle bags are too expensive. Think how many children in the 3rd world could be fed on the money. Leaving this morning from Eugene, Oregon (Ali’s hometown) for Charlotte. I’ve had these two outfits up on my desktop for quite some time. So much inspiration within them. They’re both head-to-toe Chanel. And I love them. I love them too! Looking around at all the natural beauty here on the coast is the ultimate reminder of all we have in this world to be thankful for.Found an interesting ad in Harper’s Bazaar… Hi there- I found your blog from Ali’s site awhile ago and always like your fashion posts. My take: Given that design purses and items cost an obscene amount of money people are going to buy imitation products. And do we know that the producers of the real items don’t use child labor? If designer products cost a reasonable amount of money there would be no need of imitation products so these designers are just as much to blame for the exploitation of children in 3rd world countries. i know nothing of fashion but i enjoyed reading that article. So against these. I have found my opinion has grown stronger the more I learn about them. I don’t know how I feel about this topic. On one hand, these counterfeit goods are the only way some families survive. Although I disagree with forced child labor, many years ago it was simply a way of life for children to work on farms and such. And, although the “craftsmanship” of some designer good is the issue of the price, should a Dior bag cost $18,000 – more than my car and more than some people make in a year? It is very sad that the fake bags may have been made by Children, but so are t-shirts from Kmart…. It is a problem accross the board, just ask Kathy Lee !;-) Trafficking counterfeit goods supports organized crime and terrorism. While child labor of any sort, in any location is an atrocity, providing untraceable funds to crime syndicates who then murder innocent people is an abominable offense. Oh dear, I literally feel sick and I haven’t even read the whole article yet… I went to a knock-off party at a neighbour’s house last month and bought a Coach wallet and some Chanel sunglasses etc.. I never thought that the items would have been made by children – didn’t even think about who would have made them. So dreadfully sorry that I supported this in any way. I don’t have a problem with copy cats. Anyone who can afford the $2500 bag will buy it. Those of us who can’t, will never buy it. So why shouldn’t there be an affordable alternative?????? Low income people like fashion too! Friends don’t let friends buy counterfeit. Thanks for the timely reminder. Don’t even get me started on the whole “Goach” bags. It’s one thing to compliment someone by imitation, but it’s another to downright copy and sell for profit. It would definitely be a splurge, but it’s so versatile, yet has SO much style and would be a real foundation piece to my wardrobe. Shasta Stairs - Who said anything was simple! My # 1 fashion item is the perfect white summer top. The one that’s this exquisite mix of high fashion with a hippie chic bohemian flair. It’s that easy blouse to throw on while you float through the flea markets on a warm summer day, looking effortlessly chic hidden behind new Burberry shades (my current passion…but not available in Canada – BOO!). All the while knowing it really is just smoke and mirrors! This top is not that simple. This top is not effortlessly chic. It is, in fact, next to impossible to pin down. It’s rare and delicate; the one that truly is a diamond in the rough. It transcends time and style. And at the end of the day it’s quintessentially me!

I just started a new job this week, and have to upgrade my whole wardrobe! So, my wish list is pretty long.I’d say the #1 item though, is a pair of shoes that are comfortable enough for the walk to the office, but still look good around the office. Oh, and a cute dress for the office Christmas party next week.

Amy - Every time you do a give away, I’m amazed at how many people comment! Wow, I guess I’m guilty of being a long time reader & not commenting very often, so this is fun to read everyones #1 fashion item on their wish list.
Currently, I’d have to say I need an amazing pair of black boots. Shoes can make or break an outfit & although some may not agree, mine need to be comfortable enough to walk in! Not walk around the city comfortable, but function in my daily life comfortable (around the office, run an errand here or there, or for a night out without screaming feet).

Jen - I have a beautiful black and white houndstooth check light wool coat with 3/4 length sleeves and large ivory-colored buttons that belonged to my grandmother. It’s in nearly perfect condition and I love to wear it! My #1 fashion wish is long black leather gloves to go with it. It’s easy enough to find wrist-length gloves, but where does one find the long elegant gloves that fashionable women in the 50s and 60s always seem to have on hand?

My #1 this year will be to find a long black coat. I desperately need one and can never find one that I like enough to buy. I also need to buy a few new pairs of Sunglasses. Erica Hettwer - Hmmm, good question. I’ve got a few things on my fashion plate right now. I would like to find a nice chocolate brown Coach purse with nickel accents and a cute coat or two with long enough sleeves for my ridiculously long arms. But, like Barbra posted above, I’d love to find a pair of black boots that don’t bunch at the ankle, are slim enough for my skinny, little calves and actually reach my knees!!!

I would love to have a new handbag, yesterday while I was sitting in traffic, a man stole my handbag that was next to me out of my hand through my vehicle window! I live in South Africa and crimes like these are so common! I have no handbag, no purse, no credit cards, ID documentation nor my favourite starbucks bubblegum holder.
