New Year’s Eve.

Hello fashion friends. Cheers to you and the coming New Year! It's tough not to think and reflect on the past year on this eve of 2008. To think back to the fun times. The great memories. And lots of firsts. (My first trip to Singapore, Australia, Poland, and Germany. So much new knowledge. So…

Jessica Fulkerson - Do you have a favorite stylist or one whom you follow the work of?
I know you mentioned Rachel Zoe here before. I’m a fan of her work, but so very much not of her so it’s hard for me to separate the two. ;)

Liz - I’m listening too – can’t wait to hear what this is all about!

jenn - Fashion shoot? Awesome! Congrats! I know nothing about fashion lol BUT I love checking in here on your blog! Its very cool! Keep up the good work :)

julie - yes, tell us about the fashion shoot!!

sara - mmmmm…love that look for the hair. certainly don’t think i could pull it off…but it looks great on her…
will your book be about fashion?
and do tell about the shoot!

Ksea Cantonwine - Upcoming fashion shoot??? OK girl.. spill the beans! LOL!

2007 Moments.

I’m grateful to have had the last couple weeks to be in Charlotte – to organize, work, relax, celebrate Christmas, and get ready for 2008. I’m also reflecting on so many great things that happened in my life in 2007. I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season. Here are some of my favorite fashion moments…

Carrie - Hey girl! You look gorgeous in all of these!! My two faves are the salmon colored dress in the beach photo on the first row and the turquoise print dress on the third row. I remember when you posted that one. I was inspired by your combination of tights and shoes with that dress.
Hope you had a great Christmas! I am here in Vietnam. I totally enjoyed reading Yes!Attitude on the flight over here. Thanks again so much!!
Take care,
Carrie

Jeanette - My favorite fashion find in ’07 was a DVF vintage wrap dress in two of my favorite colors – beige and black. And today, I purchased a lovely casual Ralph Lauren cardigan and slacks, which I’m anxious to wear.
The montage of your wardrobe are fabulous and inspiring. Happy 2008 and all the best for a fashion-filled year!

Tammy - Jessica,
I have enjoyed reading your blog since finding it through Ali’s. You, like your sister, are very inspiring. Just in a different way. I love seeing your travels, food, restaurants, stylish clothes, and great hairdos. I must ask you how you developed your style? I want to look better and dress better and just feel great about my look as often as I can. What advice would you give a 33yr. old mom who wants to be hip and sexy and full of confidence from here on out!
By the way, that nasty poster is WAY jealous and probably insecure. When I come across someone who is talented or gifted in some way I want to compliment them. I appreciate fabulous people/things. Keep up the great work!

noell - Jessica–I noticed your comment on Ali’s most recent blog posting and, wondering who you were, I found myself here and realized you’re her baby sister. How adorable you are, too! I’m subscribing to your blog and can’t wait to see what other style-tips you have to share.
By the way, my husband is a salesman and I asked him if he knows Jeffrey Gitomer (because I learned of him on your blog). He’s read a few of his (and your) books. Small world…Ali leads me to you and you lead me to a sales writer my husband reads. Fun stuff.

Anita - Jessica, What I’ve admired the most about your blog since I’ve started visiting a couple months ago is your self-confidence. And you always post with class. I wish you a Happy New Year and can’t wait to see more of the latest in clothes, hairstyles (my fav), and your wonderful travels in 2008.

Kerry - Hi Jessica! You are such an inspiration! Must run in the family. I’m a stay at home Mom and I don’t get dressed up too often so I love to see the cute casual looks you come up with. Happy New Year! Kerry

Kimberly L.C. - I’m gonna vote for your look when you were in the Bahamas (?) the melon-colored dress that you wore with those cute Dior open-toed sandals (the single pic in the second row of pics). You looked so chic and at peace there and the outfit looked divine with your tan.
I’m a frequent reader and I enjoy what you post! Have a great 2008!

sara - i’m going to vote too…fave look is the dress, second row from the bottom, looks like a cream belt.
but, my fave picture of you is the close-up right above the purple/red/black dress picture.
also, your response to cnn taught me something. it made me think of how i would have responded…and unfortunately, i tend to sink to the level of someone like that (which is horrible!) I loved how you responded and will try to apply the technique to my own life when needed. i admire your confidence.
might you post some of your goals/hopes for 08? I bet you are spending new year’s eve somewhere lovely. have fun and be safe.

Jessica Fulkerson - So fun! Who makes the jacket in the 7th row, center picture? I can’t afford most of the designer items you wear, but that one had me drooling. I like the (very slight) punk tones to the bottom straps.
Happy New Years!

Amy - I know you didn’t ask us, your readers, for our favorite look of yours, but I have to vote–I love that picture of you-it’s the third one down from the top, on the left, with your hair pulled back. I remember when you posted that and talked about having a little bit of a tan then and I was envious that you get to see sun at times of the year when I don’t. Also love the photo of you with the short tan coat, wearing the sunglasses.
As for favorite looks of myself, I’m trying to grow out a baaaaaaaad haircut, so my favorite look is my hair pre-cut. Ugh.
Happy New Year!

tammy t - Hi Jessica,
Just wanted to thank you for your blog and the inspiration you provide. Just bought Zoe’s book and have found it and your blog to be just the challenge I need to live a more stylish life!
All the best in 2008!
t

alexandra - Hi Jessica,
Absolutely loved your repsonse to ‘CNN’ – he or she obviously knows nothing about you.
Anyway… great photo montage – fun to reflect on the year’s fashion choices.
Have a Happy New Year!!

sylvia - love your blog. found it through ali’s. love her blog too! can’t wait to see what fashion inspirations 2008 brings for you!!
happy new year!!

perfect bound - Well stated Jessica. And as always, well styled. Happy New Year!

Melanie - I’m happy to hear you had a great holiday! What did you do to celebrate away from your family? I’m also curious to hear what little gems Santa brought you!

Nina - Love the photo montage, Jessica. Happy New Year and God Bless.

kelly - gorgeous! let’s trade wardrobes for 2008, eh? ;)

Carol - Hi Jessica
I second Ksea’s comments. As “snarky” as I can be at times, I’ve never once thought of you as conceited or full of yourself – just someone passionate about clothes and wanting to share your passion. So there!
I’ve enjoyed the clothes you document – and frankly – want that blue/white dress that has overtones of Pucci!
Happy New Year!
Carol

Ksea Cantonwine - Love the retrospective, Jess! I am glad you had a great Holiday!

jenn - i have truly enjoyed reading your blog since linking through ali’s site.
the internet is full of nasty people and i am glad to see you are impervious to their taunting.
the retrospective collage was a visual diary of your outfits this past year. if the loathsome poster was a regular reader of this blog they would know that.
looking forward to your postings in 2008.

Jessica - Hi CNN,
Thanks for visiting. I especially enjoy when people leave challenging comments to me on my blog – but don’t have the guts or the internal fortitude to provide their real name or their own blog address. Perhaps you don’t have your own blog, or your own way to keep a photographic chronicle of your life. I encourage you to do so.
You are correct. I am full of myself. I am happy and confident and excited about life. There’s no reason I can’t post the pictures of myself that I like. If you’re uninterested in my blog, make your own and be proud of it.
Wishing you all the best,
Jessica

cnn - You are obviously quite full of yourself.

jenn - Glad you had a wonderful holiday!!! Have a very happy New Years!!!

Carrie - Hey – are those the “Ginger” 7 jeans you have in the 12.14 picture? I have some of those on order that should be in today! :)

tammy t - So unrelated to your post, but have you visited http://www.decadesinc.blogspot.com? I think of you every time I look at the postings there! It seems like a great resource for vintage clothing and such!
t

Ksea Cantonwine - LOVE THIS!

Holly T - Neat…scarfs with or without these directions would make a wonderful Christmas gift too! Thanks.

alexandra - Love these ideas – thank you!!

Danielle - Thanks for the pictures. I wore my scarf today like a headband. It was fun!

Florent.

Love this restaurant in the Meatpacking District. Jeffrey and I stopped in for a quick bite before leaving the city yesterday. I had a garden salad with miso ginger dressing, macaroni and cheese, and french onion soup. Delightful! And they have the cutest matchbooks.

kelly - i saw from your schedule that you’re in chicago… i am a chicago food expert ;)
let me know if you have time for some recommendations for good eats.

DVF.

When Jeffrey and I arrived at the DVF Studio in the Meatpacking district of Manhattan last night, Diane was standing at the top of her Swarovski crystal decorated grand staircase. A site I will forever remeber. "Hello, I’m Diane von Furstenberg," she said in the most enchanting voice as she extended her hand to greet…

sara - wow…great evening! you looked great! i just love nyc, too! my mom and i go once a year to shop and hang out.
i bet all lowercase typing drives you nuts as an editor–but i am trying to feed the baby with my other hand!
here’s a male fashion question i’ve been wondering about… with a navy suit or a dark brown suit…can a guy wear both brown AND black shoes or should he only wear brown?

kelly - so fabulous!!!!
and you look gorgeous… love the pockets in that gold dress :)

Ksea Cantonwine - Thanks so much for sharing your experience. What a wonderful opportunity!!

Jeanette - Her style is classic, and that is what I love about DVF. And the blue cashmere wrap you have on is stunning. Makes me want to shop. :)
I’m so glad you shared your moment with DVF with us.

julie - wow! what an amazing eperience!

Jessica Fulkerson - Sounds like an amazing night.. I love DvF dresses and was always drawn to *her* as a person and designer (I think she reminds me of my late grandmother).
I really love this one: http://www.dvf.com/dvf/browse/productDetailWithPicker.jsp?productId=D6573244O7&categoryId=DRESSES :)

Life Event.

I came across the invitation to attend Designer Dialogue with Diane von Furstenberg several months ago. I knew immediately that I would do whatever it took to attend. She’s been a fashion mentor of mine for quite some time. I love her designs. I admire her history. Take some time to explore her site. I…

kelly - i love #1
can’t wait to hear all about it :)

danielle - Dude- you have to choose the pink. It takes, ahem, balls to wear it and it looks good! Go for it girl!

Christina - I love them all but the black is just stunning…love it! I can’t wait to see what you choose :)

tammy t - I know you aren’t asking for votes, but I think you would look stunning in the silver. Can’t wait to hear about your visit!
t

Ana - go with choice one!

Jeanette - Whatever you choose, I’m sure it will be stunning on you. I look forward to hearing more about your dialogue with DVF. What an opportunity!

Greta Puckett - I pick the silver!

Gwen - My vote is the black. It seems warm and comfy down those cold NY streets! Hope you have fun! So jealous!

Carrie - That is so exciting, Jessica!! I adore her classic, graphic designs, especially her dresses. I don’t know much about her or her history — I’ll have to read sometime.
By the way, I got the most festively wrapped package in the mail last week from a certain “secret weapon”… I have not opened it yet — I am waiting until I have time to really enjoy it! I’m thinking that my flight to Vietnam might provide me the perfect opportunity to really dig in! Thank you so much. :)
Have a great time tonight!! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

suzanne - if you’re asking for opinions, i vote for the pink! haven’t seen that color in your wardrobe, altho i’m sure you have it! love keeping up with your blog! you’re fashionably inspiring!

Inspiration.

Packing for a weekend at the beach and Jeffrey's Sales Boot Camp. Followed by a night in NYC for the meet and greet with Diane von Furstenberg. Found the above picture in a great little book I picked up at Powell's in Portland, Oregon, during my last visit. It's called Off The Wall: Fashion From…

Mom - I think it is so great that you are studying some of the History of Fashion on your own. I know you really admire DV and will enjoy meeting her.
Love, Mom

Alexandra - So fabulous that you’ll be meeting DVF!
Enjoy!

Amy - Great pictures, love those. Have fun on your trip & meeting DVF. I met her here at Nordstrom when she launched her makeup line, she was so charming.

Pink!

I so enjoyed reading everyone’s fashion wish. One of my favorites was Nichole’s reference to the Jimmy Choo fuschia heels pictured below (and in their current cruise ad campaign. How amazing are they? Her challenge to me was what I would wear them with… Well, it just so happens that I recently picked up this…

katie - Jessica,
I’ll be wearing it to a work related party.
Thanks!

Jessica - Hi Katie,
Can you let me know what type of event you’re planning to wear the dress to? What is the climate?
That will help!
Jessica

katie - Jessica,
I love reading your blog and seeing all of the fabulous inspiration. So, I’m wondering if you could give me a little advice, I have this dress in black
http://www.bcbg.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2837927&cp=2939729.2947885&view=all&clickid=cat_leftnav_txt&parentPage=family
And my question is, what hose (if any) do I wear and what type of shoes and accessories will truly complement the look?
Thank-you!

Jessica - Hi Jessica,
The waistband is questionable – but I have a Milly dress similar to this one and it looks beautiful.
I’m adding captions to all the outfits now.
Cheers!
jessica

Jessica Fulkerson - I love that dress, but do you think the waist is too “elastic band”-ish and would look cheap irl? Gorgeous back though!
By the way, I miss seeing you list the brand names with your outfit of the days. I always appreciated those captions!

Jessica - Hi Tammy,
I can’t think of any ONE thing on my list. I’m always adding to my collection and right now I’m looking for things that are really unique that will one day be great vintage finds.
Happy Shopping!
jessica

kelly - LOVE your little hat!

tammy t - After reading all the wish lists I am wondering what is on yours? Is there something you are wanting for Christmas?
Love the photo of the day. You inspire me daily!
t

Jessica - Hi Kribss,
The sweater from the 12.01.07 post is from JCrew – love it and the little pockets on the front are both cute and

The outfit from 12.02.07 is a sweater dress that I found at Anthropologie last winter. I paired it over a black James Perse v-neck tee and finished with a black Fendi belt.
Thanks for visiting!
Jessica

kribss - where did you get your outfit for today and the sweater from yesturdays fashion choices? love them and loving your blog :o )

Jessica - Hi Alexandra!
The photo in my banner is a small glimpse into my closet.
It’s a fun place!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.
Jessica

alexandra - so enjoying your choices.
I could use an injection of colour and high-style in my wardrobe – something to work on. You’ve got me thinking outside the suburban box!
You must have an amazing closet – ever posted a photo of it??

Jeanette - The Choos are an awesome complement to the hat. I’m enjoying all the fashion inspiration here, Jessica. And I’m ordering the Rachel Zoe book, all due to your influence!
Happy Sunday!
