Ice Cream!

After a short trip in and out of Vancouver, Canada, Jeffrey and I are finally on our way back to Charlotte from the family visit in Seattle. I'm happy to be headed home. Jeffrey and I are now waiting for our flight to Charlotte at the Dallas airport. He went on a mission to get…

chellie - All I can think of is how sweet that Jeffrey is. Seriously.. how cute is that? He was so determined to get his pregnant woman exactly what she wanted. Wow. Yay for Jeffrey!

e - that is so funny and sweet! i bet that took a lot of effort to order – haha. definitely the thought that counts.

Elaine L - love that!
made me smile on this rainy Toronto monday morning

lacy - OMG if I had a penny for all the moments like those! It is so the thought that counts but girl I felt you on the b&J (we had a hot love affair a few years and 20 pounds ago). that is my absolute fave. What an effort he must have gone to to make it right for you. SO cute!
Been looking at my closet and thinking of shoes… A question

Family.

We had a delightful Edwards/McDougall/Gitomer/McDougall family Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law Liz threw a baby shower for my sister Ali and me. So nice to see all the ladies in the family and some of my favorite friends from home too. I've got lots of thank you notes to write for the wonderful goodies! Best dressed at…

Carrie - Ah, what a lovely family picture! So great that they had a shower for you two.
And yes, Liz is a fabulous veil maker. I know from experience. :)

christina - so fun! thank you for sharing! your family is so lovely!

Jessie - Love the family thanksgiving picture Jess. I am very thankful I got to see you this last week. And even more thankful none of the double chin pictures made it to the internet (untag!) Love you.

MUJI.

The highlight of a five-hour layover at JFK's Terminal 5 on Satruday was the Muji to Go store. I've been wanting to go to this store in New York since it opened, but haven't had the chance. They have the coolest little pen sets, paper pads, little city block sets, and clear containers. Here's a…

Nina - Love that store! They make the cutest and “friendliest” TSA travel accessories.

Holland 3.

Jeffrey and I had plans to visit Anne Frank's house this morning, but never made it. (Now I have another reason to visit Amsterdam again.) I needed more sleep than I thought, and it was super windy and cold outside. When I finally got up, we decided to stay in Haarlem for the last day….

tammyt - Beautiful photos. Love reading about your travels. Your hat is wonderful!

Christina - I still enjoy your blog so much and enjoy your fashion style :)
That plate of bruschetta looks wonderful and it is making me hungry!
Take Care!
Christina from NC

Linda - It is the mark of a great blog…that today I discovered both I and my teenage daughter have your blog marked as a favorite. Earlier this fall, I used your blog as the basis for a “care package from home” for two college age daughters. Today our high school daughter pointed me to the boots you have posted as a “really would love these for Christmas” item. Well done!

Jessie - Can’t wait to see you Jess!

Holland 2.

Beautiful plants on the street in Haarlem, The Netherlands. We took a taxi specifically to go to kidsfactory – a store I discovered online before we arrived here. Wow – I'm so glad we did. It's like everything I wished Babies R Us (which I'm not a big fan of) was in the United States. Lots…

Sarah - That store looks great, wish we had one over here!

jessica - Hi Jessie and Vicki!
Unfortunately kidsfactory doesn’t ship to the US – so I couldn’t get any of their furniture! I got several little small goodies. My favorite thing is a red tin box (a bit bigger than a lunchbox) that has a big white cross on it. It’s for first aid items. Cute! I also found one little stuffed animal and several clothing items. I’ll post pictures of them when I get home tomorrow!
Cheers,
Jessica

{vicki} - Man, that is the coolest bike “street”!!!!
What did you get there?
{vicki}

Jessie - Really cool find. Did you get anything?

Ann - What a great idea to have a bike path with different terrains for kids to test bikes out.

Holland.

Today Jeffrey and I rode the train from Haarlem to Amsterdam (about 17 minutes). European trains are fascinating. We bought the tickets two minutes before the train was departing, ran up the stairs to the track, and jumped on. I'm loving the cheese croissants. It's incredible to see the amount of bikes that exist here….

jenn - Looks like a fabulous time :) Love the photos!!

José (It's a Dutch Girlsname) - Glad you like the Netherlands! Love to see what’s interesting to you guys!
Don’t know if you eat meat; but you have to try “bitterballen”(in a café..)
And you really shoud eat “Poffertjes” (little pancakes!)

perfect bound - Glad to see you are still jumping on trains! It took us 3 hours to figure out the reservation, euro rail system in Italy. It was time well spent, however, as I too find European train stations fascinating! Enjoy.

MNScrapbookmom - Kyra - Enjoy every moment… it looks like a facinating place. :) ¥

We made it!

After almost exactly 24 hours of travel, we arrived at our hotel in Haarlem, The Netherlands, just outside of Amsterdam. This is the clock you see out the window of the hotel. It's part of the St. Bavo church tower. It's beautiful here. Stempels, the hotel we're staying at, is right in the heart of…

Javacurls - Love the Stempels. What a great way to renovate a bank…turn it into a trendy hotel/restaurant and bar. We stayed there about 2 years ago during the tulip season. Loved it. Have fun!

José (It's a Dutch Girlsname!) - Your visiting ‘my’ country right now! How much fun! What are you’re plans over here?
Have a great time here in Holland..
x José
btw; the most people here can speak English very well.. So they will translate things on the menu for you.. (but most restaurants do have an English menu!)

Mom - I’m so happy for you to be able to visit Amsterdam…and all the other cities that you have had a chance to experience with Jeffrey. I hope you are feeling well and enjoying your experience. Love, Mom

Heather H. - Of course you HAD to eat at a place called Pasta Di MAMMA, you wonderful MAMMA to be! I miss your face BAD, but have a great time there sweetheart! <3

tammyt - Beautiful photos! I have heard that Amsterdam is lovely…you are making me want to go there more than ever. Have a great trip!

Adventure.

I'll be headed across the Atlantic this evening – looking forward to my first Amsterdam visit! But for now, the plane is stuck on the ground in Charlotte because of weather delays at JFK.

Anastasia - Have fun! I’ve always wanted to fly Virgin Atlantic, is that the airline you took? I heard they have manicurist on flight, they don’t fly out of ATL though :( .

Ali - Bummer. Hate that – hope you made it safe and sound.

MNScrapbookmom - Kyra - That’s a long flight… Enjoy your trip… be safe. Hope you will post photos. Kyra¥

jenn - Enjoy your trip :)

Jessie - I like this picture of you Jess.

Style Challenge.

I received a question from Carrie in AZ that read… My husband and I are planning a 7-day trip to a theme park where we plan on being at the theme parks for 6 of the 7 days, from open to close. We will be visiting when the temperatures will be cold, so I know…

alexandra - I love the idea of spending more time on your hair when your outfit is sporty. Why didn’t I figure that one out already?? Now when I’m dressed for family/kid-friendly activities I won’t feel like such a slouch!!
Thanks, Jessica!

Barb @ getupandplay - Great advice about hair “dressing up” an outfit! It is so true! Even if you’re wearing sporty, athletic wear, having your hair looking great will polish the whole look!

lacy - Very cool! Each time I read a post like that I realize that my heart is in it (fashion) but I’m still just not quite there on putting it all together in a great way. Since we never got to get together for my shopping spree I just wanted to say thank you for even being willing to do such a thing. Sometimes it is more the gesture that things are possible then the execution you know. So thanks ever so kindly for that!
Be well and keep growing a happy beautiful baby!

RachelG - I love the third photo, could you please tell us what you are wearing.

Kerry - Jessica, you are amazingly amazing! I love looking at all of your outfits. You have such great style. I was looking back through your ‘today’s style’ photos the other night to get some ideas of how you wear your scarves + some cute casual looks. You really inspired me. Hope you are feeling well!

karen - Great Denim and a wonderful navy blue wool blazer. Are essential that are always the first items in my suitcase when I travel during cooler weather.

melissa - Great tips Jessica!!
I totally agree with the legging idea, comfy yet stylish. I wore leggins with black boots and my grey bubble coat while out for the day on Sunday, I felt so super cute all day long!
