New Year’s Eve.

I'm happy to be safe and at home in Charlotte this New Year's Eve – in my comfy clothes, relaxing! But that definitely doesn't stop me from daydreaming about what I would be wearing if I was spending a night on the town! New Year's is an excuse to go a little over the top…

Lindsay - im feeling pretty good about my flannel pjs! this is the first day since saturday that im not sick, so we decided to take it easy and relax at home. we’d planned to go out for sushi so i ran out and picked some up for my husband and got some miso soup for me – he was totally surprise when he got home from work. happy new year, jessica! what an exciting year 2009 will be for you!

Deals.

It's been a super relaxing week around here. The weather in Charlotte is mild and comfortable. Today it was sunny and 66 degrees. (Not looking a bit like Christmas!) I'm getting a TON of organizing done. And I took advantage of some of the great after-Christmas online deals! Here's a glimpse at a few of…

jessica - Hi Kristine – From what I can see, that coat is sold out online. But I found this on their site – and they may be able to locate one in their stores for you:
“Our personal shoppers can help.
Call 866 739 5946 or email erica@jcrew.com to get started”
The online item number was 96309.
Good luck!
Jessica

Carrie - Yes, I have spent LOTS of money at JCrew lately. :)

Kristine - Oh, I love the purple jacket…Is it sold out? I can’t find it! Can you link it…
Love your blog!
Kristine

Holly T. - Wow…those are some great deals. Thanks for the tips.
I had some nursing tank tops that I loved back when I was nursing my little ones. My favorite for sure…way more comfortable since you tend to change cup size quickly while nursing (like within hours if you have a hungry little one!) :0)

Katie - Thanks for all the sale information….looks like you snagged some great finds!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas! I created a fun kid's table for Jeffrey's granddaughters! It's fun to be festive!  Here is the basic gingerbread cookie recipe I used: 1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. shortening1/2 c. dark molasses1/4 c. water3/4 tsp. salt3/4 tsp. ground ginger1/2 tsp. baking soda1/4 tsp. ground allspice2 1/2 c. all…

Mom - So fun to see the Cross-stitch Santa I made for you and Jeffrey on your Blog. I am working on another one, but the design is more complicated and it’s harder to see in the light we have here in our Mokihana room. I hope your days are Merry and bright! Love, Mom

Aimee - Adorable table! Happy New Year Jessica:)

jenn - Merry Christmas Jes!!! And great job on the kids table :) love it!

Claudia Wolff - Merry Xmas, Jessica!

Jessica Fulkerson - naaaah. i like the look of them but i’m still all about the skinnies- they’re just more my slightly rockerish style.
cute look though. i like them somewhere in the middle of your bottom two pictures- casual but chic- more like reese or rachel above.

Elizabeth Bienas - i like it on certain people, but overall i’m not a fan. they wouldn’t work on me. i like the Reese photo with the cute tshirt and the dressy one with the glittery top.

liz - I think I like it best as Reese is wearing it, with a figure flattering/hugging t-shirt that shows your “feminine side” and I like the slightly rolled hem too – womens ankles are pretty I think. My thoughts.

Amanda - I think it’s a look very few people can pull off. Katie Holmes is not one of them. It’s not something I would do.

karen - ick , ish , ugh !

tracy - I agree that I too go back and forth, and also agree that if done I would prefer a dressy top, however I’m still not sold on the jeans. The best I’ve seen them look is on the above photo of Reese Witherspoon!

Volume.

This is a fun and easy way to get a little more volume no matter what your hair length is. First, I blew dry all my hair straight using a round brush. Then I sectioned the hair on top of my head and set it in rollers. And then I smoothed all the hair…

Anne-Camille Collins - I just want to say THANK YOU for this post!!!
I recently cut my hair about to the length of yours and I have been struggling with how to do it!!!
THANK YOU!

Elizabeth Bienas - that looks really pretty.
is your hair fine? mine is — i have a lot of it, but it’s pretty fine and hard to pump up or curl in any way.

MNScrapbookmom - Kyra - After coming to the comment section, I see all my questions already typed here. Roller size and type, type/brand of finishing spray, and what type/brand of straightener do you use? I am very interested in hearing all these intriquite details as my hair never looks even close to as wonderful as yours does. Perhaps it’s the type of hair that I have – that is the most contributing factor. I would appreciate any input. Thanks. :) ¥

jennifer - hey, thanks for the tip. i’m always looking for new ways to do my hair. i have hot rollers but i’m thinking mine are too small. i have really thick hair though so it’s hard for me to use rollers, sometimes the volume is too much and I look like 80′s big bar hair. LOL or if the rollers are too small and tight I look like shirley temple on crack. LOL

Cindy - Oh do please tell me what kind of rollers and clips you are using. I always am sooooo looking for the ultimate volume at the roots:) I love your blog and all it’s fashion goodness:)

knmkendall - Your hair looks terrific! What size rollers are those? I need to get myself some bigger ones. Thanks!

Shelly - I love this look but i have super fine hair. Mine will do this, but only for a short time and then it’s flat again (no flat iron needed!).
I’d love to know what finishing spray you are using – your hair looks fine too – or maybe it’s just nice a sleek/smooth. :)

Ann - Oh, but you have such great hair!! My hair is too thick in the back and too thin on the top. It creates a mushroom like effect when I try to do anything with it.
What styling products do you use and how often do you wash you hair? I’ve read and heard that it’s best to only wash hair once or twice a week max (with shampoo), but I just can’t seem to do it.

danielle - Cute! I am going to try that!

nadine - i’m getting a haircut! i haven’t had one in well over 4 months so i think it’s time for something new!

Theresa - I’ve had such a hectic month – tons of drama at work and moving to a new home in a new city – that I’ve had zero time to be glamorous, let alone really enjoy the holidays. But I’m getting to the airport extra early this weekend so I can treat myself to a mani-pedi before heading home for Christmas!

Heather H. - A few weeks ago I made the decision to part with 7″ of hair! Now I wear it down with some loose curls and love it! Before this I pulled back in a pony tail or twisted it up and that was it. I feel so much prettier!

Cindy - A new cut & coloring my hair. Also having pedicure.

Jennifer Scott - I just found out I’ve lost my job.
It’s a huge bummer, but I’ve decided to invite over a big group of friends for a new years get together. I told every boy to wear his finest suit and tie and every girl to wear her prettiest dress.
We’ll just be at my house, but I’ll fix some fun appetizers and desserts and everyone will look extra special to ring in the new year!
I think it’s just what I need to turn this negative into a positive. Good friends, good food, and a little sparkle!

Shelbie - I’ll be changing my hair color and pulling out the fabulous clothes I stayed away from with a new baby last year. I miss getting all dressed up and I can’t wait to get going.

Cheryl Chambers - Two pairs of Cole Haan loafers–one in pewter and one in gold. I’ll pair them with black slacks or a black skirt, and one of many jackets that contain subtle but glittery fibers/threads. Love the holidays!

Cristina - Hmmm… I’m ending the year on a “glamorous” note. We decided to go glam this year for New Years. We’re getting dressed up and having a nice dinner on the Queen Mary and attending the big party on board. Should be fun… and cold! :)

Becky - I have updated my make-up @ Sephora.

Grace Hester Designs - I have put in the effort to really dress up and use my “glamour-accessories” which I have not used since I bought them pre-babies, to the 2 parties I have been to this year.

Camille - those colors are gorge!
glamming it up this year with some dangly earrings, shimmering lotion, and a few new pieces to the wardrobe… thanks for the great giveaway!

Michelle D - I have pretty short nails and have not worn a polish other than “natural looking” on my hands in years. This past weekend we had a holiday party and I opted (the girls pushed me) for a deep red (hint of brown) polish and I LOVED it! It felt like I had new hands. I need to remember to embrace new things.

julie s. - hmm… I’m still working on glamorous. Mine is more of a rough and tumble family. Maybe some fancy fingers are just the boost I’m looking for!

Karen - I’ve lost 30 pounds so everything is glam! I love it! (Boy was it some work!)

jenny - Glam-0-Rama Christmas means lots of lights and sparkle. Glittery earrings and lotion. :)

NC Jennifer - My husband is buying me a glamorous ring for Christmas. It is a solitaire and diamond setting to have my original diamond set in.

Mark - Going skating… ’cause I work :)

Shawn - those colors are absolutely gorgeous!!!! Well I’m not sure if this counts as glamourous but I am taking photos of friends families for the season for those who can’t afford to go and get their pictures taken. Just a little way that I can give back. You are just glowing by the way! Happy holidays to you and your family!

Alison - I’ve lost 22 pounds so I’m buying new clothes to wear for all of our parties!

perfect bound - wearing one of these fabulous colors, of course. gold on my fingers and gold on my toes.

stacy - pick me! pick me! Glamming it up with a mani/pedi and pretty new maternity frock (from Target, no less). I’m 8 mos. preg. so can’t reach my toes anymore!
Congrats on your pregnancy- love seeing pix of your cool baby stuff….

Claudia Wolff - Hey, Jessica! Mike treated me to a bottle of Coco Mademoiselle parfum for Christmakkah, so Chanel is as glamourous as glamourous can get!

Tonya A - As a SAHM my life isn’t all that glamorous, but throwing on a nice pair of heels for a party or dinner get together helps me feel a bit glamorous!

Danielle Pasley - I am getting my hair cut, colored, and topping it all off with an airbrush tan! But I think the thing that is going to make my Christmas the most glamorous is wearing one of the pins my 95 year old grandma just gave me from her collection!

Stephanie - I am going to use my grandmother’s vintage brooch with my usual black dress. It will make my “re-purposed” outfit look glamorous!

{vicki} - I never thought about being glamorous for the holiday so I guess it would be to wear lots of jewelry and keep my nails painted.
{vicki}

kelly - Glamorous Party + date nite w/ my husband, w/ 3 kids I don’t always glam things up. But the party invite inspired me to!! Heels and red lipstick..hope my honey likes it!

Patty W - Cool collection!! Our baby girl is just past a year old on Christmas so unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of glamour in my life at the moment! However, for Christmas photos I’m vowing to paint my toenails a gorgeous red with gold flecks (OPI’s Revved up and Reddy) and putting on an actual top that isn’t a t-shirt or sweatshirt!
I am so enjoying seeing your pics of decor, toys, clothes, etc for your new baby-to-be, keep them coming. Thanks for the chance to win some glamour!

kelly - love the metallic colors this season :)
i’m adding a little glam by adding pink, gold & purple to the red & green this christmas.

Ronda JT - Glamming it up with a drastic new haircut and color! I LOVE IT!!!

Melanie - I hope to have some glam sister time over the holiday break – laughing about old times, giving ourselves manicures, and of course, snapping up deals the day after X-mas!

jenn - oh wow those are gorgeous!!! Well I work for myself which means not company xmas party, so my dh and I are going out for drinks at very nice spot in the city this friday and then heading to an upscale night club for an evening dancing :)

Cath - This Christmas, with my hubby post-op, glam to me will be the simple, grateful Christmas we will be having. If I am wearing a little Chanel and Hermes, well – all the better!

bridget corbin - After finishing my last final in grad school, I drove straight over to Nordstroms and bought myself Uggs as a treat to myself. I love them and wear with all the time!

Jeanette - I haven’t selected my outfit yet but plan to add some glamor by accessorizing it with a new classic Anya Hindmarch handbag I will be receiving from Santa. It’s gold and has a subtle glow to it. The Or De Russie nail color complements the bag very nicely. Chanel always does it right. Love it.

Kimberly L.C. - I bought a new coat… a black trench that I’m wearing with dresses and cute tights. It makes me look a bit more glamorous and put together.

Jen - wearing a little pink satin santa hat and skirt on christmas eve…alone with my hubby. merry merry!

Jill - My MIL gave me her mother’s vintage Persian lamb and mink coat. I will be wearing it out and about on our family visit up north. I am not usually a fur wearer, but I am excited to have a vintage family piece to spruce up my wardrobe.

Cynthia, TX - Hmmm I will stick my name in the hate for one of these lovely little cuties!
and yes if I was a sweet little baby girl all over again I would want my momme to dress me in sweet little angel wings.
p.s. my kids are now older but always spelled momme this way and it made me smile each time.

julie - so ironic that you posted this today. i actually had a dream about chanel nail polish just last night. in the dream, my sister and i were browsing at nordstroms and checking out the colors….
for christmas we’re having a tacky christmas sweater party this year. :)

Deanna - To make the holidays glamorous I’m going to get my hair done and wear some fancy jewelry :)

krista - I’m getting all dressed up and heading to New York for my first ever visit! Really looking forward to the holidays! Wishing you and yours all the best this season as well.

kah-mei - I’m getting a haircut and some new boots! Love the colors – I’m usually a plain dark red nailpolish girl and would love to try out some new colors – Chanel, no less. :) Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Kayla - I am going to make the holiday glamours by wearing my new skinny jeans, a cute shirt and red shoes. I am sure you will look great!

Valerie - So lovely. Of course that goes without saying since it’s Chanel.

Jennifer - I’m pregnant as well, and my wardrobe choices are getting smaller so I’m getting out every fabulous accessory that I can: strappy shoes, metallic leather clutch, dangly earrings. Then I’m treating myself to a day at the salon for a great cut and a pedicure.

amy - Instead of doing the xmas thing with the family, I’m inviting over all my single friends for a glamorous dinner…NO KIDS!
I’m planning on having some games ready to get people to interact and have fun! Instead of a formal dinner, I’m focusing on snacks and appetizers to keep us going for hours and hours. I’ve learned from past events that usually by the time we finish the snacking, we have no room for dinner!

Monica - My extended family does an extremely casual Christmas. I’m going to dress it up a bit, even though I’ll be the only one.

Leni Stav - We have an annual Christmas party where everyone dresses up, eats great food, consumes yummy drinks. It’s like a big Hollywood Glamor Party!

Emily - To me, glamour is wearing dresses during the holidays. And, eating brunch in your PJs in a sunny kitchen on Christmas morning!

christa - My holidays aren’t going to be very glamorous this year with the absence of my mom and brother, but it will be celebrated in my new home, so I am trying to make it as glamorous as I can with homemade decorations!

Shelly D. - It’s been a rough year. I have a couple of beautiful heirloom jewelery pieces that came to me when we lost my mother in law earlier this year. I took them to the jeweler and had them polished and repaired and now wear the extra bling proudly while remembering my mother in law. I love it.

Amber - My family is getting together for the first time in 10 years and we are having a photographer come and do some nice black and white pics for us all to have.

Chelsea Belle - Although my boyfriend will be out of town for work,(thank you college football bowl game!) and my dad is working overseas, I will be ‘glamming it up’ in Disney World with my mom and little sister.
There is nothing more glamorous than cherishing what you DO have, and that is just what I plan on doing.. with Cinderella and Pocahontas of course. :)
Merry Christmas!

Jessica Fulkerson - ooooh, beautiful.
my way the glam it up is to ditch the colorful, child-like wrapping paper and use all metallics and deep, jewel tones. i’m adding a spray painted twig / branch on top of each one for earthy pizazz.
also, being calm, patient, and thankful is the best way to radiate good energy and make day-to-day life during the hectic holidays, just a big more enjoyable.

mary - i am starting my new promise to myself in pampering and taking better care of myself- after having two kids back to back, i some how lost that! :)

Tricia - I purchased the cutest solid color cashmere sweaters (one pink and the other red) with swarovski buttons…glamorous! Will be perfect for our night out at “Wicked” and other holiday parties. Love the colors of the polish!
Tricia :)

Shelly - My glamorous holiday consists of sparkly eye shadow (think white/sparkly snow) and a nice dark lip and the occasional sparkly hair clip.
I’m not one to wear sparkly clothes but do love the sparkle on the Christmas tree. :)

Katie - I’m making the holiday season glamorous by buying a new dress to well just for the holidays (something I never do) – definitely will be glam!

michelle - love those colors!
I am serving Christmas dessert in Martini glasses.

chell - I have finally lost the last 10 lbs I wanted to lose (after losing 80!) and have taken some of your recommendations and am going to look glamorous and feel good and confident at my husband’s Christmas party. (And this is a big deal – he owns the company!)

Laura - Ooh those are pretty colours!
This year I am able to fit into my pre-children fancy clothes. So I’m adding some new jewellry pieces to feel fresh.
Thanks for the giveaway & hope your Christmas is magical.

Kelly Jo - I am decorating my table in whites and silvers with sparkles and candles for our Christmas dinner. I have never decorated my table in such a manner and I think it is going to be very glam!!

Maryn - I made the holiday season a little more glamorous by stopping purchasing my first piece of Tiffany from the Madison Ave. store on my very first trip to NY two weeks ago. That gorgeous bauble sparkles and shines as much as the beautiful holiday decorations and every day I wear it, I feel totally fabulous.

Jennifer - I bought the cutest sexiest little black dress for Christmas. I had it hemmed and the straps adjusted so it fit better. It’s so cute. I’ve never bought a little black dress before because I never liked anything so it’s exciting.
I also bought a pair of black patent leather 4″ heels (they look like a Marilyn Monroe shoe, at least in my opinion). I plan on finding some beautiful jewelry to go with it but haven’t found anything to my liking yet.

Here is a link to a picture of my dress.

Stephanie M. - Trying out a new hair cut in 2 days. I hope it goes well. I havent changed my hair style in YEARS.
Enjoy your holidays.
Stephanie

Nina - Looking at magazines for inspiration and trying to leave the house with the best possible accessory: a good attitude.

Kathleen Bing - I guess you could call my New Years Day plans “glamourous”….I’ll be in Boston with my cousin and we’re going to see an evening showing of Benjamin Button in 20′s styles dresses followed by drinks and dancing at Daisy Buchanan’s. A F.Scott Fitzgerald themed night is always glamourous!

JennaM - A bottle of Dom for the mimosas on Christmas day, and red lipstick for the next two weeks.
Happy Holidays all!

Jenny - I decided to glam my tree this year. I went with a pink tree with pink, crystal and robin’s egg blue ornaments. I feel so happy and shiny every time I see it!

Amy - I’m going to make it glamorous by having more self-confidence and being happy with myself.

Tracy - I’m a new mom to a 4-month old little boy, so I feel like the least glamorous person right now. I did buy some great stiletto boots before the baby was born that I’m definitely wearing this holiday season!

Sara Cook - Those colors are gorgeous and you are truly glowing in your latest pictures!
I’m wearing something that sparkles to each holiday party, and I have my hair cut and colored in December so that I feel like I look my very best.
Thanks for the fun blog.

Maria - I’m making it glamorous by promising my husband NOT to wear just sweats and t-shirts for the holidays….since I am pregnant I feel like this is my staple outfit lately and can’t imagine that he enjoys seeing me in that everyday…lol!

Meg - I’m making the holiday season glamorous this year by visiting New York City and Boston to enjoy all of the holiday decorations and festivities. I love how these cities get so into the spirit of the holiday season!! :)

Sally - I’m making it glamorous enjoying the recent weight loss (all down to the flu!!) wearing my sparkly little grey dress to the christmas party!! OOh look at those colors. You look great Jessica, enjoy the holidays.

Kicks.

Can you envision the perfect outfit (for boy OR girl) to go with these great kicks?

lacy - Ok how cute for a boy or a girl! I have no concept of what size those shoes are but how cute would a black tulle skit be with a little bright colored tank and cardigan for a girl! So JCrew! Merry Christmas!

Anastasia - Cute shoes!
Jessica – Do you ever go back and see what you were wearing one year ago today? I always go look at old datebooks and see what I was doing 1 or 2 years ago. It’s always interesting.

Grateful.

I feel happy! The past few months of being pregnant have taught me a lot about life and about myself. The experience has been a positive one and I'm grateful to have the support of family and friends on the journey. I'm now 26 weeks along and I'm beginning to research options for au pairs…

liz - I love your smile Jessica – you are beautiful pregnant or otherwise. I am thinking of you daily – should call more, sorry ’bout that. Bless you and the babe and Jeffrey too. Love Lou

christina - Your such a pretty pregnant lady Jessica!

Heather V - So nice to see you smiling!! :)

Jessie - Love this picture of you. Miss you.

Daphne - James Perse tanks are so comfy! I love all the new colors that have come out in the last month.

Rachel - such an exciting time in your life! I hope the last few months of your pregnancy go smoothly.
We are going the au pair option too. She should be starting in January so I can start working again…it was definitely one of the best options for us, and my older kids are looking forward to learning some Spanish :)
