More on denim.

Wow! Reading everyone’s jeans dream is the perfect reason as to why there’s not JUST ONE jean that works for everyone, and every body. I could take this list as marketing research to a denim designer and buy a new pair of jeans for everyone who entered! I’m a firm believer that the higher end…

tammy t - Thank you for that link! Can’t wait to try all the recommendations…so nice to have a starting point.

Louisa - Thanks so much for the link! I have a terrible time finding jeans. How great to have an idea of where to look for jeans that are likely to fit!

sara b - Thank you SO much for this opportunity and the great advice. I know every woman struggles with this and it is such a treat :) You are the best!!

elise - WORD on the feeling good and looking good before you go in to the dressing room.
makes the biggest difference.

Jessica - Hi Lindsay,
Find a good tailor – and they can do anything for you. There was an amazing article in the most recent issue of Blueprint (which I heard it’s the last issue) about what a tailor can do to both current and old pieces. I’ll post some of the pictures from the article here soon.
Thanks for visiting!
Jessica

Lindsay - good advice! i think the only way to find jeans is to just try on a million pairs, which of course is tedious and can be a pain. the zafu suggestions should help people narrow it down a bit! do you have any advice to offer on getting things (jeans, blazers, dresses, anything!) altered/tailored? maybe an idea for a future post :)

Kath - What a great website! I can’t wait to try their recommendations!
Thanks, Jessica.
Kath

Sarah Nelson - I am eagerly awaiting the winners!!!!! Thank you for all the excellent jean tips, you are sure an expert:)

Fashion Giveaway.

Denim. Even the word itself is cool. I’ve been a designer denim fan for about 10 years. I’m a collector and a connoisseur, always searching for the most flattering pair. Today’s giveaway is for one lucky winner to personally consult with me so that together we can discover which jeans would be perfect and then…

Lindsay - Thank you very much for your articles! I always anticipate something new from you! If you had a journal, I would beñome your devoted reader! Many people today make use of http://www.pdfspirit.com/kalendarz-biodynamiczny periodical search engine and if you had a journal, you might increase the number of readers. Think it over! ;)

ilana engel - My favorite jeans are a pair of Joe’s Jeans. They are black, skinny and the perfect fit. I’m ridiculously picky about the jeans I wear. They have to be perfect!!! I live in NYC but also am in Florida alot. I think they are perfect for both hot and cold weather. They keep me warm in the winter and work perfectly to let my legs breath during the winter. ahhhh…perfect!

Gen - I don’t own a lot of jeans. I can never find a pair with the right dimensions. Usually if you want the perfect fit you have to shell out more money, which I don’t have! It takes me hours to shop for pants that fit well or comes close to fitting well. Anyway, I do have one pair that I love and they are from Mossimo Supply Co. They are not too long and fits my waist just right! Yay! They are the kind that flare a little on the bottom and they are not stretch, I do not like stretch, and they are not a thick heavy jean. they are lightweight. Most importantly, COMFORTABLE!

Steve D - I always have trouble finding ones that stay up and fit well so my wife suggested women’s.
I got some “Right Fit” at Catherine’s.
http://catherines.charmingshoppes.com/pagebuilder/right_fit_landing_page
Plus some “Secret Slimmer” Jeans.
Both of those are Great Fitting. 5 Yellow if you’re curious
Steve

Lana Gilles - My favorite jean pair is by Tahari. They sit so well and look fab!

sunchicka - My fav jeans are Brand Slim Straight Leg Jeans they are perfect for a petite gal like me. Plus for a shortie the fit is great and they make your legs look slimmer and longer what a bonus!

Naomi - My favorite pair of jeans is J Brand
Slim Straight Leg Jeans. They are just right for a petite gal and the best part is they make my legs look longer and slimmer. Trying to find the perfect pair of jeans for a shortie like me is quite the challenge!

Michelle Jacquemet - I’m in desperate need of getting pants that fit me right. I have to try on an average of 30 pairs to find one that fits me semi decent. I find that most the time denim jeans fit my bottom but aren’t tight enough on my legs. They just hang there. Thanks for offering up this great prize!

Sue Neal - If you can help me find jeans that look good, then you really are a MIRACLE worker! I know how I would like to look in jeans, but can’t find the ones to do it. Frankly, I just get overwhelmed with how many different kind of jeans there are, different shapes, styles, colors etc… I usually get so frustrated shopping, that I end up ‘settling’. I’ve done that all my life. If you truly want a challenge, then pick ME! Thanks, Sue Neal (EyeQDesign@mindspring.com)

Karin G - Finding the perfect pair of jeans is as difficult as shopping for a bathing suit but so worth it! I have a small waist and bigger behind, which adds to the challenge. I have found a couple of Buffalo brand styles that fit well and do not gape at the waist, including a lighter weight denim that was perfect for the summer. However, now that I’ve put on some weight, I actually do not have any jeans to wear! My secret wish is to have a fabulous pair in a high end brand.

Lisa G - Unfortunately I don’t have as many jeans as I should because I cleared out my jeans closet a few years ago and vowed to change my style to never include denim again.
Now I am trying to get back to the comfort of denim but am stuck with the only pair that I love and kept, which are my CK flares. How pathetic is that, LOL!

April - Sitting on the floor of my bedroom last night folding laundry I realized I DON’T have a favorite pair of jeans anymore. It used to be Gap Long and Lean, but lately they just haven’t been fitting as well. The three little boys that I chase around daily have a lot to do with that, but also, I just think I need something that works better for my small waist and not-so-small derrière…. :)
WHAT IS THE BRAND that will fit that bill?

Amy - Sent this way via Ali’s blog. LOVE your idea of a personal consultation on jeans! I practically live in jeans as I have a lil’ guy at home and we are always running to/from hospital and therapy appointments. (He has many medical/developmental challenges.) Would love to look good in a fun new pair! Right now I wear usually GAP or Ann Taylor.
Thanks!!!

Christy D. - I have a horrible time finding jeans! I am petite (only 5ft. 1) and I can never find jeans that fit in the waist and hips. Also most jeans are sooooo long by the time they are cut off, their shape is lost. I have a hard time finding petites that are trendy and fashionable and show the curves in all of the right places! HELP!

Deanna - My favorite jeans are my Levi 504 (slouch/flair). They have a low rise, with a slight flair and a nice worn look to them.
I love the back pockets the best (they make my bottom look better :) ) and they are the perfect length for me (I am 5’3″ and I have a hard time finding jeans that look ok on me)
Thanks for posting the question, I am enjoying reading other posts!

fiona - my favourite ones are the ones I just threw out as they were to baggy and had ripped cuffs and whole in the knee but they were just so comfortable.

Tiffany Sierens - Hi! I would love the chance at winning a perfect pair of jeans. I love to wear jeans but can never find any i feel comfortable or confident in. I am always worried about my butt hanging out or them clenching my knees or butt saggin. Thanks for the chance!

Wendy Myers - Oh I hope that I am not tooooo late.
This is such a problem for me. I am almost 5’9″ and i have the worst time finding pants that fit, let alone Jeans. I has recently aquired my second pair that actual fit. I have just in the last 2 years found out that NY & CO sells jean in tall. And I mean real tall not that lee brand tall. These jeans are so great, they come in low rise, med rise (my Fave) but most of all they come in tall I hae a 34″ inseam and ususally wear a size 4 or 6 depending on the rise.
Anyway It would make my New Year if I am not tooo late to enter this Give A Way.
A personal consult is what I have dreamed of forever.
Thanks

Amber - I don’t have a favorite pair because I can’t seem to find any that I like and look nice! I’m glad I have to dress up for work every day!!!

elizabeth - My current pair of favorite jeans are a pair of skinny David Kahn jeans. I have worked out HARD for the last year to finally get rid of the pregnancy weight…most of it anyway…and am wearing a pair I would have never put on before in my life. Here’s to trying new things!

Debbie - My favorite jeans (& I have 2 pair)are Lee Riders! They are wonderful!

Lisa Jamerson - I love boot cut jeans preferably from GAP, Old Navy, or American Eagle. I just wish they had a jean that was a good boot cut that wasn’t so low cut.

Jennifer - I don’t suppose you’d have suggestions for plus-sized jeans that don’t make you look like you’re walking the streets – or like you’re wearing a sack…

ML - I guess i am a little late but….don;t really have a favorite pair of jeans…nothing flattering and being 5’2″, everything seems too long. I refuse to get jeans hemmed to the right length.

Linda Thompson - My all-time favorite jeans are my DKNY jeans that I found at my favorite little thrift store last year. They were like brand new, but one of the belt loops needed to be stitched back on. No problem, I sew. So I got them for $2.00!!! YES< $2.00!!!
I would have never known how awesome these brand of jeans fit me head I not found them at my little thrift store.
I LOVE THEM SOOOO MUCH!!!!

raquita - mine were from SEven bu they are now frayed in the leg and I can’t wear them. It sucks

Anna Aspnes - my favorite jeans were purchased from GAP just 3 years after my son was born. I like them because they have a little stretch to them. I’ve worn them so much they are already hole-ridden. I’ll wear them til they completely die on me. I have a 34″ inch leg so length of jeans is always a problem for me.

Cheri - Can I please have a pair of jeans that doesn’t say “WIDE LOAD” on the butt? that would be a perfect pair!

Cheri - Can I please have a pair of jeans that doesn’t say “WIDE LOAD” on the butt? that would be a perfect pair!

Gloria - if you can fit my butt in a pair of jeans, you are a true miracle worker! So maybe I am streatching it a little bit, butt (no pun intended) it would be nice to own a “perfect” pair of jeans. Is there such a thing?
Gloria – Md.

Angelique - Hi! Finding the perfect jeans is getting global! Really cool, if you think about it. Jeans are a world wide phenomenon… I’m from The Netherlands and yep, I’m struggling with finding the perfect pair as well!

TracieVW - I’m a little late 2 after reading this on Ali’s blog. However, I can honestly say that I don’t own a pair of favorite jeans. I own jeans that are “just ok” or “they make do for Fridays at work” or running to the grocery store. Since I’m currently 8 months pregnant, that is my goal for the spring/early summer….TO FIND JEANS that I love!!!! I always hear friends and co-workers talk about Gap, Seven, Silver, or Express but it is so time consuming to haul 6-8 pair into the dressing room and work up a sweat to only get discouraged or just not 110% satisfied. My mom even suggested trying on Not My Daughter’s Jeans. I said, Mom…those are not for your daughter, hence the name. I was polite but don’t think I’m curvy as she is, unless of course my 2nd son molds me as an hour glass…….

maryjo materazo - i’m waaay late but i just saw this on ali’s blog so i’ll chime in. for true classic longevity i always love my levis. have worn them since i can remember. then there’s my david kahn “bling” jeans that always make me feel HOT! & then for kicking around any night of the week are my a.s. jeans. i got them in south america & they make me feel tall & thin. i’m 5’1″ so that’s a big accomplishment. i always get compliments on them & people ask where they can get them??? anyway, all of the above are low nothing high waisted EVER! this is fun. maryjo

michelle - I have a pair of Daisy jeans that I loved until I lost wieght and was constantly pulling them up. Generally I tend to go for lighter colored jeans. Just like them better. Thanks!

GlennaB - Favorite jeans, I guess I’d have to say low rise (but not too low) boot cut jeans, Gap or Old Navy. I have been on steroids for the last year (for an unknown crazy illness, lol) and gained a lot of weight so I am really struggling buying myself jeans, I feel so un-pretty in anything y’know?

christy - My favorite pair of jeans right now are the Long and Lean from Gap (dark in color) because I am tall and there are never any “high water” moments!

Laura - I love citizens and sevens. I love designer jeans as they look more flattering, IMO.
Laura

Karen K - Love my Ralph Lauren petite jean with boot cuts. Supposedly not flattering on us shorter girls, but I love them. Since I have a shorter torso, I love the ones that are lower cut because that where my waist is. Yep, I’m an odd duck. Would love me some blue satin, too!! Thanks!

Ros Oakes - I hope I make the deadline! No idea what the time is over there (I am in Australia.)
My fav. jeans would be ones that fit and are flattering. After having 4 kids in less than 4 years I haven’t had much chance to get back into jeans or wear them much. Certainly need something that works with the mummy shape.

Ros Oakes - Hope I make the deadline as I have no idea what time it is there currently (it is 2.49pm Tuesday here in Australia!)
My facvourite jeans would be ones that fit and suit me, after having 4 kids in less than 4 years I have not had much chance to really get jeans that are the right fit or wear them for too long!

Nancy L - My favourite pair were the ones I tried on that make you look 2 sizes smaller. I can’t remember the brand but I think Oprah mentionned them. A bit pricey for me but loved them. I just read A’s blog and so I guess I am too late for the entry but if you know which pair of jeans I am talking about, let me know. I’d like to get the name and look for them again.

Cindy - Hi! Currently my favorite pair is Apt 9. I just love them!!

sher - Damn! I’m late but I am going to comment anyway. I like my Ralph Lauren Saturday Jeans. They stopped making them. Grrrr! How could they!?! I liked being able to breeze in the store and grab a couple of pair of size fours and I was good to go. I haven’t found a good fitting pair of jeans since.
(Everything has the stretch in them. I don’t want stretch in my jeans.)

Julie - JEANS…Isn’t it hard to find the perfect pair. My current favorites are from CAbi…they are flattering and comfortable. They fit in all the right places and they can be dressy or casual. I NEVER pay big bucks for jeans, but these were worth it. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and in this case it is true.

Amy Tangerine - might be a little late, but my favorite jeans are Robin’s Jeans from the former designer of Hudson Jeans. His line rocks.

Amy - totally awesome giveaway — can’t wait to see the results of the custom fit!

Debbie Poe - I think i’m posting too late, but PLEASE help me!!!!!
too tight in the rear and too loose around the waist.
it’s soooooo hard to find a good fitting pair, let alone a pair that I love.
It is just no fun shopping for jeans, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Steph - Wow, this is awesome!
Right now my favorite jeans are Gap’s Long and Lean. I am not long OR lean, but I like how they fit anyway.

Heather - My fave jeans. To be honest, right now, nothing is fitting me because i’ve lost weight(YAY!)my faves are way to big for me and i’m waiting to buy a new pair until I get down another 5lbs. Then hopefully I find a NEW favorite pair!!!
I’d love to be considered!!!!

Miriam - Don’t really have a favorite pair of jeans all I know is that I need something that is flattering for my figure ;) lol

Beth - My favorite jeans are Levis because the back pockets are larger. For plus sized ladies, having a larger pocket gives the appearance of a smaller tush….well, sort of!!

Jewelz - My most fav jeans came from the local op shop :) No label and no way of telling what brand they are LOL. Being little, petite (ok ok SHORT :) HOWEVER I do make 5 feet……….. AND 1 inch) it has been really hard to walk into a shop and find that perfect fit pair of jeans.
Blessings

SandyB - wow…jeans that fit! That’s a concept! It’s too bad I never found any that do :-(

sophie - My favourite jeans is the one that I have worn since I was 16! That’s about 10 years ago…The comfort of a pair of pants that fits, that allows me to move as I like, that knows every common movement of my body. Sadly, I think my dear pair is about to be torn soon, as the sides fray with age….How about a new best friend soon?

Alicia Sharp - I love jeans! I never can find any to fit me right! This would be perfect!!
scrapper4faye@yahoo.com

Cate - Jeans are my favourite item of clothing! My favourites are American Eagle patch pocket jeans. Love them!

tara - hi jessica! i came over from ali’s blog too. (sorry it’s 7:03 -i’m late) i’m a size 2-4 and have never bought a designer pair of jeans, although i’d love to try a pair out one day. i’m kinda basic and stick with gap & old navy. just wanted to say hi and tell you that i love your blog!

Lisa - I wish I could find a pair that I could call “my favorite”. Nothing seems to fit just right. I guess I have a bit too much tummy and butt!! I do wish there were a pair that would control some of that!
Thank You.

Chrissy` - Ali sent me on over here through her site… Love her, so how can I NOT love you!! I know it is almost 7:00 – but… can’t win if you don’t try.
I love jeans that make my legs look long and lean. I have worn Gap/Talbots/Anything on sale… Nothing I am crazy over. But I would definitely love to see what you could come up with for a bigger girl (14) like me…

Sus - my jeans fit my curves and my dedication to them is best evidenced by the question my 7-year old asked me the other day: “mommy, why do you wear the same thing everyday?”
ltb 1948 little big.

tiff mass - never had a pair of designer jeans… would love to slip a pair on. Right now i am loving my Gap long and lean’s…
what a great give a way thanks!!
tmass

Lindsey Cord - i love my sevens and true religions!! i love designer jeans too!!!

Liz Ness - I used to love Halogens (Nordstroms carried them), but they rip so easily. So, I’m (sadly) wearing the same jeans as my hubby (because we wear the same size and they are more durable) — Levis 501s — 34/32.
Thanks for offering such a cool give away!

Erica O - My favorite jeans are some lucky jeans that I got from Costco. It seems like if I gain 10 lbs or lose a few pounds – they still fit pretty good. I love them! I love jeans in general. I have fluctuated so many sizes since having kids – I can’t wait to just stay in one size!!! Fun giveaway!!

Erica Oesterreich - My favorite jeans are some lucky jeans that I got from Costco. It seems like if I gain 10 lbs or lose a few pounds – they still fit pretty good. I love them! I love jeans in general. I have fluctuated so many sizes since having kids – I can’t wait to just stay in one size!!! Fun giveaway!!

Adelina - I love my Lucky jeans because I have very WIDE hips and a small waist. So they stretch and are extra comfy.

Sara B - My favorite pair of jeans would be my lucky’s. They fit me well and that is not an easy thing since I am so short!! I would love the opportunity to have someone “help” me out! Thanks for the chance :)

Doris - My favs are dark denims boot cut!
Thanks for the chance!

amy a. - Oooh, I hope I make the deadline.
My favorite jeans right now are from the thrift store with pockets that make my flat butt look like there is something there.
Still looking for the perfect ones!

Wendy - I’m still looking for the perfect pair. My favorites right now are Gap (long and lean/dark in color). Thanks for such a great giveaway! I enjoy your blog too!

Kim - I have never ever ever found a pair of jeans that look good on me. Ever. I do love wearing jeans so it’s not great to be uncomfortable all the time! I would love to find a perfect pair of jeans that look good and fit great:)

Serfics - ok…so the ONLY pair of jeans that I like are my 505 Levi’s!Very hard to find in my small town! Can only get them o-line :( SOOOOO comfy and NOT flare or bootcut!!!! Just a simple straight leg.
Have been looking for your blog for awhile…heard about it through a friend that found it from you sis…finally found it today through Ali’s blog…Have a BLESSED day!

Courtney - I love jeans. It is so hard to find good ones. I am still loooking for the one!
Courtney

Dawn - I just found a pair of Seven7 jeans on the sale rack at Marshalls for $14, and I swear they are the best fitting jeans ever. WHo knows where I can find them in real life though, so it was a one time find I am afraid.
Why do jeans all have to fit SO differently? Why can men just grab a pair and be good to go?
Dawn

gwen - Ugh! Jeans that fit? Wow!!! I struggle with shopping to begin with, but swimsuits and jeans are my 2 least favorite things to buy. I really have to physch myself up to even go. I have to wear short sleeves, shoes that slip on, the perfect underwear…and have a drink handy. I always end up sweating so much in my frustration of trying them on and get so worked up. It’s not a joyful thing for me. Even after I buy them, I tend to hate them in a month. I would LOVE help! Thanks for the chance to win. Hope is a good thing.
My favorite jeans this week are Luckys and my Ralph Laurens. Dark jeans.

krista follett - sweetheart jeans i got at old navy are my current favs! sad but true. i only bough them because my luggage was lost on my way home for christmas and i need a pair of cheapies to wear until the bags came! the jeans are great. perfect fit. perfect length. just great! but, one can never have too many pairs of jeans! :) !

kristi - I can’t tell you about my favorite jeans, because I don’t have any. :( I gained some weight since my August wedding (falling into the fat and happy trap!), so my biggest old pair doesn’t fit. Then, I bought a cheap pair to get me by ($17.99 at JC Penny) but I’ve since lost almost 10 lbs, so those are too big and look sloppy.
I need help! I am well proportioned curvy, with a nice hourglass figure that makes good jeans hard to find – if they fit my rear, the waist gaps, and if they would fit my waist they’re too tight on the bum. I hope I win, because I need the assistance!!

MizzBizzi - Oh, how I would love to have another Levi 505. I bought one years ago when I visited the USA. Worn it until it fell to pieces. The shops don’t sell them here. Maybe I should not be wearing them, because of the tight fitt. So I am all ears for suggestions.
Thanks for a cool giveaway!
Irene

Diana Dellos - so cool – I was referred here by your sister, Ali’s blog.
My favorite jeans are my Lucky “Carly” and BKE “Element” from The Buckle. I love them because I they fit my flat butt, don’t gap at the waist, and I can get a length in between average and tall.
I’d never spent that much $$$ on a pair of jeans before, but once I found this great fit for my body type, I’ve been sold – it’s well worth it!

Kathy (kathyb) - Wow !I live in my jeans as Mum to my 3 children. I love boot cut, but am desperate to try the new kick flare style that is hitting the UK just now. Jeans are just so practical and comfortable, dress them up or simply be casual. That is why I love them!

Ginny - This is a big issue for me!! I am short but have long legs. I love Jeans but seriously only own 3 pairs that I like. I switch them out often. I think my most favorite pair of Jeans are LUCKY brand. I just think that they fit really well and they have the cutest pockets of the inside. I also think that it is funny that on the inside of the zipper says your LUCKY on some of the pants. Too cute!!! Hope I get picked!!!!
I like your blog, found it through your sisters! You are a very pretty girl! and your sister is adorable!

lisamarie - My favorite pair of jeans….That is easy, seeing as how we as women shift in size daily and sometimes yearly, it is the pair that make me feel good. The ones that make me feel like no matter what I am beautiful. I can tackle any challenge and walk talk with CONFIDENCE. I love any jeans that fit me

candice Summers - My favorite jeans ever were Liz Claiborne petites because I’m just over 5 feet and never had a pair of jeans fit off the rack before. They were flare leg and really cute, NOT old lady jeans. :)

Krista - i am a jean addict. although i don’t have any that fit me currently…i had a baby 2 months ago. gap long and leans and old navy fit me the best before i got pregnant though. my legs are loong so it’s hard for me to find jeans that are long enough! thanks for the giveaway :)

lisa - Perfect jeans, what’s that? I’m another short waisted gal and I too have problems with the gap in back — small waist but wider hips. Wearing a belt causes the denim to bunch up and just looks dorky but what to do?
I did have a pair of Levi’s that I liked once — got them at a garage sale 30 years ago. They fell apart a loooong time ago. Don’t even know what kind they were. I’ve tried on Levi’s since but have given up — they are not the same. Sigh! Hope I win!

candice Summers - My favorite jeans were a pair of Liz Claiborne petites because I have never before owned a pair that I was able to wear off the rack and have them be the perfect length. Right now I am pregnant, but when I am finished with that I am going to really need some good transition jeans.

Lindsay - In the past 14 months or so I’ve lost 85 pounds, so I’ve had to really rethink and relearn how to dress myself! I am on a budget so I really have to shop around and find deals. I have a curvy muscular figure and a booty so I mostly have problems with jeans gapping in the back and sagging in the crotchal area. My favorite jeans are mid-rise (slightly below belly button), straight through hip, flared subtly at the bottom, definitely with about 1% stretch. I really only wear dark-wash jeans because they can be dressed up or down. I like to wear flats or small heels so they can’t be too long. I have some Lucky brand jeans I inherited from my sister and I love the way they fit but they are just a little too long. I’d also love to find a pair of trouser jeans but they always seem to have too low of a rise for me, the ones I’ve tried so far.

Mandyk - What a great giveaway. I love my Old Navy or Gap jeans so comfy with my t-shirt and hoodie.I am chubby so I go with comfy instead of stylin so I would love to win the giveaway and hear your recommendations.YOu always look gorgeous! Thanks Jessica!

Kristie - love jeans of all kinds. Mostly boot cut but like to buy from different companies to get the different pocket patterns…silly I know.
thanks for the fun chance to win!

leah eggers - sadly sadly, i do not have a favorite pair of jeans. i am a poor college student so i can’t afford designer denim. most of my jeans are from old navy or gap, and while i like them i do not love them. they just don’t fit exactly right – they’re either too long or too short or they gape at the back or they show off butt cleavage or a million other things. jeans shopping is so frustrating!

denali - Is there such a thing as designer jeans in plus sizes? Doubtful. But I’m all about blue nail polish! :D My favorite jeans are from Penney’s, of all places. They fit, so who am I to argue? :)

Jill - Hi Jessica – Wow – I have honestly never found a pair of jeans I love. How sad, I know. i would rather wear a dress or skirt and nylons, if you can imagine. I am 5’4 and have a very small waistline / distance between waist and bossom. I am typically a size 18, but on good days can wear a 16 and really bad days a 20. Of course, this also depends on the designer. I’ve been watching some fashion-y shows lately, and heard that if you are heavy, you should wear a boot cut jean – really ???? I thought this would make me look heavier, but they say with heels (which I love) it would actually make me look thinner. I can’t imagine. Anyway – thanks for this opportunity. I hope to meet you one of these days when you’re in Eugene visiting your sister – I can treat you both to lunch at Ruthies :)

Javacurls - Love, love, love jeans! My favorite ones are those denims that compliment my figure most which means making me look a bit taller and give me butt a lift just like a push up bra! lol!! These jeans usually happen to be boot cut with nice flap pockets in the back. Those flaps pockets to wonders for a slim girl like me.. 5’1″, 96 lbs.
Thanks for doing this fun give away! Good luck to everyone!

Brittani - i love love love your blog and ali’s too.
so jeans…how about i know most people who read this are going to want to vomit but..i am about 90lbs..and im 23. as a 23 yr old i dont want to shop in the childs section..no women want to wear square jeans we actually like to look like women with curves.however its not like i can find a 00 all the time. so..truthfully i dont own any designer jeans because finding ones that fit send me into a frenzy of..”dammit i hate being little” soo my favorite jeans..are jeans that FIT!
thanks for the fun giveaway..

Jessica J - I absolutely LOVE my Citizens for Humanity jeans. When I wear them with heels, I love the long line they make.

Kim - My favorite jeans are from J. Jill. I Like them because they’re not too low-waisted (like all the hip jeans these days seem to be)– they fall just below the waist, and they’ve got a little bit of stretchy-ness in them so they’re very comfortable.

Nicky Anderson - Have just finished losing 30 lbs, and 10 more to go – so having fun actually getting into a normal size of jeans (down to a 10) – so have been out of the loop for a bit.
So far boxing day bought a pair of Jessica Sport from Sears – seem to be a good fit.

Louisa - My favorite jeans are at least 30 years old. They were my mum’s when she was young. They have a neat basket weave pocket on the back. The legs have a slight flair and they are high enough waisted that I don’t need to worry about flashing my undies. Alas, as they are over 30 they are showing their age and I cannot wear them often.

Lisa E. - I am very short-waisted, so my favorite jeans are low-riders with flare legs. (because my waist is so short, they aren’t really as low as they’re supposed to be!!) I currently have a pair from the Gap, but they’re just not thrilling me. With 4 kids (2 are teenagers!) I just don’t have the time to try on 50 gazillion (I’m sure that’s a number) brands, styles, and types of jeans, so I would LOOOOOOOOOOOVE some help! Thanks for running the contest – it’s fun to read about everyone’s jean sagas. P.S. -your sister, Ali, rocks!! Love her blog.:)

Heather W. - Ha! I’m still looking for the perfect jeans. I’m petite, and finding jeans truly made for a petite frame is a challenge (especially if one is a bit “hippy”)! There are so many choices now in designer denim it makes my head spin, so sadly, I find myself chickening out, and heading to Old Navy. Help me!

Jamie Wolma - I typically only wear Lucky Brand Jeans… they are my favorites…. and the older & more worn… the better. They always fit so good~ even at the end of the day…. and even though the people at the store I go to to buy them are not very helpful when it comes to sizing- I still manage to spend enough time in there to get the pair that I think fits best.
It’s always pretty amazing when you find a cute pair of jeans that fit you as good at the end of the day as they did when you put them on.
I’m tall so finding a good pair of jeans has always been so frustrating. Since I’ve been buying Lucky Brand… I haven’t ventured out to buy anything else. I wish I could broaden my horizons but they’re my favorites!
Thanks for such a fun post! :)

yvonne b - I have not been able to find a pair of jeans that are compfy for many years. I love jeans, but am jsut struggling to find one that fits well. They are either to low or to high, so on and on.
thanks for the chance
yvonne

Stephanie - My favorite pair of jeans is currently a pair from American Eagle, after years of wearing cheaper jeans I was pleasently suprised to find that there are jeans out there that fit better than others and I went in the store and tried on several different pairs until I found the perfect fit, except for the legnth. I am kinda short but not short enough to be petite. So there is my delima I am 5’2” and a size 2 but the regular legnth is a littile too long and the petite is too short.

Pam - My favorite jeans would make me look good, feel great, and proud to wear them; and my teenage daughters would be happy with the look too. I don’t own a favorite anymore. I had a pair I loved and wore them to shreds. I have a coupla pairs I wear but wouldn’t miss them if they disappeared. Thanks for your site.

Nancy C - I love the pants from Anthropologie, but haven’t found a pair of jeans from there that are perfect for me yet! I did however find a pair a while back at Charlotte Rousse, of all places. I especially liked them because they were marked a size smaller than I usually am (great marketing tool) lol. I joking tell people that if I wore a size 8 I’d wear them inside out! Thanks! :) xo

Grace Palazzolo - Lucky fit great love bootleg not into these tight leg…I love True Religion they run a little more snugglier and also Abercombie makes great Jeans! Love them all and wow cool nail polish! LOVE Denim! Thanks Hugz Grace

Rebecca Swisher - O.K. seeing as how I’m now comment 1 Million…I better make it good. Without a doubt my favorite pair of jeans are my silver suki(style) jeans. They are absolutely the best. Always come out of the washer the same. Just enough stretch to cover my curves with ease… and they never fade. I really can’t live without them. I wear them when I go out for the night with a blazer or around the house with a t-shirt or sweater. Truly one of my “must haves.”

Amy P. - akk. I’ve grown out of all of my good/fav jeans. So I guess my favorite pair is the only pair that fits right now — a “short” (I love that they have short but not super short length) pair of Sweetheart jeans from Old navy. Great idea for a giveaway. I could totally use an upgrade!

lacy Wulff - Well, most of us have the bigger hip than waist problem, but nothing’s going to touch my behind besides Ralph Lauren jeans. THE BEST. That’s all there is to it.

Sheila - Hello Ali sent me…lol…I am not sure I have had a favorite pair of jeans for a while. I would have to say whatever fits at the moment is my favorite pair! If I had to pick one I would say my American eagle they are low rise and boot cut and with my short legs and larger mid section I do not walk all over the hems. My body is definitely not made for jeans!! Thanks for the chance!!

Rachelle Sims-Keranen - My current faves are by Express. I love the color, the bootcut leg and the way they make me look like I have a rear (which I don’t! LOL)

oona - My “live-in” jeans are Mossimo from Target also. I actually got them at Buffalo Exchange so they were already broken in.
My problem is that jeans always drag long for me and my clogs get stuck in them and rip the cuffs. Plus, I have “ample” hips and curves so it’s next to impossible to find any jeans that fit in all the right areas.
Thanks from
Another lurker :)

Betsy - i still haven’t found the perfect pair of jeans. But right now i’m settling for a pair of bootleg cut Calvin Klein jeans. They quite comfortable and were the right price at the outlet store.

Kristen B. - Hi there! I’m such a fashion-don’t! I’ve bought jeans at kohl’s (ick) and walmart (double ick!) And then had the nerve to keep them (and wear them) for several years). Recently, I stumbled into a Gap, and was pleasantly surprised. I bought two pairs of their classic jeans and I have to say, I’m lovin this whole new concept of jeans that fit and feel good when I’m wearing them.

Sunny - What a great RAK! I would love for someone to help figure out a flattering pair of jeans! Thank you!

Lindsay - My fave jeans are from White House Black Market. I am petite, curvey, with a small waist and child bearing hips (but no child, just the hips)
I struggle finding jeans to really fit my body. When I find them I usually get a few in different washes. But it’s been forever since I’ve found any.
Hence, the eagerness in which I await the winner…
hope it’s me!

elizabeth - What a great giveaway! I actually have serious difficulty with jeans. I’m a size 14, so many designers are in denial about who’s buying their jeans. I would LOVE some help in this area :)

Sara - Coming to you from Ali and HAD to at least say hello and enter this COOL chance to win.
I struggle. I so want to spend LOTS of money on some cool jeans to perfectly fit my body but then it comes down to it and I cannot do it. I’ve yet to spend more than $90 on jeans and even that is hard for me! The want is there…but practicality always wins! I’d love a chance to splurge. I’m 4’11″ tall so finding anything that fits is hard! Everything is altered!
I’ve always had luck with simple Gap jeans. Have a great day and THANKS.
Sara

Bethany Engstrom - Cool!!! My very fave jeans are 7 for All Mankind…love em! All the styles I’ve tried so far have been so perfect. They’re so comfy and have a little stretch, which I love. Perfect for wearing around the house since I’m a SAHM! Thanks for the awesome giveway!!

Cathy - My favorites have to be a pair I found fairly recently – DKNY Ludlow… my problem has been finding them in long lengths… the regulars are just a teeny bit on the short side, which drives me CRAZY!
Fun giveaway!

Kimberly - Hey! Great Giveaway. My favorite pair of jeans are lucky brand. They really fit my body type well. I have bigger hips and butt and my waist is small so I have a hard time finding the perfect jean.

Alexandra L. - At 42, my battle with jeans continue. My “favorite” or is the “desperate” pair to put on these days is a $20 Joe Brand jean. Would love some help finding the best fit for my ever morphing body….

kellie - My favorite jeans are my lucky jeans and I’ve had them forever. They are starting to look really sad which makes me sad!

PAM - Hi,
I just recently had a change of heart about which were my favorite jeans. I’ve been a big fan of Levis for forever…they look and fit great and are simply a classic. But then I tried on Coldwater Creek jeans and now these are my favorites (although Levis are a close second!). Coldwater Creek jeans are stretchy and flattering but don’t stretch out and look too big halfway through the day. I love them!
Thanks,
PAM K

Krista - like most tall women, i have a dreadful time finding jeans that fit! this would be such a fabulous contest to win!

Amy Zarrella - I don’t have a favorite pair of jeans because I have just had my 2nd baby, lost some weight and am in between sizes. My favorites of all time were a pair from the GAP that I wore about 15 years ago (and 15 sizes! LOL) I have NO IDEA how to shop for jeans, what looks good and how they should look. I would benefit greatly from your wisdom. :)

jennifer - How cool are you?! I love the entire idea of this giveaway. Especially since I don’t have a favorite pair of jeans…because shopping for jeans is my LEAST favorite thing to do. It ranks right up there with swim suits. I just never find any that fit PERFECTLY! And after I try and try again…I settle and give up! Please HELP! :o )
Smiles,
Jennifer

Kimberly - Hi,
Love jeans and what a great contest. Ok, I have a pair of gap jeans that fit ow so well, but since my last son was born, not fitting so great, actually not at all, but I’m still holding onto them and hoping with all hope that one day they will see the rays of sun. So, I do have another pair Liz Clairbone that fit ok, so sad only two pairs for me.
I could so use help in finding the right pair…pick me…pick me.
Kimberly

Karlynn - Hi!! Great blog…My favorite jeans right now are YMI…love the style and the light blue color..Awesome..

christen - my favorites are polo ralph lauren saturday jeans…really comfy and slightly worn. unfortunately they are a little big in the waist so i always have to wear a belt! i’d love to find a pair that REALLY fit. what a great idea.

Vicki A - Oh, I so need help in this area. I love to wear jeans, but I can’t say that I have a favorite pair, because I don’t own a pair that fit “just right”, they are all “just ok”.

tracy - My favorite jeans are from J.Jill. I think they are called authentic. I love them because they fit my waist and hips, a lot of jeans gap in the back of the waistband. I also love that they are long and wide-legged. I wear them until they are worn out. I love jeans, I wear them every day that I can get away with it.
thanks for the chance!

Lezlie - Right now, I’m sporting a pair of Lucky’s that I like because they “fit” but I don’t know that they “fit” me necessarily well, if that makes any sense. I like dark denim with a little bit of flare…a pair of jeans that hugs me in all the right places. It’s hard for me to find the right pair b/c I’m short (5 ft). My pair of jeans must pass the “plumber butt test” where I squat to see if the jeans are falling off. If there is no crack, that’s a good sign. :)

KrisA - What a fun giveaway! All I can say is that I SO need your help!! I am sad to say I have not even come close to finding an adequate, much less, the perfect pair of jeans for my body. Keeping my fingers crossed you can help… Have a great day!

lynn.reaney - I pretty much only wear jeans as a stay-at-home-mom but that doesn’t mean I don’t want them to look good! =) I have recently discovered The Limited Sexy Cassidy jeans and love how they fit…I actually feel kind of skinny in them! My biggest problem with jeans is always the length…I am not what you would call vertically gifted! Only 5’2″…the ankle/short length are always too short on me and the regular length just a bit too long!

Amy - I love express jeans…they fit nice around the waist, which is usually a problem and even their short jeans are not too long!

Holly - my fav pair of jeans are from value village (i’m poor and cheap – bad combo!) and are old navy’s i think. they have a little bit of a flair at the bottom and are tighter around the bum, which is how i like them. unfortunately, a bit to long, but the roll up is a good look for me too. :)

lexi - my fav. jeans right now? Elastic waist baby!! -I am 8 months pregnant :) I have no idea what I will fit into when this sweet boy arrives. Finding a pair that fits is always interesting for anyone…hmm..we shall see…

Tracie Behan - I use to love long and lean jeans by gap..I am 6ft tall and can never find anything and after having a baby. I think I need some new jeans. So I would love the consult!!! Polish is cute too.

Monica - I have a pair of paperdenim&cloth jaynes that I absolutely love. But they are the only jeans I have ever owned that I actually like. I have a smaller waist size than butt size, so most jeans have what I call a butt gap issue.

Rena - My favorite pair are from Abercrombie and Fitch. I have had them for about 4 years and tore one of the knees. Didnt look so hot so I cut them into shorts. They are so worn and I have lost a lot of weight so they are so baggy. I STILL wear them to clean in and hang around the house….(okay I still wear them to the store too,) but I am trying to change that by looking for the next pefect pair.!!

Jennifer Scott - Alright. Let me start off this answer by saying that I’m 26 years old and my favorite pair of jeans are a pair of “NOT YOUR DAUGHTER’S JEANS” that my aunt made me try on. It’s pathetic and I can’t believe I own a pair of jeans with that name. I have a hard time matching long and slim legs with a little bit rounder of a waist. I can never find a pair of jeans to match the two. The NYD jeans are stretchy, however, I do long to find a pair of jeans to fit my body and make me feel confident. I’m about 2 seconds away from being on one of those shows on TLC where they put you in the room full of mirrors. Help a girl out!
-Jenn Scott :-)

humblepie - My fave jeans are still in my dreams. Literally, I’ve had dreams about jeans. One of the best dreams was about young Elvis in that old 501 commercial … if only I could look as good in my jeans as he did in his. My most recent nightmare was me stuck in Lee “Mom” jeans, like on SNL.
To me, it’s all about the pocket placement. I’ve drawn diagrams to my friends who don’t believe me. Too far apart and you’ve got an elephant rump. Too close together and you’ve got a dually truck butt. Pockets too big? An super-sized caboose. Too small and you might as well put zippers and denim bows at your ankles.
I’ve spent plenty of mornings standing on the leg-ends of my jeans and pulling them skyward to make them longer. I do the morning squat to stretch the seat, and then I grab a belt to cinch the gaping waist. I’ve been in dressing rooms with 32 pairs of jeans and left with nothing. Some designer style would be ab fab, but I’d settle for a fit that really fits right now.
Thanks, Jessica, and good luck to whoever wins! Hope we get to follow along—sounds like there are plenty of us that really need help!

Jackie Hughes - My favorite jeans are Tommy Hilfiger low-rise boot cut. The great thing is that even though they are “low-rise” the waist is not too low–sits at a good spot for me! I’ve had the same two pairs for about 2 years, so I could use some new jeans. It’s so hard to find jeans that fit well. Thanks~~Jackie

Cheryl Anderson - I found the perfect pair of jeans about four years ago. They actually fit and look got on me. Even though I have several pairs of jeans in my closet, I wear that perfect pair over and over.I got them from Banana Republic on clearance about four years ago. Unfortunetly they have been worn, washed and patched to the point that I must get new ones. Recently I tried on every pair of jeans that Banana Republic carries without success. I have tried various jeans from various stores without success. So I am again on the quest for the perfect pair of jeans.

Gillian - It’s horrible to admit, but my fave jeans our from Walmart! lol And I don’t even really like them that much. It is so hard to find good fitting jeans. I have large thighs… and it’s just tricky!!! Would love a new pair though :)

janinekaye - i have a few ok pairs of jeans..none that fit me just right!!! would love some though..LOL!! btw, that nailpolish colour looks gorgeous!

Karen Foster - My fav jeans are American Eagle Hipster but I am dying to try “HArmony” all the stars wear. I am WAY!!!! up North next 15 minutes from the Canadian border. We have not so great shopping. HELP!!!!!!! I need a fashion make over.

Kristie - Oh wow-a consultant for a pair of jeans
I look in the mirror and go-oh well-I guess these will work! I would love to have anothers opinion other than my sweet six year old who says yes mommy they look good-now lets go!

Sandi - I can’t stand jean shopping. It is so hard to find a good fit. I would love your input!! My favorite jeans are a dark wash, mid rise, boot cut. I am a stay at home mom who could use some help!!!

czarina - I love Gap’s long and lean jeans. They are slimming and gives an illusion of longer legs.
Thanks for a COOL giveaway and a delightful blog!

Angela - My favorite pair of jeans are from Delias. I have a hard time finding pants that fit me correctly because my legs are kind of on the short side but these fit amazingly. I’ve had them for four years. The bottoms are all ragged and the thighs are starting to wear out but I still love them : ]
Thanks for such an awesome give-away!

patti - good grief-if you can make a pair of jeans look good with my lil ole muffin top i would be forever in your debt!!! good luck me:)

Jennifer Alfonso - I love my old DKNY jeans becaues they are not too low cut but low enough. Would love to see what the perfect jean is for me!

Debbie - Do they make jeans that fit? I am short, two sizes smaller in the waist than the hips/thighs. Hmmm. Not easy to find a pair that fits. Actually, practically impossible. Thanks for the giveaway.

Jennifer Alfonso - I love my old DKNY jeans because the fit real nice. Would love to see what the perfect jean is for me!

Lorna - Haven’t found a perfect pair yet – need hip and thigh room, but do like Nine West – seems to do a good job of fitting better in the right places. Pick, Pick, Pick me – I am so in need of finding The Perfect Fit.

kristen w - my favorite pair right now…a dark wash, slight boot cut, low rise from…are you sitting down?…Target…gasp! I just lost 30 pounds and am on the way to 20 more so I didn’t want to spend a lot on jeans…but I LOVE good jeans and can’t wait to be at my goal so I can buy a pair that will stay in my closet longer than a few months!!

kel - i just had a baby girl 3 weeks ago and each day when standing in my closet, i try squeezing myself into a pair of jeans that fit(to no avail) Sadly, right now my favorite jeans are maternity ones iwth an elastic waistband at the top! LOL! as i live in a relatively small town on the east coast of canada, our options are limited to say the least. Old navy is the most exciting thing around.
now saying that, i would love to find a dark pair of jeans with a little strech in them, that i could pair with a sassy top when(gasp!) i get to go out with hubby for a date night. :)

Katee L. - My favorite pair of jeans is a pair of Levi’s that I’ve just been able to fit into after a few months. I’ve been gymming for 4 weeks now and have lost 15 pounds! My problem is that I have a bit of a tummy and have a hard time finding pants that fit “just right”. These Levi’s are my go to jeans…the pair that is perfect for going out or going to work. I’m sure you have a similar pair. Thanks for the chance in the giveaway!

Sara - This summer I bought the most expensive pair I’ve ever had – $70. It was totally worth it. Silver jeans, which fit so nicely. Just a little bit of elastic but not so much they shrink up to pieces. I wear them so much I could really use one other really good pair of jeans! ;)

Kirsten V. - I had a baby four months ago so my favorite jeans right now are basically all the ones I wore before I was pregnant because I can finally wear them! It’s exciting to finally seeing the last of the baby weight go..we are down to the last 5 pounds! So I guess my must-wear-all-the-time type of denim would be long and lean and make my little tush look a bit more there. A wide or bootcut leg is also very nice and a low rise (but not too low!) would elongate my short torso beautifully. In the past I’ve loved Gap and Calvin Klein.
Thank you for having such a fun blog and awesome giveaway!!

Marcie - I could SO use a new pair of jeans! I recently lost 15 lbs and just that small amount took me down 2 whole clothing sizes! I am so psyched, but can’t replace my whole wardrobe at once of course. Right now my favorite jeans are a pair of Calvin Kleins I bought at Costco of all places!

Emily B - I got some great Jag jeans at Nordstrom. They’re stretchy and comfy and super fabulous!
I’ve been *dying* for that polish too …
Thanks! em

Carole - I could live in jeans. I have such a hard time finding the perfect pair. My fave pair at the moment was purchased at Jacobs. Perfect lenght and fit around the hips (where I’m widest). I have a flat bum so finding a pair that looks good is not always easy.

Tana Pape - I love Levis 550 relaxed boot cut jeans. They are affordable, comfortable and long enough for me. I am tall and have HIPS so these work. I love jeans I can move around in but still look nice, KWIM? Great idea by the way.

Crissy - WooHoo! I love jeans! I’ve been eyeing some fancy designer ones lately (not that I don’t still love good ‘ole go to Old Navy’s).

margaret - Almost 14 months ago I had a beautiful baby boy (www.evolution-in-progress.blogspot.com). While I was pregnant with him I had bought myself two pairs of ultra low-rise Gap jeans in a size larger than I normally wore. I was ultra-confident that I’d be able to fit into them immediately after having the baby. But what I didn’t count on was the fact that I was going to gain such a ridiculous amount of weight while pregnant, and then even more while suffering from postpartum depression. I wear those jeans even though they really are too tight.
It’s been 14 months and I’m just now starting to really get my butt in gear to lose the baby weight. I only own two pairs of jeans, those two pairs that I bought while pregnant with my son. I can’t afford to buy any new ones, otherwise I wouldn’t look so much like a sausage all the time.
The perfect pair of jeans would be amazing.
(I guess that wasn’t really about my favorite pair of jeans and why I love them. Oh well, I’m sure you get the point.)
Much love.

carolyn - I have a hard time finding jeans that fit right, but my current “go-to” pair are Calvin Klein’s bootleg cut that I found at a resale shop…

susan lyons - I love jeans that are boot cut and long enough to cover my shoes. I love when they are worn in and comfy. Having good fitting jeans rocks!

Amy - I’m a rather large plus-size woman. On top of that I’m very short (5ft 3in)! So, finding jean that fit just right is a MAJOR battle! So far the ones I have found that fit the best are by Lane Bryant. They are petite, stretch, bootcut. I have them in both light & dark. The only problem I have with them is that the are still quite a bit too long for me even though they are petites. In addition to that the pockets show a bit. So, obviously, I could use your help.
LOVE that nail polish as well! GORGEOUS color!

Lisa - Totally love jeans, if I could wear them every day, I sure would. They can be worn super casual or dressed up for a night out on the town. I remember at time when I hated them, didn’t understand what the rave was, boy I don’t know what I was thinking. If I could find a pair that fit just right and made me feel great that would be heaven. Most of the jeans I wear now fit, but in some way just aren’t perfect, maybe they are too long, a little to loose in the hips or whatever it may be, nothing is perfect. I think I gave up on finding the perfect pair.

Jolynn - my favortie jeans are ones that sit just below the waist but don’t ride down when you sit. I love a little bit of stretch in them since my weight yo-yo’s a bit and my body shape has changed quite a bit since my first child (had my 3rd in May 2006). I like them a bit long but not too long and bootcut. So far, i haven’t found the perfect jean and unfortunately my income doesn’t allow for me to splurge on designer jeans so i usually buy whatever semi-fits and is affordable (usually in the $17-25 range)

susan - my favorite pair of jeans have to be an old pair of gap jeans. they stretch in the right places. lol
i also enjoy reading your blog. and, after reading your blog have purchased keihl’s lotion and the jergens tanning lotion ;) thanks!

Sandy - I need some new jeans. I am currently losing weight with the help of Weight Watchers and will need to buy some new jeans. I am open to any suggestions. Right now I am wearing a pair of Calvin Kleins that are pretty comfortable, but I don’t think they are really that stylish as they are pretty old. I need some new stylish, well-fitting, comfortable jeans. I’ve heard that Sevens fit well, but I’ve never tried them, and don’t even know where they sell them. Cool blog. :)

tracey Paulson - i have an extremely hard time with jeans – hence im stuck in the 80s, i still wear levis, low ride, broken in, any help is well received.
thanks, thanks, thanks.
tracey from michigan

Rachel - I was very excited to hear this was still going on. A friend of mine referred me to your fabulous blog a few months back and I have been following ever since. I love designer jeans however hate spending money on them. I normally can find nice ones at nordstroms rack for almost half price. Right now my favorite pair that I just splurged on are citizens. They are dark blue, with a slight stretch to them and fit me perfect. I have a bit of a booty so have problems finding jeans to fit both my waste as well as my rear end. I find the stretch work great. I also really love some of the Joe Jeans out there as well they make everyones rear look great.

Leslie - My favorite pair of jeans right now are the Levi’s 545. I’m in between sizes right now so while they fit the best of the 20 or so pairs of jeans I tried on recently, they still are a little big. (working on getting back in the smaller size.)
Would love some help finding another pair!
Leslie

Katie - OMGoodness! What a great opportunity! I have to say that I don’t really have a “fave” pair especially not any designer ones! I did by a pair of Silver jeans (pre-3rd baby) and loved those when I could fit into them. Right now, I am just squeezing into anything that fits. Would love some advice from the expert!! Pick me, pick me!!!!

Amberley - my favourite jeans have yet to be discovered… i looove jeans, but have a REALLY hard time finding ones that fit *perfectly*

Tracey Clouten - please helpI need favourite jeans@!!!!!

Ryan Elizabeth - My favorite jeans are Seven Jeans that have a slight amount of stretch to them, and are a medium-dark wash. I have a lean and slender build with legs that are muscular, the 7′s make my legs look awesome.

islandjen - My most fave pair of jeans are actually from American Eagle…they are the boyfriend style…they hang just low enough, but nothing crazy, and they are just soooo comfy!

nichole - I am a little shy to say my new favorite jeans are H&M… I have tried on TONS of skinny jeans and simple don’t have the body for them… I’ve got thighs! So I can always use help… oh and the but region is problem too. ok maybe a lot of help is needed.
first time I checked out your blog. LOVE IT!
n

Eponin - My favorite pair of jeans are the re-issued Levi’s 515s. They come in length short (I’m too tall for petite and too short for average lengths) and for a change they’re wide enough to fit around my hips comfortably, and they don’t gape at the waist in the back.

Ginger - My favorite jeans would make me look thinner and would fit! I can never find a pair of jeans that works well for my body. I would love some advice!

Linda - I would love a pair of jeans to fit me just right. After 5 children, my body just isn’t what it used to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated! My favorite pair right now are “silvers” that my daughter bought and decided she didn’t like, so now I wear them. I’m probably too old for them, but they are really comfortable.
Thanks for the fun!

Michelle - My favourite jeans….they are perfect for me. The fit nicely through the hips, make my bum look just right and my belly flat (I’ve had twins so she isn’t so flat anymore). The are wide-legged and make me look a little taller than I truly am. Sadly, they have a big gigantic hole in the knee and are now only my house jeans…I only cry a little when I think about it. I tried to replace them with the same pair from the same manufacturer, but they don’t fit the same, sniff, sniff…I’ll get over it when I do find another perfect pair of jeans!! Have fun! Michelle

Bethan - My favourite jeans are a SUPER comfy pair of Pepe jeans. They are made of beautifully soft denim and are a perfect fit. They sit just on my hips and are quite baggy, yet still fitted in all the right places!. They are perfect for wearing everyday but can be dressed up too. They were definitely worth the money and you can so tell the difference in the quality of the denim…it’s definitely worth investing in a good pair of jeans!

Tara - Jeans… They are the hardest thing for my to buy! You wouldn’t think it would be too difficult since I’m not too tall or short, too fat or skinny, have 3 legs or no inseam!!
I would just love a pair of jeans that would fit me in all the right places… at the same time!
I’m 5’7″ and I’m of “average” weight. But for some reason, all of my jeans are either too tight ALL OVER or too big in the butt, crotch, hips, pocket area, thighs… I could go on!
It would be great to be able to talk to someone about exactly what jeans fit me right!
Right now, my ONLY pair of jeans are a pair from Old Navy that don’t fit me well… But they do their job!!
Thanks for the opportunity!!

ChrissyP - I LOVE a good fitting pair of jeans, except they are so few and far between for me. I prefer something slim in the thighs and the a big flare in the ankles. Now the question of making me look good? I have no idea. And the stretch denim in a must. So comfy. Softer, too! But I guess that’s how it works for this ignorant NON-fashonista!

Lindsey - My favorite jeans are the only designer pair I every bought – my rock n rebulic jeans, and you can easily tell they are my favorite since I wear them 4 days a week. When jeans are a staple, every girl need more than 1 pair of favorite jeans.

Brenda - Thanks for the contest. My favorite pair of jeans started out being my husbands. They are about 10 years old. They have been patched and patched to no end. They are so soft and flexible. They fit, but I have to wear a belt, which is also his. I love them. I think they are levis. I wear them every Saturday. I need to find another favorite pair. That fit how I feel.

andi kingsland - levis and FaT fACE (UK)
aND i LOVE MY jEANS i LIVE IN THEM, SO SPILL the beans, which jeans do you sudgest?
Andi

Jamie - I think all of my jeans were bought in the teen section of Macy’s–a rather sad fact as I’m rapidly approaching 30. I’m a curvy 5’3″ looking for a good fit. I don’t need any big designer names, as long as they look good.

rachel tanner - Hi cool question!
definatly Zara jeans.
And My Boyfriend looks hot in his Bootcut hipster Zara jeans.
But would love to have a designers opinion on what would suit my figure.
THanks Rachelx

Sherri - I don’t have a favorite “brand”, but they have to be stretchy, and not too high (or too low) at the waist!!!
Sherri

JoAnn - my faves are stretchy, wide legged and mid rise (not too high, not too low) they are a darker denim, which I like. They were only $54.00! I can’t remember the maker off the top of my head, but I haven’t ever found another pair quite so nice.

Alicia - Well, I dont have a favorite pair of jeans, that’s why I need your help ;)
I need a pair that will instantly slim me, especially in the hips, and lower tummy- my husband would say I need a pair that would round my behinder out :) but that’s not on the top of my list.

Danelle - Hello!! Well… I would love to find a pair of jeans that fit. My waist is smaller than my hips, and I do not have the “skinny” legs due to weight lifting. I went shopping last week with my 5 friends all looking for the perfect pair. We hit every high-end store with no luck for me :-( . All were too tight in the legs, way to low where I could not sit down without someone seeing too much of me. I am still on a mission to find the perfect pair of pants.

Nina - Thanks for the contest opportunity, Jessica. My favorite pair would have to be from Jcrew. It had just enough of a wide leg without it being obnoxious. Also, the weight of the jean was perfect because I could wear it from spring through early autumn.

vicki dalton - My favorite jeans are Levi’s–I like the 512s (slim fit) in all cotton–which I can’t find any more. Now jeans all have strech and I know most people like that but I HATE IT!!!! Do you know of any jeans still made with 100% cotton? I would love to try them.
{vicki}

bridget Corbin - I LOVE Seven’s “A pocket” jeans (aka my Pleasure Pants) And there is so much to love about them; they are just the right length for my 5’7 body, they have the right amount of stretch and flair for my boots! They have always been a satisfying purchase and my husband’s favorite jeans as well.
I love your blog (and your hair)! My husband just received Jeffrey Gitomer’s book in the mail the other day, Little Red Book of Sales Answers. He loves it. Cheers

kc - holy crap do i need advice…i always go for coh, sevens or diesels b/c they are easily accessible and have great washes and cuts…but i need something NEW. i am so over my muffin top.

Emily - The best jeans I’ve found for myself so far are Gap’s Long and Lean fit. My sister and I joke about how much we like the fit because we are both neither Long nor Lean. But when we tried on the Curvy fit (which I am) they were too high-waisted and looked a bit like Wranglers. So, our theory is that they name the fit after what the person would like to look like IN them. I would love to look longer and leaner, and whoever looks good in the Curvy fit probably is long and lean and would like to look curvier. I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of dark trouser-ish jeans. I am short (5’4″) and have short legs and a long torso, so I love a wide leg to lengthen me out. I would love to find a trouser jean with a cuff on the bottom, crease down the leg, and a nice flat front. I imagine it with a cute top with a belt over it and heels with a chunkier heel. Or wedges! I love wedges! This is getting long. Okay, to sum up: Love your blog, I think you’re crazy nice to do this, it’s fun talking about jeans, I love a forum of people who love fashion but not in a “what’s [insert some celebrity name here] wearing lately, I want to look like her” way but in a “I like how I look and let’s see if with a little effort I can’t look better” kind of a way. I’ve been totally inspired by your blog in that way. I’m eating healthier (the goal is 6 servings of fruit/vegetables a day), no sugar for all of Jan and Feb as a way to kick my sweet tooth cravings, and I’m training for a half-marathon. Have fun reading everyone’s posts, this is fun!

Eileen - My favorite jeans are Seven dojos. I love the slightly wider leg and they are the only jeans I have found that I truly truly love!

angie k - I have two pairs of Diesel jeans that are about two or more years old and I can’t bear to part with them. I too, have a hard time finding jeans that fit well. I am short, slender and petite with no butt! I usually try to buy jeans with lots of stitching or chunkier pockets on the rear to add some bulk. I also have one pair of 7 jeans that fit for awhile, but have shrunk too much to squeeze into! Jeans advice would be swell!

Lindsey - I really like the Dojos, but I feel like I found those that work for me and now I am wanting a different brand, but I have no idea where to look or what will work. This is such a fun giveaway…I would love to be able to find a new jean that works for me! Thanks!

Greta Puckett - I’ve been meaning to ask you your opinion on extra long designer jeans. I am 6′ tall and have never found designer jeans that are long enough (need at least a 36″ inseam). My favorite pair of jeans are a dark tabbed waist trouser jean with a wide hem from the Gap. They look great dressed up for casual fridays at work (and occasionally snuck in on weekdays!)

noell - Hey, Jessica. I’ll admit that while I enjoy playing with clothes, I don’t spend any time learning about designers, labels, etc. I don’t shop a lot and I don’t spend a lot. So, with that in mind, realize I don’t have a clue about whether my favorite jeans would be at all recognizable!
I only have one pair of jeans that I like. Sad, huh? They are from Zana Di and I got them at Body Central. All the other jeans highlight how much bigger my butt and hips are compared to the rest of me!

karenconnollylarson - Jeans…I have a love/hate relationship with them! I love them because they are such a great fashion staple. I hate them because they never really fit me correctly! I am 5ft 8in with a rather straight shape and no bottom to speak of. My favorite jeans that I own are from Banana Republic and they are a flare leg with a flap pocket to give me a touch of a bootie look. I love them with my boots that take me to about 6ft tall.
I love your blog!!! Love the way you put items together and make them fresh and fun, more important I enjoy your confidence!!
A fan of your shared enjoyment of fashion!

Petra - I have one pair of jeans, they are Ralph Lauren, wide leg, had of course shorten them, I am 5’4″. I am on THE search of a new pair of jeans, I like it when they cover my belly, since I’ve had 2 children things just aren’t the same. I was thinking about the Lucky brand, hope you can help!!!!

Amanda Wetekamp - Ode to My Favorite Jeans
You are dark and crisp
a long line with slight flare
wide waistbanded; slash pockets
perfect with a pointy boot

Daniela - Hi Jessica.
I am usually a lurker, but I decided I would come out of hiding and post about my all time favorite jeans.
I got these jeans right when I got out from HIgh School. They were wide bell bottoms. The denim was light colored and where the leg started opening to become a bell bottom, they had patterned fabric applications. They were low rise and I used to wear them every time I went dancing (which at that age was pretty much every weekend) :) They were my skinny jeans, they were the jeans that brought me quite a bit of self esteem. I looked GOOD in them. When I got married and became a mom my style changed drastically. My style grew up with me… I decided it was time to let go of my jeans. I used to babysit for a couple of girls and when I quit that job I gave my favorite jeans to one of the girls I took care of. They helped me grew confident on my teenage to womanhood years, so I thought I’d pass it forward to another young girl with the hopes that they would help her too.
I have yet to find a pair of jeans that make feel as good as those did.
Thanks for the style inspiration on your blog.
D.

Stephanie - Unfortunately, I have yet to find the perfect jeans. I’m 5′ 11” so it’s always a challenge to find some that are long enough. I would love to someday find the perfect pair that fit me just right.

Angie - Citizens are my fave jeans…I just had my first baby 5 weeks ago and after months of wearing maternity jeans, I’m so excited to finally wear and buy normal clothes again! This new mom really needs a new pair of jeans to make her feel good!! Thanks for the fun!!

Joelle - I have just recently purchased Lucky brand jeans and I love them. I hate jean shopping because I can’t ever find a pair that fits perfectly. I always buy them with something not quite right. I am 5’4″ with some muscular curvey thighs and some junk in the trunk. A combo that is hard to fit! I had a great pair from J. Crew but having two babies in the past 4 years has changed my body and those are no longer fitting. I love a pair of Banana Republic ones but again they are too long. I’d love to hear your advice on how to shop for jeans and enjoy reading your blogg. Thanks for offering the help!

Kels - My all time favorite jeans are a dark wash, Long and Lean pair from the GAP from about 4 years ago before they changed the fit of their Long and Leans. Currently, I am 36 weeks pregnant so I am living in a pair of Motherhood Maternity jeans that I have absolutely fallen in love with (which is a surprise because usually I am not a fan of the Motherhood clothes…). I have been loving your blog- it’s a fun place to come and be “girlie” :) .

maureen - Hi Jessica,
My favorites are a pair of tag jeans I stole from my Mom! – they are the only pair I have ever fit in.
I really enjoy your blog.

Carrie C in az - How fun! I do have a weakness for designer denim. My favorites right now are my Paige Premiums in the Hollywood Hills fit…they make my booty look great!
ps – thanks for the hint on Ellen Tracy tights. I just got some of the pure opaques and they are PERFECT. They are super black and I love that.

betty - I am 31 and still searching for the perfect pair of jeans. I recently had my 3rd baby and am finally getting back in shape, running a half marathon in 3 weeks. I would love to find the perfect pair.
Have a good one.

Kimberly L.C. - I can’t find designer jeans to fit me it seems. My favorite pair are as close as I could get and they are a pair of Seven trouser jeans I bought from Lane Bryant. I also have tried the Long and Lean jeans from the Gap and I like those as well. I prefer something with a straight leg, a big set of pockets on the butt (to minimize the size of me booty) and a dark wash. I could use your help.

Karilyn - I am tall and have long legs so finding a pair that is just the right length is always tricky. Sevens seem to always fit just right with just the right length, I can’t wait to hear what your favs are!

Mary - Honestly, I don’t know a lot about designer denim and have never owned a pair of “real” designer jeans. But, I see the value in it as jeans are definitely a staple/basic in my wardrobe. My favorite pair of the moment is from Banana Republic’s premium denim line… they are more of a skinny cut (but not too skinny) with a dark wash. I always get complements when I wear them. They still aren’t quite the perfect pair though; I always make sure to have a shirt/top on that covers the waist over the jean. In other words, no tucking in. My waist is non-existent… no curves. I would love to find a pair of jeans that are as equally modern and flattering where I don’t feel as if I must hide my waist line.

Dawn Witt - I think jeans are a lot like men…. The good ones are always hard to find and sometimes just out of your reach…. And when you do find a good one,, after awhile,, well they just dont fit quite right anymore…..
To tell you the truth jeans are a hard one for me, I’m average weight, but a little tall and nothing seems to fit “just right” It’s not like I have a ton of “problem areas” a little muffin top I could live without …. but the PERFECT jean still eludes me. Sometimes after 25 or so pairs tried on at 25 or so stores I find myself just picking one to be done. So I could use all the help I can get Jessica, thanks for giving me a chance to win and not be the “before” shot on the makeover page anymore,,, then maybe I can stop worrying about Stacy and whats-his-face from “What not to Wear” jumping me on the street.
Thanks again for a great give-a-way chance and I love your blog!

abbie - I LOVE my banana republic jeans, BUT, they changed the style this year so now I”m on the hunt! Jeans are hard for me because I have the SHORTEST legs!

Wendy Kenney - Hi Jessica,
One of my favorite televisions shows right now is “How to Look Good Naked” http://www.mylifetime.com/on-tv/shows/how-look-good-naked . As a 41 year old business owner, wife, mom of three sons, step mom to two daughters, grandma to four adorable grandkids, I lead a very busy life. Due to some serious health issues, and medication, I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, going from a size 4 to a size 12 in just 4 years.
But in spite of that, I’ve learned to have grace with myself and love my body regardless of what size it is. I actually enjoy having curves! That’s why I love Carson’s show. Let’s love ourselves first women, it translates into everything we do. Plus life is so short.
My favorite jeans are anything with Spandex, dark wash, generous in the hips and thighs, but smaller in the waist. Current brand is Levis 515. I could sleep in these, they are so comfortable.
Jessica, thanks for all you do, you help to make the world a more beautiful place!
Wendy Kenney

Maryn - My favorite jeans are from Banana Republic -I bought two pairs of dark blue boot cut a few years ago and have been wearing the same two pairs ever since. I’m on the hunt for another pair that will give me the same good backside coverage (I do not like low rise at all!) and will be dark enough to look okay for work. Love your fashion choice of the day!

jen - Wow could I use your help (and new jeans!). My favorites are from the Buckle but I wear them so much they are getting worn out. Oh how I’d love some help! Thanks!

Danielle - My favorite jeans are my Lucky trouser cut jeans in a very dark, almost black, wash. These are my 1st designer jeans since my guess jeans in middle school- ha ha. I usually wear GAP low rise boot cut. My Lucky trouser cut jeans are fun because they work as jeans/grubby with a t shirt, or as a nice pair of pants to go out. They also make me look skinny, lol! The best part of all is that I got them for 50% off! I never know which jeans are best for me- I am very tall, 5’9, and built straight like a boy- no curves, no waist (I usually wear lower rise because of this). It would be awesome to have someones advice on what would look best! Thanks Jess!

Amanda - I honestly don’t have a favorite pair. American Eagle seem to fit ok right now, GAP are another one that can work. I have so many jeans because I wear a pair for a couple weeks and then hate them.

Jennifer Macker - Wow, I absolutley love, love, love jeans! I feel like I can never get enough! My favorite jeans are the Flare Jeans by good ol’ Calvin Klein. So comfortable and so stylish, yet classic. Great color and great fit! Thanks for always having such wonderful ideas and inspirational thoughts on today’s fashion. You’re so unique and I love reading your words…

julie - YAY! i love jeans! perfect for moms. my favorites right now are a pair of Paige Premium Denim, laurel canyon. i love the material and the worn in crease down the front, with just enough boot cut. i’ve also totally gotten into the skinny pencil style jeans to wear tucked into boots this year. YAY for free stuff! i love that color!!!

sara - You know what I love? Thin jeans…the kind that are light weight…kind of soft…plain front, maybe a creased leg…more dressy than your average pair of jeans. They are hard to find for me. I like a wide bottom, too…not a giant flare, but not tapered at all. The skinny jeans look great on very thin people…but not on me. I am 5’3 and currently weigh about 139. (Just had baby 7 weeks ago–and am hoping to get back to around 125…which is another area in which I could use your consulting!) Anyway, that is my favorite kind of jean…in a nutshell. I love your giveaways. You are very generous. I’m loving all these new fashion shoot pictures, too. What a fun experience that must have been.

Shawn - My favorite pair of jeans is my long and lean dark pair from Gap. I actually bought them yrs ago and now they have changed the style and they just aren’t quite the same. I have very long legs and a long torso so buying jeans isn’t something that is fun. When I find a pair that fits I tend to buy a few pairs! Sadly my fav pair of jeans has seen better days. :)

Maria - I LOVE my Lucky Brand Jeans!!!! They are so comfortable, it’s like wearing your favorite sweats but not having to look like you just rolled out of bed! And I like jeans that you can buy a specific length, since I’m 5’3 I have issues with EVERYTHING being too long.
Thanks for the chance to win!

Ksea Cantonwine - My sister and I have the same problem..
NO JUNK IN THE TRUNK
Seriously…. it’s an issue.
I have a pair of True Religions that I love to death. I also have coveted the William Rast Savoy jeans in Evening Wash–although the price is hard to swallow on those puppies. I was at a thrift store recently and tried on a pair of Rock and Republic jeans and also a pair of Joe’s Jeans in a bermuda style-short.
I also have been looking at Hudson jeans as well.

Amy - Cool!!! My favs have been Levi’s bootcuts lately but it seems like I’m continually on the hunt for the perfect pair. I have some “figure flaws” (LOL) since I’m only 5’3″ and tend to be more “generous” in the hip and booty area. My biggest issue, though, is length. I realize they can be tailored, I’m just always afraid the feel of the jean will be compromised when they’re altered. Thanks for the chance…you are such a fashion inspiration!!!

valerie - i know it may sound weird, but i totally love Mossimo jeans @ Target. plus sizes are hard to come by that are in a leg length long enough for me (i’m too short for tall jeans, too tall for average!). not to mention they’re comfy, flair leg and dang cute!

Jennifer - I can’t say that I’ve ever bought designer jeans but the brand I keep coming back to our Gap. The long and lean style. I love the flair at the bottom, they don’t sit too low at my waist and they make my butt look good. My problems seem to revolve around having skinny long legs but I’m short (5’3″) and heavier…

Kelly Bryan - I am totally a Gap jeans girl looking to trade up. Honestly, I am totally overwhelmed. I’m also very petite (barely 5’2), so finding the appropriate length is ALWAYS a pain. I don’t even know where to begin and if I’m going to spend bigger bucks on my denim I want to be sure I choose the perfect pair. Jeans are my day-to-day life as a wokring from home Mama, so comfort is key, but a Mama needs to feel a little sexy in her jeans, too!

alexandra - I wish that I could say that I have super-cool jeans but right now I’m in a bit of a ‘denim drought’. Before Christmas, in desperation, I bought a pair of Tommy Hilfiger jeans and they are surpisingly nice – good pocket placement and detail and the waist hits right where I want it, nice dark colour and good leg-line. I did have a pair of Banana Republic jeans and they were fabulous but I wore them so much that they ripped and are now my ‘painting pants’ – sad but true.
Love the nail polish – fab colour!!

Danielle - I love seven jeans-they seem to fit well. And they are very popular. I’ve never really tried any other big brands though. I absolutely love that shade of polish..and your avatar pic :)

Hailey - What a fun giveaway! I LOVE denim as well! by far my favorite pair that I own are by Rock & Republic, I have LONG legs and these fit me perfectly! Long leg, perfect in the waist, and comfortable! I also really love Joe’s Jeans, so soft and comfy I wear mine almost every other day!

jenn - Honestly, don’t do many jeans. I’m short and on a weight loss journey. Never find ones that I’ve “love” lol I’ve lost some weight and its still on going, so its kinda like I’ll find something for awhile and then they’re too big. Which is good, but bad too, you know?

Nichole - I don’t believe I’ve bought a new pair of jeans in probably eight years. I’ve been wearing the same pair of guy/worn/low riding levis and am ready to start 2008 with a new beginning in the world of denim. I couldn’t even tell you what brand is my favorite, because denim shopping has not been in my repertoire for some time now.
I’d love your expertise on what will make my legs and bum look fab!!
Where do I start?

Rebekah - Over the holidays I discovered that Citizens is now making jeans for petites! YAHOO! I picked up two pairs! Joe’s Jeans, 7 For All Mankind and Paige Premium Denim have all followed suit. YAY! It’s about time, my tailor was getting a work out! Now, if only Habitual would do the same!

Sara - You know, I have jeans in so many brands and sizes, but I’ve recently been into Big Star jeans. Expensive in my world, but not expensive in the real world. I used to be able to wear almost anything (I’m 5’5″ and averaged around 120 lbs) but since having to go on steroids periodically my weight has fluctuated and I’m never sure what looks ok in my constantly changing body. I’ve found that Big Star’s, for whatever reason, help out in the butt area no matter what size I have to put on that day. I’m at my top weight now and just got off the steroids so am hoping to slim back down, but it’s nice to have a “go-to” brand when in doubt. I’m in pain all the time and haven’t been able to get out much lately, but even just hanging around the house I find that I need to still do my hair and make up and wear something cute, even if it’s the only thing I can get done… for me it’s not about dressing for other people anymore, it’s about doing the little things and making myself feel better even when I don’t feel good. Being happy is a choice and if it takes a good pair of butt jeans to help that along, so be it! :)

Jeannie - Friends rave about 7 jeans or citizens of humanity – and i had no idea why. So I tried them on, and being 5′short and petite, its amazing how good and forgiving they can look. Until you look at the price tag, and tell yourself, “well, 7 jeans and citizen of humanity jean really don’t look good after all, huh?” So I’m sure there are other brands that can make anyone look good right? Hopefully I’ll win some. =)

tammy t - Would love to hear your recommedations for petite women, that aren’t quite tiny enough to wear all the incredible denim that is out there, or we just don’t know which brands offer them in our size!
Currently my favorite pair of jeans are some simple Levi’s with a great wash and a bootcut. They actually make me look long and lean!
Love your new Profile pic, you look beautiful and happy!
And it’s so fun that you do these giveaways!
Cheers!
Tammy

Jen Ulrick - Jeans…its such a love/hate relationship. A good pair is like a good friend; dependable, complemetary, comfortable, and very difficult to replace! I have had such trouble finding the *perfect* pair lately. Brands that have worked well in the past are Banana Republic, Gap, and good ol’ Calvin Klein. I have never had the nerve to even try on a pair over $100 for fear that I will love them and HAVE to buy them, and never settle for the less expensive brands again. But After having 2 kids in the last 3 years, I am just happy to fit back into non-maternity, non-elastic backed jeans ;) Thanks again for a fashion inspiring blog!

Meg - The shade of that nail polish is fantastic! Jeans are probably the most difficult thing for me to find. I’m just under 5’2″ with more of an athletic build. It’s hard for me to find jeans that aren’t too long or that don’t cling to my legs in an awkward way because of the stretchy denim so many jeans are made from. I actually only own 1 pair of jeans right now because I have such difficulty finding ones that fit me well, and they are Express brand jeans. But, of all the jeans I’ve ever had my favorites have been the ones that wear and break in really well and are just plain comfortable..the type of jean that you never want to throw away no matter how many rips or holes appear over the years. I’ve never had designer jeans and have always wondered if they are really made better than other jeans. Thanks for being so generous to your readers Jessica! :)

Karena Farmer - Okay…in a nutshell, I would love for Earl, Joe, Seven, etc. to work for me, they never have. I have quite the “athletic” build with curves…I finally found jeans that work! JAG Jeans & Tribal, good price with stretch, and they don’t lose their shape!!! My husband and girlfriends have even complimented my derier… :)
SEXY!!!

elise - love my 1969 gap jeans.
also love my seven a pockets…
both because they flatter.
happy 08!

tami - how about if i say i have no idea what is good and what is bad. jeans are so expensive these days, i have turned to thrift stores for my jean buying lately. .25 can’t be bet. and these days i am fitting into a thrifted size 10 vs. a new pair at size 12…not that size really matters right!

Suzette Mahoney - My AG jeans are my faves….I have been dying to try Habitual jeans because I heard they go up a bit higher in the back and “crack is whack” at age 41….probably @ any age. Would love to win! I read your blog for fun shopping/dining tips for Charlotte because I recently moved here. Thanks for the fun contest!

RachelG - I would have to say Seven jeans are my favorite. I remember trying on that first pair and loving how well they fit.
I did come across a really cute pair of Frankie B’s while shopping for my daughter over the holidays. I just couldn’t justify spending that kind of money on myself while shopping for others, and now I can’t find them anywhere!
Can’t wait to see more pictures from your recent shoot.

Emily - you are so sweet and generous!
I, too, have been a designer denim fan for a while. I turned my nose up at Earl Jeans — I always felt like a stuffed sausage in them. But when I bought my first pair of Sevens in 2001, I knew I was in heaven.
Maybe I’m just nostalgic, but my fave jeans remain Seven NY Darks. I haven’t had the budget recently to try some of the newer faves — like JBrand.

Candice - I look forward to “today’s fashion choice” on your blog. Its so much fun to read. I just lost some weight and I’m looking for the “perfect” pair of jeans. Right now, I really like the Levi flap pocket jeans, but I haven’t found a pair that I really love. Its nice to read everyone’s comments, especially about jeans I’ve never even heard about that I have to look up on the internet.
Thanks for the chance.
Candice

Ali - And I think your new bio photo is perfect.

Ali - Oh good one Jess – I think Chris could use your guidance (LOL remember Vegas). Can I enter him? My personal favorites right now are Citizen for Humanity (not sure which style they are but they are a bit heavier weight for the winter + have a great nice wide leg). I think Chris’ favorites come from Costco.

Jenny - I have no idea what sort of brand I like…I just know what I like when I like it! The perfect pair of jeans don’t stretch out, fit nicely across the rump, aren’t tight around the thighs, and are long enough for both sandals and a low heel.
What a generous contest. Thanks!

Karen - Hi Jess! First off, I have to say that I love your blog. It is very motivating and intriguing and I love your poise and confidence!!
It is funny that you pose this question as I was just thinking about jeans the other day. I have tried Lucky, Big Star and Silver jeans among others. I have to say that my favorite pair of jeans right now is a pair of Big Star that I bought last year. They are the perfect blend of cotton & spandex so that by the end of the day, they are not baggie on the back side (if you know what I mean). They hold their shape and fit the same at the beginning and end of the day and they come in long lengths! I love jeans, they are like the “comfort food” of clothing!!
Have a great day!
Karen

VJ - youknow, i was never a jean person because i have hips but nothing else. LOL. so everything looks horendous on me. but lately I have been living in my Rock and Republic jeans I got for christmas and I absolutely LOVE them. they fit so nice. its such an amazing feeling wearing jeans that totally fit you.

Chellam - you are a gem!
i bought a pair of SEVEN jeans some time ago
and even though they are ripped and torn at the bottoms, I just LOVE how comfortable they are. I cant get myself to throw them out.
you are way too nice for doing this

kristina - this is totally fun!
my absolute favourite jeans are TRUE RELIGION
i am totally loving the chanel nail polish as well!
take care

Jeanette - I have yet to find the perfect pair of jeans. I’m petite and on a diet in order to get back into a pair of jeans. I’ve long admired seven jeans and may treat myself to a pair (along with a pair of sexy boots) when I reach my goal weight.

Mahfuza - This comes at the right time. I like my Banana Republic jeans and am ready to give another brand a try. I check your blog everyday – you always look so well put together.

Pink - I think my favorite pair of jeans are the new Seven jeans I just purchased. I have struggled to find a comfortable pair of jeans that look fabulous for years. Everyone said Seven’s were a dream, so I saved my money and finally was able to get a pair. WOW! I’m an addict now! I’m saving and soon enough, I hope to get more!!
Thanks for the great giveaway! Your blog is always so fun to read! :)

taylor - Hi Jessica,
Fun fun giveaway! I love reading your blog. My favorite jeans are William Rast. True Religion is a close second.

Catharine - First I have to tell you that I love your blog and check it almost everyday just to see what interesting thing you have to say regarding fashion or traveling.
My favorite pair of jeans are True Religion, Joey Super T Stretch Denim – Drifter Medium …they look amazing with the bonus of making your butt look really good.
Happy Friday!
Catharine.

Melanie - I have to agree that Seven jeans are my favorite. There is something about the fit that just works with my body. I bought my first pair about three years ago and I still wear them all the time. I’d say I got my money’s worth!
I love that Blue Satin polish too!! I just saw it in a magazine and was thinking… I want, I need!

Sarah - Hello,
I am a huge fan of yours; you are such a great fashionista!!!! I was recently introduced to your website, via one of my husband’s friend’s wife (I believe you went to high school together). Any way, this contest you are having sparked my interest, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE jeans, I can’t narrow down a favorite brand so I thought I would tell you about a few. If I am going to splurge I go with People’s Liberation, they fit really well and usually great pocket designs! A few styles I like for every day wear are Joe’s jeans and citizens are an all time favorite of mine. I just picked up a new pair of citizens from Nordstrom, they are the wide-leg style and I just love them. If I am looking to save money I have learned to really like the “It” jeans, they are super stylish and totally affordable. Any way, I cant wait to see who wins, I hope its me……I would love to consult with you, I think together we could pick out a great pair of jeans!
Sarah

Mary Jane - Finding a good pair of designer jeans has been on my clothing must have list for the last couple of months. I have looked around but nothing yet. Though, in the process of me looking, my husband found a pair of sevens that he loved and bought-now he wants another pair! (How funny!) Really, really wanted to get a nice dark denim jean for a more polished casual look. I am a stay at home mom (taught 1st grade for ten years prior to the adoption of our 2yr old) but I still want to look nice. I really haven’t even known where to start so I would LOVE the help!! My favorite pair of jeans that I have ever owned are GAP long and lean-not the new long and lean cut-but the old cut. They fit perfectly! Thanks so much for the opportunity-I love your blog!

Kath - So fun! My favorite jeans are my Lucky Sundowns. I often have the problem where the jeans fit at the hip but are big in the waist (so I need to wear a belt), but these fit great. The woman in the store was so helpful. I described what I was looking for…and she found them right away.
Thanks Jessica for another great giveaway!

Lauren - Hi, Jessica! I love Gap jeans—they are great for basics. I had a baby last year and have just gotten back to my “jeans bod,” so I’d love your help in finding something that is flattering and works with my body type. Thanks for giving us a shot at such a fantastic giveaway!

Stephanie Wheeler - My favorite pair of jeans at the moment are my dark denim trousers…I (unfortunately) have a large set of legs, so I need jeans that are cut larger. These jeans can be worn with a t-shirt or with a dressier top. I bought them on clearance, so even more reason to love them!

Jodi - I just got a pair of DKNY Soho jeans and I love the way they fit! I have a large rear and that usually means the waist gaps in the back but not with these. I’m considering buying another pair in a different wash!

Shelly D. - Oh this is so fun!! I have recently lost 100 pounds (still have about 50 to go). I don’t have a favorite pair of jeans yet. I’m just learning about “normal” sized stores instead of just plus size shops. I hope you share some of your recommendations with us!

kribss - love your new pic by the way!

kribss - silver- toni, drk blue- they look great with a basic tee or with a dressy blouse and heels!

Victoria - Dark Blue Classic Gap Jeans – Not too low, and they fit because I don’t have hips.

Erica Hettwer - My favorite jeans are a discontinued Nordstrom’s brand called Halogen. They actually made a size XXL (that’s extra, extra long) and they fit amazingly. I really want to buy a pair in my current size but I can’t. I do have a little stockpile of them that I’ll be able to fit back into once I lose my 15 pounds of baby weight, though. So, all is not lost! :D

Shasta Stairs - My best jeans are Citizens of Humanity – Ingrid Big Sur Wash. Why? Well quite frankly, because they make my buns look fantastic! So great in fact, that it could rival that of Jessica Biel. And isn’t that what jeans are all about?
PS: Nice distressed metallic Mary Jane’s (01/06/08 outfit choice) – they were my personal holiday fav’s!!

Carrie - You are too cool, Jessica! :) Sevens are still my favorite. Although I recently ordered a new pair of the Ginger cut that I am not sure I am crazy about… Love the cut, but I ended up getting a weird wash. I think it’s called indigo.
But you are right — designer jeans are great. You can totally tell the difference. I just bought Brad his first pair of sevens, and he was pretty amazed by how different they fell. LOL

Karen Peterson - My favorite jeans are a pair of levis that fit my bottom half and have pockets to make my behind a bit smaller ;) they have a bit of stretch in them which is nice for running around during the day. The only bad part is that the waist is a bit too big and I am by no means small waisted. I have trouble finding jeans that fit in the waist (maybe I am just not wearing them low enough!, could that be?)
Karen

Tina - My favorites are my wide leg trouser jeans from Ann Taylor Loft. They sit below the waist, have a cuff at the hem, and fit perfectly around my waist and hips. I love them with a cropped jacket, great belt and pointy toe boots.
Thanks for sharing your amazing life with all of us, you are such an inspiration to try to look your best- whatever that may be. It could be from The Gap,Macy’s, Nordstroms, Old Navy… anywhere, just making the effort to look your best every day is so important.
So, thank you.
Tina

michelle - My favorite jeans at the moment are dark denim trousers. I am petite and these jeans go all the way to the bottom of my boots at a slight angle making me appear a bit taller. The dark denim is also slimming. I would love to hear your recommendations. Thanks for such a cool giveaway and delightful blog!

Valerie - I love my Level 99 jeans from Anthropologie, mainly because they are fun and different from other jeans. They are wide-legged at the bottom, and I always get lots of compliments on them. I also love my ragged old Lucky Brand jeans from college (8 years ago, wow). They have a few small holes in them, so I mainly only wear them around the house, but they are comfortable. I also love Lucky because they seem to be made for women with curves. I am a small gal — 5’1″, 115 pounds, but my main problem is I have a tiny waist paired with normal hips, and jeans usually gape open at the waist at the back. It is an annoying problem.
Thanks for such a fun giveaway! I really enjoy your blog.

Jeanette - My best friend and I used to stay at the Waldorf during our annual shopping trip to NYC. Only because we were able to get a phenomenal rate at the time of year we visited. And I remember walking by the Sunday brunch as we were checking out and thinking we’d try it the next year. That was ~4 years ago and we’ve yet to try it. Next time, for sure!

Where do you stand?

I spend very little time following the politico campaigns. But I am interested in some of the issues. I received a link to this online quiz where you can see, based on your answers, whose views your opinion is in line with. Here were my results…             73% Barack Obama       …

Kimberly L.C. - I think everything we wear says something about what we believe, right?
I mean everything from how modest your clothes are (or aren’t), to the types of symbols displayed or not displayed in your jewelry (like a cross pendant or the cuff bracelet I have that says, “Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much), or that band t-shirt you just can’t bear to part with (shows you are a loyal fan of something and that memories mean something to you).
Perhaps this is too broad of a translation of your question, but I think everything we wear, say or do reflects something about our core. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

kim in Camas - ScrapToMyLu - great link! 93% for both Obama and Hillary…..whew!

Jeanette - Very intriguing question. I can’t say that I’ve used fashion to express my political beliefs but have done so with personality. I do like the link to the shirt on war & cupcakes. A sense of humor is good. :)

Jessica - Hi Noell,
Wow, what an interesting reflection on your part. It’s excellent that you felt freed in your choice.
Thanks for visiting!
Jessica

Jessica - Hi Tami,
Thanks for the link! What a cute shirt and a great message. Cupcakes are splendidly delightful!
Cheers,
Jessica

noell - How do I use fashion to express my beliefs? My first thought was that I don’t. I could easily tell you how I use it to express my personality…my need to be just a little different from mainstream, to express the artist within me, etc. But beliefs?
But then, thinking about it more and more, I guess there is a part of my clothing that reflects my beliefs. I spent thirty years of my life in a strict religion (that I once believed in) that required me to wear shirts with sleeves and a religious garment underneath. But after a long drawn out search, I eventually decided I no longer believed. Getting to remove that garment and wear sleeveless clothing in hot Arizona was one of the more freeing experiences of my life. I had had no idea how the religious garment had been restricting my physical movement. Now I wear tank tops all the time. And deep inside there’s a part of me that feels it is an outward sign of my rejection of what I believe to be superstition. It is a reflection of my need for freedom and ability to choose my own world-view.

tami - the shirts are too pricey for me but i love them!

Emily - thanks for posting the quiz!

Hi Jessica,
Here is another website I have been using to help me understand which candidates have the same beliefs as I.
Talk to you later.

First trip.

Took this picture out the window of the plane today, flying over Manhattan. The first trip of the year is to NYC, just like last year. There's always an incredible energy that I feel when I arrive in New York. I love being here. Jeffrey's giving a private seminar tomorrow morning here at The Waldorf…
