The highlight of a five-hour layover at JFK's Terminal 5 on Satruday was the Muji to Go store. I've been wanting to go to this store in New York since it opened, but haven't had the chance. They have the coolest little pen sets, paper pads, little city block sets, and clear containers. Here's a…

Yearly Archives: 2008Jeffrey and I had plans to visit Anne Frank's house this morning, but never made it. (Now I have another reason to visit Amsterdam again.) I needed more sleep than I thought, and it was super windy and cold outside. When I finally got up, we decided to stay in Haarlem for the last day…. Beautiful photos. Love reading about your travels. Your hat is wonderful! I still enjoy your blog so much and enjoy your fashion style It is the mark of a great blog…that today I discovered both I and my teenage daughter have your blog marked as a favorite. Earlier this fall, I used your blog as the basis for a “care package from home” for two college age daughters. Today our high school daughter pointed me to the boots you have posted as a “really would love these for Christmas” item. Well done! Can’t wait to see you Jess! Beautiful plants on the street in Haarlem, The Netherlands. We took a taxi specifically to go to kidsfactory – a store I discovered online before we arrived here. Wow – I'm so glad we did. It's like everything I wished Babies R Us (which I'm not a big fan of) was in the United States. Lots… That store looks great, wish we had one over here! Hi Jessie and Vicki! Man, that is the coolest bike “street”!!!! Really cool find. Did you get anything? What a great idea to have a bike path with different terrains for kids to test bikes out. Today Jeffrey and I rode the train from Haarlem to Amsterdam (about 17 minutes). European trains are fascinating. We bought the tickets two minutes before the train was departing, ran up the stairs to the track, and jumped on. I'm loving the cheese croissants. It's incredible to see the amount of bikes that exist here…. Looks like a fabulous time Glad you like the Netherlands! Love to see what’s interesting to you guys! Glad to see you are still jumping on trains! It took us 3 hours to figure out the reservation, euro rail system in Italy. It was time well spent, however, as I too find European train stations fascinating! Enjoy. Enjoy every moment… it looks like a facinating place. After almost exactly 24 hours of travel, we arrived at our hotel in Haarlem, The Netherlands, just outside of Amsterdam. This is the clock you see out the window of the hotel. It's part of the St. Bavo church tower. It's beautiful here. Stempels, the hotel we're staying at, is right in the heart of… Love the Stempels. What a great way to renovate a bank…turn it into a trendy hotel/restaurant and bar. We stayed there about 2 years ago during the tulip season. Loved it. Have fun! Your visiting ‘my’ country right now! How much fun! What are you’re plans over here? I’m so happy for you to be able to visit Amsterdam…and all the other cities that you have had a chance to experience with Jeffrey. I hope you are feeling well and enjoying your experience. Love, Mom Of course you HAD to eat at a place called Pasta Di MAMMA, you wonderful MAMMA to be! I miss your face BAD, but have a great time there sweetheart! <3 Beautiful photos! I have heard that Amsterdam is lovely…you are making me want to go there more than ever. Have a great trip! I'll be headed across the Atlantic this evening – looking forward to my first Amsterdam visit! But for now, the plane is stuck on the ground in Charlotte because of weather delays at JFK. Have fun! I’ve always wanted to fly Virgin Atlantic, is that the airline you took? I heard they have manicurist on flight, they don’t fly out of ATL though Bummer. Hate that – hope you made it safe and sound. That’s a long flight… Enjoy your trip… be safe. Hope you will post photos. Kyra¥ Enjoy your trip I like this picture of you Jess. I received a question from Carrie in AZ that read… My husband and I are planning a 7-day trip to a theme park where we plan on being at the theme parks for 6 of the 7 days, from open to close. We will be visiting when the temperatures will be cold, so I know… I love the idea of spending more time on your hair when your outfit is sporty. Why didn’t I figure that one out already?? Now when I’m dressed for family/kid-friendly activities I won’t feel like such a slouch!! Great advice about hair “dressing up” an outfit! It is so true! Even if you’re wearing sporty, athletic wear, having your hair looking great will polish the whole look! Very cool! Each time I read a post like that I realize that my heart is in it (fashion) but I’m still just not quite there on putting it all together in a great way. Since we never got to get together for my shopping spree I just wanted to say thank you for even being willing to do such a thing. Sometimes it is more the gesture that things are possible then the execution you know. So thanks ever so kindly for that! I love the third photo, could you please tell us what you are wearing. Jessica, you are amazingly amazing! I love looking at all of your outfits. You have such great style. I was looking back through your ‘today’s style’ photos the other night to get some ideas of how you wear your scarves + some cute casual looks. You really inspired me. Hope you are feeling well! Great Denim and a wonderful navy blue wool blazer. Are essential that are always the first items in my suitcase when I travel during cooler weather. Great tips Jessica!! I received this comment from Chel: I'd love to know what products you use for your new haircut or any tips and tricks. Here is my current arsenal of hairstyling products and tools…(click on the items to find out more info) I use Kerastase shampoo and conditioner – and occasionally mix in… Bought that Phomollient this week on your recommendation. I am in love! Thanks! I have used the Aveda products before but am interested in the Kerastase products. Will have to look into those. I’m a total Kerastase fan too! Love checking in with you Jessica and can’t wait to see you and baby-to-be in the next couple weeks. Hugs! Great choices!! One of my favorite products from the Kerastase line is the Ciment Thermique primarily helps protect hair from blow drying and heat styling. Even though my hair is not weak I still like the product. I also love Frederic Fekkai products. Jessica, since you use Aveda I think you would enjoy Prive. Great stuff! I’m excited to try those products. Thanks! Here are some of the delights I'm thinking about right now. 1. I love the idea of this little Guardian lamp by Vessel. 2. Pictures of hairstyle idea inspirations. 3. These adorable cake plates from Frances Palmer Pottery. 4. Mmmm, I can't wait for Thanksgiving this year! 5. Birch giftwrap, the coolest airmail stamps,… Seeing Gwenyth Paltrow’s photo reminds me of how I meant to share with you her newsletter which she sends almost once a week. It pertains to food, fashion, meditation and anything that is of interest to her that she wishes to share with anyone and everyone. It’s called Goop (www.goop.com). Thanks so much for the mention Jessica. Really love your blog. I forwarded on to everyone in the office. Thanks again! The cake plates would be perfect for little ones first birthday party. Excited that you are coming home for thanksgiving! Jeffrey and I had a delicious dinner last night at Arthur Bryant's BBQ in Kansas City. We had a platter of tasty treats. The turkey was my favorite. Here's a recipe for their burnt ends. It's always fun to be at a historic place that's been featured in many publications and TV shows. This looks amazing! Any other suggestions for KC? |
