Writing Letters.

Super cool letter-writing wisdom is found in this 1946 "It's fun to write letters!" booklet.I love letters! Especially hand written ones, received for no specific reason. My mom sends them a lot. (My sister wrote on her blog about how lucky we are to have a mom that writes letters). And I keep every one…

Jennifer - I agree with you. My grandmother wrote me weekly letters when I was in college and I still have them…all of them. I couldn’t throw them away. I’m so grateful to have a sampling of her handwriting and it is so fun to go back and read what was going on back in the day. It just doesn’t compare to a phone call, email, or text. No comparison.

{vicki} - My cousin and I have been “pen pals” ever since we learned to write.
I love to get something from her mixed in with the bills–it’s such a nice surprise.

Sherry Macnab - If you love the art of writing letters you would probably enjoy this book, “The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society” It is set near the end of WW2 on a German occupied Brittish island. In fact, I am sure you have heard of it in the literary circles you move in. There aren’t a lot of books written in that style these days. Very enjoyable. Love your blog, love your style.

Leslie - It is truly a lost art. I am also blessed with a mother that writes, and each one is special. I need to write more often. Thanks for the reminder!

July delights.

Some things I love right now…   1. Chic baby bag now – pocketbook later! (Thanks to the wipeable, non-stainable patent leather!) 2. A sweet summertime dress from Elizabeth and James. 3. Capturing little moments of love between Jeffrey and Gabrielle. 4. Flowers sent from faraway friends. (Thanks Rebekah!)

Mark - I love the LV bag… almost as much as I love Jeffrey and Gabrielle. She’s so dang cute! I want a baby! (but only for a day because I’m not responsible enough). Love you!

30 today.

Sold Out.

A note to online retailers: If an item you're selling is sold out, please take it off your site. Especially if it's a great new Miu Miu flat in an incredible color for fall. Why do you have to show it to me so I'm forced to daydream about it all day…knowing I'll never be…

Jessica - Kiersten!
Wow this is great news!
Thanks and I’ll send you an email.
Jessica

Kierstin - Hi Jessica,
I don’t know if you remember be, but I’m Darin Pattison’s girlfriend Kierstin. . . I am still working at Nordstrom in Salon Shoes and we have that Miu Miu flat in stock in brown and black. If you want me to send you your size I can, my work number is 206-628-1600, or you can email me at kirchme1@seattleu.edu (I check this email more often than my work email).
Your daughter is beautiful, by the way . . . If you come to Seattle again soon we should get Freddie and Mark and all go out!
Kierstin

Linda - AMEN!
I went through this frustration yesterday, while ordering the beginnings of school wardrobes for my 5 – 13 – 16 year old daughters. Trying to explain the concept of “sold out” to a 5 year old is NOT a pleasant experience.

Blogging.

I think the coolest thing about blogging is being able to look back and see what you were doing last year, or two years ago, or even four years ago for me. Being able to pull up the images in seconds – it really makes it seem like just yesterday. Around this time last year…

Kath - I was 30 when I had my first baby! What a wonderful, happy time of my life. My birthday is Monday–I’ll be 43 and my “baby” will be 13 in December. How the time has flown. Enjoy your day!

Stephanie - Sounds like you are well on your way to having the happiest of birthdays! :)

Kim - My daughter was 6 months old when I turned thirty. I remember thinking….I’ve never felt happier.(now she’s going to be 16 already!) 30 is awesome.
Happy Happy Birthday Jessica:)

Jessie - I remember seeing pictures of when you first met Noah early on in your blog. And now I will get to do the same with Gabrielle on mine. Pretty cool. Love your blog and love you.

Dishwashing.

How do you load your dishwasher? Isn't it funny to think that each person, or each family, has a specific way of loading theirs. Just in case you're doing it the "wrong" way, here are some guidelines on how to do it BEST from Every Day with Rachael Ray.

jenn - lol my hubby and I argued about HOW to load the dishwasher when we first married. Was pretty funny. We still load it differently ;)

{vicki} - Yes, I definately have my own way of loading the dishwasher. Certain things have to go in a certain place/way.
One thing I TOTALLY DISAGREE with the diagram above—FORKS AND KNIVES GO TIP DOWN!!!!!!!!!! HAVE YOU EVER REACHED IN AND STUCK ONE BETWEEN YOUR FINGER AND NAIL??
Once you do–they’ll be tip down.

5.

Love this thought from the book 5. I've had so many firsts in my life over the course of the last four months. And as I've loved (almost) every minute of being a mother, I've learned so much about myself in the process. This book has lots of other perplexing questions to ask yourself –…

jenn - I call Mondays… MM’s for Marvelous Mondays because I get sick of going on fb and seeing people whining about them! lol I love them! I love the new blog header!
I think I might make a chapters run tomorrow and look for this book! Thanks Jes!
xo

Sonja - I just bought the 5 book online!! It’s not for sale in Holland so I go with what you told me on your blog!!!!!!

kelly - thanks for helping have a brighter outlook on Mondays!! I will print and look at that every Monday..as a reminder!!

Nicole - What a wonderful outlook on life to have (in regard to Mondays)! It sure brings stress levels down with that perspective. :) I love the new banner, too!

Liz - I love this because personally I have always loved Mondays. For a few years it was even garbage day at our house, which was an even deeper reminder of cleaning out the old and starting fresh for a new week. Happy Monday!

lee - Happy Monday! I have the book 5 on my bookshelf, just waiting until I can make some quality time for it.
Love the new banner…sassy, edgy and wonderful. =)

Wendy Kenney@23Kazoos - Love the banner, missed meeting you in Phoenix with Jeffrey! Thanks for sharing your beautiful baby with us!

Sonia McAdams - What if you made the banner longer in length? Your banner kind of reminds me of Miss Couturable except she has full picture of herself.

jessica - Hi Alexandra,
Thanks for the feedback! I’m working on trying to resize the banner to not be so HUGE! Stay tuned.
Jessica

Alexandra - There’s a girl on Facebook that I’m friends with I’ve never met her personally but I always notice on her updates that for everyday of the week she has something like…Happy Marvelous Monday…Happy Thankful Tuesday or Happy Wonderful Wednesday and so forth.I think it’s catchy! By the way, YOUR sister totally ROCKS! I like the changes on your blog, although I feel the banner is a little too big!
