Too cute – I am laughing because my mom gave Hayden that same turkey that gobbles:-) Hope you had a great one!
Absolutley PRECIOUS!!!!
Food is on my mind this week! I love how this sweet little egg custard came out. I added the berries and fresh whip cream. This dessert is one of Jeffrey's favorites – so I've been working to perfect it! Here's the fashion version of my above dessert! (Photograph by Steven Meisel for Italian Vogue.)…

Hi Ryan,
Thanks! I haven’t tried making creme brulee yet – but it’s next on my list!
Cheers to you and Grace!
jessica
you are one great photographer. I really like your asthetic. The pic of Gabrielle is particularly exceptional.
Have you tried a creme brulet yet?
Gabrielle went for the bites of banana. (And had some avocado too!) And I love this idea from Cookie for roasted cranberries and pears.

Hi Jess!
I’m adding it to my idea book for Thanksgiving 2010 when we will be hosting all our family in our new kitchen loft!
This year we get to feast at Jeffrey’s daughter Rebecca’s house!
Love,
Jess
Yum! Are you making those for thanksgiving?
Does it get any sweeter than this?
Show 1 comment
It could be a little sweeter if Gabrielle were wearing it!!!!
Keep this in mind as you shop for the holidays or as you're creating your own wish list. I found it in Dan Zandra's book Love Life.

you are so right! And the latest gabrielle is so sweet with this little french hat! Shes a cutie!
So true. We forget that many times and get wrapped up in the commercialism of Christmas. Thanks for the reminder
It always feels good to see my choices published or featured. Such is the case with this circled garment. It's a sweet, lightweight wool dress that I picked it up at Anthropologie during our recent trip to Las Vegas. One day later, it was in the display window there, and then I saw it in…

Love Gabrielle’s hat–she’s so cute!
Hey Jessica, I love all your fashion tips and such. Is there a particular magazine you grab for the latest fashion/style at the moment?
Does tape make you happy? I've been seeing and reading nothing but great things about Happy Tape. I do believe a few of these rolls will make a delightful addition to my everyday (and holiday) gift wrapping arsenal that currently relies on scotch tape. I'm already a fan and haven't even held a roll in my hands…
Show 9 comments
Funky and fun, but I would never spend that kind of money on tape. Scotch works just fine around here. Especially when the wrapping gets tossed in the trash anyway!
that tape is awesome…so is gabrielle’s wardrobe!!! if you ever have a need to pass on some hand me downs…i have a 4 week baby girl who would be a willing taker!!
I have the set of tape in the second picture, and LOVE it! Just bought it of etsy, I mostly use it for scrapbooking, but that’s a great idea to use it for wrapping presents : )
I have been wanting some too. I see it everywhere. Most recently in Martha Stewart.
How very cool! Must find me some of that.
I trip love tape…but as my sister advised me “you can have boys… and you can have tape… but you can’t have boys AND tape” ![]()
i have two boys and a girl and usually have to ‘hide’ my tape
Hey hey thanks for posting a link to such yummy tape. My 3 yo son is totally into Christmas gift giving this year and would get a kick out of helping wrap gifts with such fun tapes. Let us know how it works out for you!
hehe I love that tape too!
I LOVE happy tape. It’s great fun!

I lurk on your blog from time to time & I came across another blog that I thought you might like. http://seaofshoes.typepad.com/sea_of_shoes/
I'm also thinking of Jeffrey's daughter, Rebecca, today on her birthday! And Gabrielle is 8 months old today. There is a lot to celebrate!

It’s my birthday too Jess!
I have to agree with Lucky Magazine that this is a brilliant idea. My current tool for self-manicure mishaps is typically a q-tip, but I'm hoping this tool will work better and help to cleanly and precisely eliminate any painting errors. If you have used it, please share your experience!

Hi Marit!
Thanks for visiting.
I’ve always admired European women’s nails.
Typically very clean with a nude polish.
(Now I know an additional secret!)
Cheers!
Jessica
Hi,
i’m surprised seeing that this is somehing new in the U.s.. Here in europe we use these things since about 10 years. i love this, especially with dark nail laquers, i use them all the time!
greetings from germany

I got a similar one in a Ms. Manicure brand set that I bought at Target and love it – it works very well and is so easy to use.
Perfect! What a great idea, thanks for passing this on!
I have been using a fine tipped paint brush for a while…this would eliminate the need for dipping in acetone though! Good one Jess!
i haven’t tried this specific brand yet, but i tried one of these a few years back. it worked pretty well, but not fabulously. this one might be worth looking into though… thanks for the heads up! :]
Haven’t tried this brand of pen yet but I love the idea!
It's so great to be back home in Charlotte after a long visit out West. We arrived home to incredible fall weather (it's in the 70s) and I'm once again reminded how grateful I am to live here. We took a long walk around the neighborhood today. It was a perfect day for Gabrielle to…

Jessica – great choice. Last week, I purchased a beautiful dress with similiar detailing on the zipper at Nordstrom. It’s by Rebecca Taylor – it fits just beautifully. I’m so happy to have added it to my collection.

the “seasonal fruit salad” picture is giving me bad flashbacks to the limited fruit offerings in my college dining hall (at least it wasn’t canned fruit cocktail in sauce, though!).
love these pics jessica….especially the one of gabrielle in the leaves..and that dress is going to look dynamite on you..glad your home safe and sounds like you had a great trip.
Lovely photos Jessica.
It is always nice to travel, but ever so much nicer to be home… and to such fantastic weather too, BONUS!!!
The last stop of our near monthlong West Coast trip was Vegas! This is my one and only trip to Vegas this year. (In many of the years past I have visited five or more times.) Although it seems to have lost a bit of its luster, it's still an exciting place to visit. Knowing…

you always look great – if it’s not too impolite can i ask have you had a work on your nose? – i had rhinoplasty 16 months ago and the tip of my nose has remained quite red and I notice that yours does a little too. Been told by numerous makeup artists that a green based foundation would work best but have yet to find one i like. Any recommends?
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for visiting! Not much food to report on from this Vegas trip – my meals consisted of room service and Whole Foods! We did, however, have dinner at Craftsteak http://www.mgmgrand.com/restaurants/craftsteak-steak-house.aspx at MGM which is excellent. We’ve been there many times before and it’s consistently good. I had salmon and Jeffrey had short ribs.
Let me know your favorite type of food and where you’re staying and I’ll give you several suggestions for fantastic places to eat during your Vegas visit.
Cheers!
Jessica
It looks like you’ve been having a lovely time traveling around. I’ve been a fan of your web log for awhile now and I love the topics you write on. Will you be doing a food post about your Vegas visit? My husband and I will be going to Las Vegas in January. We are both foodies and would love some recommendations on some excellent dining. This will be my first visit as an adult.
Hi Darling! Love this post about your Leonard Cohen experience. So insightful. You have inspired me to listen to his music. Thank you. ~Rebekah
P.S. Beautiful shot of Bruna and Little Miss G.
Love it when the stars align and the Cohen Gods are on your side to make an incredible experience happen for you.
Hi Jessica, glad you had fun in Las Vegas! I am a long time reader of your blog, but this is my first question. I recently lost 40 lbs, and now enjoying wearing more stylish clothes & necklaces, except for I never know what kind of neckline looks good w/certain necklaces. Like a V neck looks good w/a long necklace, or more choker like?? I don’t know!! any rule of thumb? Thanks!! Colleen
I do believe this to be a fun holiday skirt. You can find it at Anthropologie.

Jessica,
Thanks for the info on the Daily Dozen. We just returned from spending Christmas in Seattle and we loved the donuts! I can’t believe we’ve traveled to Seattle (and Pike Place!) more than 10X and have never had these bits of yumminess!
Thanks again.
I have always been SO curious about the Italian Spaghetti House and wanted to try it. After seeing that picture, I’ll definitely make it over there.
You are making me very hungry right now! I want a Beecher’s grilled cheese stat! I may have to settle for the ones they are selling at Metropolitan Market though:) It was great seeing you while you were in town. We had a lot of fun at the party you threw for Jessie. Hope to see you again soon…maybe at playgroup?:)
Hi Meryl!
I believe this to be my recipe for control around delicious foods:
2 parts don’t overindulge. 1 part stay active. 1 part genes and metabolism. 1 part eat balanced.
Hi Cathy!
The mini donut place is called the Daily Dozen. If you’re heading south in Pike Place Market past the flying fish place, take a left down the walkway that takes you back out to 1st and it’s there on the left-hand side before the magazine stand. Here is a bit more info http://www.yelp.com/biz/daily-dozen-doughnut-company-seattle
Hi Melanie!
Yes, Gabrielle is definitely beginning to check out the foods we eat. I love when she is on my lap and I take a bite and if I look down at her she just smiles – with a little grin that says “May I have some?” Too cute.
Cheers!
Jessica
Here’s the real question…how do you maintain any sense of discipline and self control around so much beautiful and (surely) delicious food?
Tell us! How do you keep that foxy figure? Inquiring minds wanna know!
Hi Jessica,
Can you tell me the location of the mini donut place?
thanks!
Cathy
hee hee – it just seems so unfair! i’m sure gabrielle will catch up as soon as she is able. does she watch you eat with the “i know your food is better than mine” stare?
Man, I love these sweet little humans. Henry McDougall. Lucy McDougall. Anna Edwards. Simon Edwards.

Hi Kal,
I’m unsure of who to give credit for on this quote! I hope it’s Dr. Suess, he was brilliant!
