Fashion Challenge.

I received this fashion question from Vera: I am a 37 year old mother of two and I love all of the flowy dresses that are out these days. Most of the dresses I see have spaghetti straps and I will wear a light cardigan over the dress. My dilemma is that many of the pretty…

Vera - Thanks for answering my fashion question! I like #4. Very pretty and feminine!

Grace Hester - I have had this question at times too when methods 3 and 4 have just somehow not worked for instance when the dress is made of jersey knit and the extra layer under looks bulky on me. I have not seen the plunge neckline before – will have to check it out.
Welcome back with the “Dear Jessica” fashion posts!

Little Fish.

It's a bit of a sad day here today. Gabrielle and I are staying in Charlotte instead of taking the trip to Minneapolis to meet Jeffrey. It was advised by our doctor that it would be best not to take Gabrielle on the airplane at this time unless it's necessary because of the swine flu….

{vicki} - Definatley the best decision!

Cath - One of the really fun Mommy things, these decisions. Sorry it did not go as planned. She is so gorgeous!

Camille - i just have to say i think she is probably one of the most beautiful babies i have ever seen!!!
hang in there mama~

Sue - Jessica, you made the right decision for now. It’s not worth taking a risk with either Gabrielle’s health or your own, as well. There will be many more trips for Gabrielle. I’m sure she will be a very well-travelled little girl! She is getting more beautiful in every photo!

Gina La Porte - Here’s a great link for face maskshttp://surgical-masks.com/ I heard on tv that numerous counties are already out of them. It’s just a little scare, but I’m keeping a YES! Attitude. :-)

jenn - I actually thought about you the other day because I knew you were going to be traveling again soon. Sending you lots of light and love!!!
j

Gina La Porte - Jessica, I know how excited you were for both you Gabrielle to meet with Jeffrey, the decision you made as family is a really good. My father is a doctor, there’s a lot of sad things happening with the swine flu and affecting many adults and children. Through out, the United State hospitals and schools have been shut down for days and possible weeks. There will be future occassions, in which you wil be able to meet up now is not the best time for little Gabrielle to be on any airplane. My dad said, it will probably be like this weeks even possible months. Take care and I hope that Jeffrey stays well since he’s on super travel mode these days. If you get an opportunity you should buy him some face masks to have in case of an emergency along with santizing wipes.
These wipes are great my father gave them to us http://www.restockit.com/Purell-Hand-Sanitizing-Wipes-(GOJ9022-10).html

tami - i can imagine you had been looking forward to this trip for weeks after not being able to travel, I hope other trip will be planned for you soon

marit - oh!! Thats really sad! I was hungry to hear how it was on the first trip! But i think it was the best decision for you three!
we in germany say: keep your head up!

jessica - Shannon,
That is too funny!
I’m going to post some of the “what I packed” pictures later today! Unfortunately, we aren’t taking the trip because the doctor recommended against it based on the swine flu. I’m so sad. But I’m all packed and ready for the next trip!
Cheers,
Jessica

shannon - WHEW! I thought this was what you had packed for your up coming trip! I hope you have a wonderful time travelling as a family.
Take care,

Lindsay Lohan reads Gitomer!

Lindsay Lohan is reading Jeffrey's Little Teal Book of Trust! SOURCE: Read this. And this. This is super exciting because I'm a celebrity gossip fan and typically stop by People.com to check out the celeb pictures daily!   How fun to find that People picked it up too! And it's on the front page of US…

LaurelBullock - I opine that to receive the loans from banks you ought to present a great motivation. Nevertheless, once I have got a secured loan, because I wanted to buy a house.

tania willis - GO JEFFREY! (and jessica….because i know you work just as hard editing his works!)
to me, trust is having confidence in the ability of the individual you are putting all things at risk with.

Patti - Trust, without it you have and are nothing!!
It is the fundamental basis of all relationships!!!

Catharine - Trust to me is something that I require in every relationship that I have, w/o it, there is nothing.

Cindy - Trust is when you can know without a doubt that a person will always be there for you, you can count on them to do what they say.

tammy t - Trust equals safety for me.
Laughing about the sandwich comments! Then I feel kind of sad for her!
t

Amanda Susan - asking no questions and just knowing

Andrea - trust means that I can be myself.

Czarina - Trust is everything. We have nothing without it.

Stephanie - Trust is fundamental to any and all relationships. This book is such a “life” book – one that I’ve recommended to others and have completely enjoyed reading.

Dawn - Trust is everything.
Without it, we have nothing.
It is the foundation for everything sound in our lives.

Kim - Wow, that is cool!
Trust. I have learned, finally, in my life, that the only one I can trust is myself. Sometimes that is hard. I think that maybe I need to read Jeffrey’s book!

Amy - Trust is confidence, love and loyalty–in yourself and those you surround yourself with.

Paula - WOW That is great for the book Jessica and hopefully some of it will sync in for Lindsay Lohan – she needs it! :)

Bruna - thi is so cool

e - how cool!
to me trust is being completely open and able to let your guard down. being able to give yourself to somebody else and to yourself fully is how I think of trust.

Katie C. - Awesome pics – that is great advertising! :)
Trust, once earned, means being able to let your guard down and be creative, be innovative and stretch your wings, because those you trust have your back.

Kimberly L.C. - Trust is being able to be yourself fully — to give yourself fully and not feel vulnerable that you will be compromised in some way.

Tammy - Trust is everything. Without it, you have nothing.

Jennifer McIntyre - I was sort of laughing when I saw the pix – and I thought of how busy you are right now – and then to have this “fun” thing happen in celebrity news. Obv – I am a fan of the news, too or I wouldn’t have seen the pix. . For me trust is in God. If you don’t have that – what do you have??

Mary Lib - I am a huge “fan” of trust. Without it I don’t think there’s much left to work with. I am so blessed that I have so people in my life that I have complete trust in — and they can expect that in me also. I would love to be the winner of this awesome sounding book. Thanks for the chance(ps-Gabrielle is just beautiful. I know you are moving every minute with her.)

adelina - trust = unconditional listening
Thanks for the chance at the book!

Wendy Nelson Kenney - I didn’t know she could read! JK! It shows she has substance! :)

Christina Hall - Jessica! that is really cool! go Jeffery!
Trust is not questioning, believing and having faith under no conditions! trust is a needed and necessary foundation for any relationships to work..family, dating/marriage, friends, co workers..ect
Im excited!

Suzi - Yay for Jeffrey! It’s nice to know he is reaching all demographics :)
For me trust is like breathing. You just know that you can count on it even when you aren’t focused on it.

Lisa Martin - trust means you can sleep peaceful at night, knowing someone is taking care of things.

alexandra - trust, to me, is about knowing that someone is honest, helpful and has your best interests at heart. it means that you can count on them, their word and their actions.
so cool that Jeffrey’s getting some fun press!

Denise Medeiros - That’s so cool. To me trust is completely believing without needing verification.

Mary Ann - Trust means, when having awakened from a dream that has become a nightmare, you try again.

Vera - I just watched the clip on amazon of jeffrey talking about the book and he brings up several thoughts about trust that I never considered. When I think of trust, I think of consistency. I trust that my husband will always be there for me. Not just sometimes.

Amy S. - Trust is what makes me content in my current position. My administrator trusts my judgement, he trusts that he hired me for a reason and lets me do my thing, he trusts me with the information I need to do my job well even if it would be considered confidential.

~M~ - Oh you must have been SUPER EXCITED to see that!!!
(side note: Lindsay, please please eat a sandwich. The camera adds 10 lbs. I should not be able to see your ribs sticking out.)

niki - trust to me means having an unconditional love between two people. i have finally found somebody that i can feel loves me unconditionally and i love him unconditionally, warts and all and the trust between us is beautiful.

Kath - So cool! I love reading the celebrity gossip too. I wonder if I would have recognized the book on my own…

Danni - Trust is something that grows over time, but also letting yourself feel the feelings & accept things for what they are. Trust is about being able to give yourself fully & letting your guard down in all aspects.

Jennifer - I’m expecting a baby in June, so I’ve been particularly enjoying your blog lately. One thing my husband and I have been talking about is how this baby can and will change our relationship (good and bad). We’re trying to be completely realistic about it and trust is a recurring theme. So lately trust is knowing that the other has the best intentions for us as a new family.

Melanie - How cool for you and Jeffrey! I thought I was the only one that addicted to people.com. Ha, ha!
Trust is following your instincts and believing in yourself.

julie s. - trust is being able to not edit yourself when speaking and knowing that you will be heard and understood!

Ksea - that’s some good advertising!

Linda - Cool…..But, tell the girl to put it down and EAT a sandwich!

Claudia W. - Ha! Glad I e-mailed this to you. I knew you’d get a kick out of it. :)

jenn - thats pretty cool!!!

Phat Burrito.

Gabrielle and I have been taking lots of walks around our neighborhood.Just down the train (light rail) tracks is a great restaurant called PHAT Burrito. We've become frequent visitors. They have fast, delicious, super fresh food. I'm a fan of the soft tacos and the chips and guacamole. But I haven't heard anything bad about…

Ksea Cantonwine - That looks good!!

Kim - I had forgotten yet another great thing about having a newborn….all those wonderful walks all over the neighborhood. Looks like you live in a great one:)

Claudia W. - We love the light rail and take it all the time. :)

Surviving Pregnancy.

I'm definitely happy to be beyond the "pregnant" stage of having a little one. Although I didn't for one minute think of it as a negative time, I'm glad it's over! Here are some of the things that helped me survive the time… ZANTAC. It cured my heartburn instantly. I tried Tums, Rolaids, etc. None…

Ali - Hey what flats are those? You know how I love flats :)

jenn - Very cool that you documented what helped you get through it! I never thought of doing that after my kids ;)
The heart burn. If its still giving you grief, shoot me a quick email and I’ll send you a map with reflex points that will help it!

alexandra - a pregnancy mosaic – fabulous idea!
loved reading this post – so many fun tid-bits (I’ve wondered if Stouffers Mac and Cheese would be good!!). I also found your thoughts on your new haircut helpful – I keep debating about cutting my hair short enough to donate it – still working up the nerve to do it.
Also… wondering if you’ve ever had a Maxx New York bag – thinking of getting the ‘Italian coated twill large shopper’ – wonder if that would be a wise purchase. Any thoughts?
Thanks Jessica.
Happy Earth Day!

melissa - thanks for the wicked list!! i’m 5 weeks right now and your list contains some very good advice! thanks!

Kathy - What an AWESOME way to capture your pregnancy memories (in this little collage)…I’m sure little Gabrielle will love hearing/seeing them when she gets older! ;-)

theyearofasking - one of my friends just turned me on to your site and it’s so great! it’s so fun to see you in your different clothes, and you DO NOT, by the way, look like you just had a baby.
