jessica - Hi Robin,
Here’s a great post on ETSY I found about wonderful mother’s day ideas…
http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/guest-curator-mothers-day-picks-with-handmade-charlotte-8158/
Cheers!
Jessica

robin - love this combo…so pretty.. anad speaking of something pretty I have a question..any mother’s day gift idea’s/ recommendations? a fav online flower delivery site?

heather - would have never thought to pair these two colors together..very cute!

perfect bound - What a great magazine. I think I love each and every look.

Jody - I adore that hue of blue! Thanks!

Bon - I am loving the shoes you have on today Jess! Hot girl!

Katie - This is by far one of my all-time favorite color combinations.

Grandmapa.

Here are the rest of the great captures from when my mom and dad were here for a visit!        We stopped by the Kings Drive Farmers Market for some fresh produce. Delicious South Carolina strawberries. Fresh organic eggs. Lots of lemons. And Gabrielle took the maiden voyage in her Radio Flyer wagon that Grandma…

Jessica Fulkerson O'Brien - great shots! love the city skyline.

kim - beautiful photos- love the one of you walking with your family in the park, so glad you were able to have such a nice visit with your parents (and Gabrielle is really changing- that sunscreen photo is lovely!)

Jess - I second these comments. Beautiful Jess!

robin - just beautiful jessica…the entire post

jessica - Thanks Jamie!

Jamie - Jessica….your posts are always so positive and sincere. Thank you for that. I love the first photo…what a beautiful moment. I don’t know you personally, but your grace and class show through. Thank you for sharing and reminding me that I need/want to start being more deliberate about capturing those special moments during the everyday. :)

Chic boot.

I'd love to know the outfit you'd build around this boot. These are two things I would consider.

Erin Souza - I love those pants Jess, yowza! I need.

Cristin H. - Hmmm…love the boots. I think a grey cashmere sweater dress with dark tights. Maybe something like this: http://bit.ly/ap9FpD

jessica - Hi Paula – I haven’t seen them in person, but yes I believe that’s pretty true to color. They’re denim.
I love reading all the ideas!
Cheers to all,
Jessica

Paula - How YUMMY is that!!!! :) What wouldn’t they go with??!!! Is that pretty true to color?
Definitely anything from Anthropologie, skinny jeans, skirts, tunics…

sarah Jones - classic and simple. Think Jcrew, white button high starch shirt, mabe a tiny gold necklace and a khaki colored bottom, maybe skirt a lil short. Chunky afrian themed bracelts. Perfection!

{vicki} - I have a red, flowered print skirt that would look great with the boot–I wear a white layered look top with it.

Nancy - Ah, never mind. I see they’re from Chanel when I hold my mouse on the pic. Sorry!

Nancy - Love this boots!
They look really comfy.
Hope you’ll share what brand they are!
If I had to pair them up with something from my closet, I have a dress that looks like this one: http://bit.ly/a7DOJX. Add a cardigan and I am good for several kinds of occassions :)

Liz - I see a pink and white polkadot skirt somewhere in there.

kribss - white skirt w/blue jean type shirt w/white tank top. but thats just me.

Tracy - I think they would look great with a floral dress! A flowy, springy one you can wear with the boots, while there’s still a chill in the air. I’m picturing something with lots of yellow.

Kristine - Leggings…sheer tunic, short jacket…..chunky cuff bracelet….

summer - Just the boots ;) Okay and a fabulous pair of leggings, white short sleeved shirt dress and a big chunky coral and gold necklace…or just the boots!

LMK - Make the pencil skirt, silk blouse, Jacket

LMK - Pencil Skirt?

JeanetteS - I’d love the boot!!!

Dear Max.

Dear Max Beaty, I just saw your pictures and notes on your mama Jessie's blog about your "early education in modern communication" and I wanted to send an East Coast shout out to say hey! I prefer iPhone, but we can still be friends. See you on Facebook! Love, Gabrielle

jessica - Hi Lauren – Here’s the link

Thanks for visiting!
Jessica

Lauren Carlton - where did you get your iphone cover? i love it.

robin - so cute…just love her!

leni - too cute! next she’ll want an ipad. :)

Liz - I’m pretty sure they will look like a hearing aid and be voice activated…and unfortunately for us, the smaller the electronic device, usually the more expensive.

Jessica Fulkerson O'Brien - hehe – too cute!

Jess - I too love the Iphone. I thought my dad would get the hint when Apple payed for the computer I purposely destroyed to get him in the store, but sadly no. I just hope Gabrielle doesn’t leave me when she sees my cell phone is still mounted to mom’s car. Come see us soon girls,
Max

Linda - That’s adorable! Do you ever wonder…what will technology look like by the time Gabrielle is old enough to beg for an iphone? (Which from experience I can tell you will be about age twelve.)
When I was a high school senior in ’75…the national high school debate question was, how should the US Court system reform the jury system to allow for speedy trials as mandated by federal law. We qualified for nationals after argueing successfully that our opponents suggestion that juries be picked by computer selection, was unrealistic due to scarcity of computer access and the formidable cost involved.
My oldest son and daughter were born in the eighties. Before cellphones! Like even before the is it suitcase or a phone..cellphone. Our youngest daughters were entering pre-school the year the iphone was introduced. Which makes me wonder…what will PDA/Smart phones look like when the twins are old enough to “ask/nag” for their first phones.

CLT Pizza.

I'm on a mission to discover the best pizza in Charlotte – and today's trial was at PieTown. Started the meal with a field green salad (topped with oven dried tomatoes, parmesan, and balsamic vinaigrette. And I selected the pepperoni. Delicious crust. Bruna ordered the bacon and egg pizza and was surprised to see the…

robin - oh that looks good….will have to check that out…and you’ll have to do a post on how you manage to eat such yummy food and still look amazing..tips on your own diet and exercise program

Erin Huber - Wow! This looks awesome! I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this place in the 3 years I’ve lived here. I told Todd about it and we can’t wait to try it out!

~M~ - Here in Chicago it would be impossible to pick just one place to be “the best.” I am spoiled with a plethora of wonderful pizza choices.

Jessica Fulkerson O'Brien - i hate not-fully-cooked eggs, but oddly, love how they look like that on pizza. it’s a beautiful presentation!

Melanie - I’ve been craving quality pizza lately – looks delicious!

Elizabeth Villegas - Jessica,
I am so jealous. How do you stay so skinny yet eat all this unbelievable food?
Please share your secrets! I am sure others have wondered as well. You are just beautiful!

Jen - Hi Jessica, I have read for a long time, but never commented- I also live in Charlotte, and my favorite pizza place is Intermezzo in plaza midwood. Pietown looks wonderful too though, I will have to give that a try!

Nancy - It all looks yummy to me!
I’m so lucky, my favorite (pick-up) pizza place moved a couple of years ago and it was not so convenient for me to pick them up anymore.
But when I found this apartment a little over a year ago, guess which place was now within a 10 minute walk from my frontdoor?!
Still so happy about that.
And their signature pizza also has an egg in the middle, but they break it so it’s not too soggy on your pizza.
Ugh. Now I’m hungry. And they’re not open on Sunday… *sigh* :)

Philly Meal.

The one place that's always on our list to visit in Philadelphia is the Reading Terminal Market. It used to be for Rick's Steaks – but after they left the terminal, Jeffrey discovered the brisket sandwich at Tommy DiNic's and we've been going there ever since. To really get the full enjoyment of your visit,…

stephanie - I love it there! so glad its local.

Amy Z - that brisket sandwich looks so good!

~M~ - Oh Jessica how do you stay so slim! Every time I come to your blog I see pictures of delicious and fattening foods! Then I drool all over my laptop…

ad hoc cake.

Sometimes you just need a slice of chocolate cake (with a glass of milk)! I found the ad hoc cake mix and frosting at Williams Sonoma and couldn't wait to try it. Everything turned out perfect – and scrumptious. And I love that they use the slogan "for temporary relief from hunger." I'm adding their…

NYC.

We're back in Charlotte after a splendid visit to NYC and a stay at the Ace Hotel (which was just as delightful as our stop at the Ace Hotel in Portland.) "Perfection can be intellectually stimulating," ACE Hotel co-owner Alex Calderwood says, "But things that are slightly imperfect have soul." Love this motto. Ace Hotel…

karen - Just wanted to say how much I enjoy the pictures on your blog. I love and am inspired by the way you capture and view the everyday things. Thank you.

leni - oh my! that photo of gabrielle looking out the nyc window tugged at my heart strings. so perfect and beautiful. definitely frame it.

JeanetteS - I’ve never heard of Ace Hotel till now. We stayed at the W last month but I think we are ready to try something different. Besides, being on 29th is much closer to Soho, Greenwich Village and Little Italy.
I also had no idea that Woody Allen played in a jazz band. Wow!

summer - I adore Woody Allen, what an incredible trip and so cool for Ms. Gabrielle to get to have experiences like these throughout her life. You make a lovely family!

jessica - Hi Cheryl,
The challah was at Zaro’s bakery.
http://www.zaro.com/miva/merchant.mvc
Thanks for visiting!
Jessica

Cheryl Anderson - Where did you get the perfect challah?

Valerie - Sounds like an incredible trip. I love how you share the places, the sights, the food, etc. with us, especially since I still have yet to visit NYC, but now I have new places there I would like to see. :) And who would’ve known Woody Allen has a jazz band?

Hey Mario Batali.

"Hey Mario Batali, my mom tells me you have amazing talent!"

Trista - Very cool photo!

robin - wow…I recognized him instantly…the crocs..his signature for me at least..so cool and gabrielle right in the pic..how fun!

Tracy - He is instantly recognizable from the back!

elizabeth - how awesome!! you can’t miss those orange crocs. i love him. :)

Liz - NO WAY! I would have fainted. He is without a doubt the one chef I would want to sit in on his show…so amazing. I LOVE him. I’ll buy Gabrielle my favorite of his cookbooks and we can paste that picture in the front of it for her! Cool.

alexandra - fun!

Kelly Jo - No way- that is SOOOO COOL!! He does have huge calf muscles. And, he’s smaller than he looks on tv.

Shelly - wow i’d know those crocs anywhere :)

Cathy - Is that really him? Cool!!!

Tami - his calf muscles are huge!

Philly.

Good morning, Philadelphia! (This is the view from Loews Philadelphia Hotel which has comfortable rooms, a great location in the city, and reasonable rates. Perfect for a weekend getaway.) We were visiting the city to see Chelsea Handler perform at the Tower Theater. She's hilarious. And her opening act, Jo Koy, was even better! Watch…

Jessica O'Brien - Jo Koy is hilarious! They’re great together on the show. Gorgeous pictures – thanks for sharing with us.

Shelly - ohhhh i triple love Chelsea Handler…and Jo Koy! such fun.

robin - I thought you were traveling again..just had that feeling…wonderful captures jessica..have fun!

jessica - Peanut Chews: “Maybe it’s the roasted nuts. Or the chewy center. Could be the great chocolately flavor.” “chewy center with peanuts enrobed in dark chocolate.”
Here is more info on the peanut chews
http://www.justborn.com/peanut-chews

michele h.. - Yes, what is a peanut chew? I am a peanut butter lover and candy lover, so I’m pretty sure I’d like them!

Kath - Wish I knew you were in town…you could have taken me shopping!

leni - i can’t get over how fast gabrielle is growing! she’s so adorable.

jenn - okay what are peanut chews??? The photos are great as usual ;) Glad you had a great time! xo

DQ.

Jeffrey and I are super fans of Dairy Queen. Gabrielle joined the club this past weekend with her first vanilla cone.

Liz - Woop woop Gabsy wabsy!

Lisa martin - thanks a lot! now I want DQ!!! BAD! lol

leni - such cute photos. i can honestly say i have never had a dq ice cream cone and i’m 26!

Tracy - I can’t wait to do this with my little guy soon! It’s still a bit chilly out here, but I’m really looking forward to watching him eat an ice cream cone on a warm summer day. Beautiful pictures of Gabrielle (and a wonderful memory for mom and dad!).

kim - What sweet photos of Gabrielle eating her first cone ! You sure have nice parents (DQ is where we got to go for a special treat growing up too!)

Carla - They DQ has the best cones.

Flea Market.

My mom and dad are here in Charlotte! We headed to the always fun Metrolina Flea Market this past weekend. And we've all been enjoying the local spring sights.  Knowing that Jeffrey and I collect books, my Aunt Judy sent with my mom a small collection of the most precious books from my grandmother's collection….

jenn - looks like a fabulous time! funny how things change when we grow up eh? hehe
have fun!
xo

robin - so nice to see your mom and dad..I’ve been to the flea market once with one of my daughters who has a love for nostalgia…she bought her boyfriend some reagan campaign buttons that he really wanted..love the vintage milk BOTTLES…would make some pretty vases

{vicki} - Looks like Gabrielle REALLY enjoyed that cone!
Those books would be very welcome into my home too.
And I was the same way when I was little—totally did not want anything OLD.
Looks like you enjoyed your parents visit.

lee - It was fun to read your thoughts on antique fairs/flea markets from then and now, because I feel the same way! Even in high school, I’d kinda roll my eyes and walk along patiently when my mom and dad stopped at an antique fair or a flea market…but now, I really enjoy spending that time with them, comparing finds, and sharing laughs and conversation. Interesting how things change like that, isn’t it? =)

Cool Toys.

Gabrielle has been so into the special toys that were sent to her for first birthday. (Thanks Stacey and Auntie Lou!) It's a delight to watch her discover all that's around her.

robin - sweeet!!!

Liz - Our pleasure. That puppy looks even cuter along side her than I had imagined. I thought you and Jeffrey would both appreciate that we didn’t send a real puppy. :)

Jennifer - The “bead rollercoaster” is a favorite around here, too. Lately, I’ve been enoying and reflecting on this wonderful time of exploration and wide-eyed wonder before the unpleasantries of discipline have to creep in. Babies are just awesome.

yanick - your picture are amazing Jessica !
