It was a beautiful Mother's Day here in Charlotte. All day I was thinking of my mom and her mom and how I grateful I am to now be a mom. The magnolias are in bloom here. And they are incredible. There is a new Chinese restaurant just down the street from us. These two…

Yearly Archives: 2010Since several of you have asked, here are a few of my current not-so-secret stay slim secrets: EAT COLORFULLY. There are so many amazing and delicious fruits and vegetables. And the colors will make you happy. (This is a turkey minestrone soup I made for Gabrielle – and got to enjoy myself!) Go to the… Asebert, Maybe the key to moderation really is keeping candy in the “panty” I don’t think I would want to eat it either if I kept it in my unmentionables all day! Just teasing, great post. Yes Yes Yes to all of that, so beautifully put and such great pictures to accompany! you definitely have it right! I’ve always wondered how you stayed so slim while enjoying all those lovely meals but I think the portions are usually smaller, the foods are rarely processed, and you do seem to stay active. I try to fill-up on vegetables and protein but do have a weakness for carbs. And I should drink more water. My mother gives me the tisk, tisk look whenever she sees me drinking a soda. Gabrielle is loving this Charley Harper puzzle that features delightful illustrations of animals and insects from his 1961 Golden Book of Biology. From AMMO: Charley Harper is an American original who created his art from his home studio in Cincinnati, Ohio – until his death on June 10, 2007 at the age of 84. He… I am a HUGE Charley Harper fan… he was the best! A friend gifted me a calendar of his work to enjoy all throughout 2009 and it made me so very happy. We have a couple of the books that we got at Old Navy when they were on sale there. Totally ordering that puzzle right now. Little Gabrielle made her move this weekend! We've been thinking this was going to happen any minute for the past couple months – but I love that she did it when SHE was ready and I have enjoyed every minute of her "sitting" stage. GOOOOOO G.G.!!! so cute, thanks for sharing. That is sweet! LOVE this! How wonderful those tiny moments can be! Congratulations little Gabrielle! Yay Gabrielle!!! That usually means walking is close at hand!! I know so many babies that actually walked before they decided to really crawl. yipee! is that jeffrey’s voice? his exuberance put a smile on my face! So cool. She looked so confident, I just know she will keep that same expression with all she does in life. Hip hip hooray! oh a BIG YEAH from me as well! I love hearing Jeffrey’s excitement! Way to go, Gabrielle! My little guy walked for the first time yesterday and I have a similar video where my excited voice almost steals the show! Awesome! Go Gabrielle! yay! Congratulations! What a great magazine. I think I love each and every look. I adore that hue of blue! Thanks! I am loving the shoes you have on today Jess! Hot girl! This is by far one of my all-time favorite color combinations. So true! Sending you a hug! Love it. I believe this wholeheartedly. x Here are the rest of the great captures from when my mom and dad were here for a visit! We stopped by the Kings Drive Farmers Market for some fresh produce. Delicious South Carolina strawberries. Fresh organic eggs. Lots of lemons. And Gabrielle took the maiden voyage in her Radio Flyer wagon that Grandma… great shots! love the city skyline. beautiful photos- love the one of you walking with your family in the park, so glad you were able to have such a nice visit with your parents (and Gabrielle is really changing- that sunscreen photo is lovely!) I second these comments. Beautiful Jess! just beautiful jessica…the entire post Thanks Jamie! Jessica….your posts are always so positive and sincere. Thank you for that. I love the first photo…what a beautiful moment. I don’t know you personally, but your grace and class show through. Thank you for sharing and reminding me that I need/want to start being more deliberate about capturing those special moments during the everyday. I'd love to know the outfit you'd build around this boot. These are two things I would consider. I love those pants Jess, yowza! I need. Hmmm…love the boots. I think a grey cashmere sweater dress with dark tights. Maybe something like this: http://bit.ly/ap9FpD Hi Paula – I haven’t seen them in person, but yes I believe that’s pretty true to color. They’re denim. How YUMMY is that!!!! http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/dresses/patternsprints/PRDOVR~23996/23996.jsp classic and simple. Think Jcrew, white button high starch shirt, mabe a tiny gold necklace and a khaki colored bottom, maybe skirt a lil short. Chunky afrian themed bracelts. Perfection! I have a red, flowered print skirt that would look great with the boot–I wear a white layered look top with it. Ah, never mind. I see they’re from Chanel when I hold my mouse on the pic. Sorry! Love this boots! I see a pink and white polkadot skirt somewhere in there. white skirt w/blue jean type shirt w/white tank top. but thats just me. I think they would look great with a floral dress! A flowy, springy one you can wear with the boots, while there’s still a chill in the air. I’m picturing something with lots of yellow. Leggings…sheer tunic, short jacket…..chunky cuff bracelet…. Just the boots This dress I bought last weekend http://www.ae.com/aerie/browse/product.jsp?catId=cat3000016&productId=prod5661208 Make the pencil skirt, silk blouse, Jacket Pencil Skirt? I’d love the boot!!! Dear Max Beaty, I just saw your pictures and notes on your mama Jessie's blog about your "early education in modern communication" and I wanted to send an East Coast shout out to say hey! I prefer iPhone, but we can still be friends. See you on Facebook! Love, Gabrielle Hi Lauren – Here’s the link where did you get your iphone cover? i love it. so cute…just love her! too cute! next she’ll want an ipad. I’m pretty sure they will look like a hearing aid and be voice activated…and unfortunately for us, the smaller the electronic device, usually the more expensive. hehe – too cute! I too love the Iphone. I thought my dad would get the hint when Apple payed for the computer I purposely destroyed to get him in the store, but sadly no. I just hope Gabrielle doesn’t leave me when she sees my cell phone is still mounted to mom’s car. Come see us soon girls, That’s adorable! Do you ever wonder…what will technology look like by the time Gabrielle is old enough to beg for an iphone? (Which from experience I can tell you will be about age twelve.) I'm on a mission to discover the best pizza in Charlotte – and today's trial was at PieTown. Started the meal with a field green salad (topped with oven dried tomatoes, parmesan, and balsamic vinaigrette. And I selected the pepperoni. Delicious crust. Bruna ordered the bacon and egg pizza and was surprised to see the… oh that looks good….will have to check that out…and you’ll have to do a post on how you manage to eat such yummy food and still look amazing..tips on your own diet and exercise program Wow! This looks awesome! I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this place in the 3 years I’ve lived here. I told Todd about it and we can’t wait to try it out! Here in Chicago it would be impossible to pick just one place to be “the best.” I am spoiled with a plethora of wonderful pizza choices. i hate not-fully-cooked eggs, but oddly, love how they look like that on pizza. it’s a beautiful presentation! I’ve been craving quality pizza lately – looks delicious! Jessica, Hi Jessica, I have read for a long time, but never commented- I also live in Charlotte, and my favorite pizza place is Intermezzo in plaza midwood. Pietown looks wonderful too though, I will have to give that a try! It all looks yummy to me! |
